I got one of these a couple of weeks ago…along with the Bonamassa Amos V, they’re the best two Epiphones I’ve played or owned. I say that as an owner of Gibson USA and Custom Shop guitars. Pretty much flawless quality with the 335, it plays and sounds great and certainly holds its own my ES-335 Gibson Traditional. I’m not into Joe’s music either, I just like the specs of some of his Epi sig. guitars which is why I bought them. For the $$, you get a real 335…there are other nice 335 style guitars on the market for similar money, but none are constructed like a real 335 as this guitar is. The next step up is a much pricier Gibson. In a few years, I think the $1299 price tag will seem like a relative bargain, guitars aren’t getting any cheaper and prices on these will rise due to the limited nature. Thanks for the honest review :)

Nice! I remember watching the reveal for the Amos V. It had a very cool origin story. That’s what I love about these releases - aside from being excellently built, there’s always a cool story instead of your usual signature model.
I agree about $1299 seeming like a bargain in a few years. Honestly, it is quite the bargain relative to Gibson. Especially considering they’ve had price hikes as well this year.
      Thanks for watching!

I played one of these that my friend had and then we played my red Gibson ES-335 that looks almost exactly the same and..well...the Bonamassa was 90% of what the Gibson was. The Gibson played a tad more easily and had slightly nicer wood on the body, but the Epi had an incredible looking flame on the back of the neck. The vibrato actually made the Bonamassa look a hair cooler than the Gibson too. Needless to say, I'm saving up for the Bonamassa. I'm astonished that Epiphone can make guitars this good and this inexpensive. The one thing people don't factor in when comparing the cost is installing the pickups in these hollowbody guitars is a bear. Doing it yourself is likely not an option and no tech is going to do it for under $200. It's like building a ship in a bottle. With that in mind, you are basically getting the Bonamassa signature factor for free, which unquestionably increases the value over time. THIS IS A KILLER DEAL!

I haven’t done a direct 335 Gibson; Epiphone comparison but from my experience with a bunch of Les Pauls I don’t doubt your assessment at all. Personally, I the only feel-able difference for me is the nitro and poly finishes.
The pickups are the hidden gem of the deal. I’ve changed pickups in a semi-hollow and it’s not impossible but it is a pain. Looking at the cost of the whole package here, it’s basically like you’re getting the pickups installed for free.
Hope you enjoy your 335 when you get it! It’s a great guitar and a great deal.

Nobody divides like Mr Bonamassa. 👍🏻👍🏻

You got that right! It’s ironic though, because the people who tend to stick up for these models and what he’s doing with them are rarely Bonamassa fans. If anything I tend to see his fans mocking the Epiphones because he doesn’t play them.

    Great video thanks.
I got the inlay JB guitar and found that it very much surprised me. WELL Made and plays awesome.

Nice! Those signature inlay ones usually go pretty fast from what I’ve seen. These play so well don’t they?
Not many ways a guitar could be better honestly. Thanks for watching and congratulations on the new guitar!

Agreed Probuckers get boring in everything, swap magnets. A4's are great, UOA5's can make them real screamers. A2's in Alnico Classic Pros are also great. Just flipped the neck magnet in a 2&3 set with a hotter than usual neck, maybe Greeny will come out to play?
Perhaps you'd like an ES 339.

Great review.....EDITED: I provided my thumbs up and comment when I was not even finished with the video. Afte seeing the whole thing, I'm doubling down. The production quality is very good, and I really feel like your opinion on things.....as it seems to gel with mine. Video length is about right for this type of video, and you covered just about all the bases. I think your deductions were spot on. You've got a new subscriber!

I find it very annoying to have to pause your video and read so much. Not the amount of words, you barely leave enough time to absorb. It’s not like you move on to another point.
Good content. I was there with ya at first. But half way through of starting and stopping the sound, and it becomes tedious. Just my opinion. Thanks for the review though.

I understand. I’m a pretty fast reader and I have tried to work on pacing out the timing of text in the videos a little better.
