This is one of the reasons why, but if you want to get rid of the electoral college, then you have to pass a constitutional amendment to make that happen. "Everyone gets the Congressional Medal of Honor" except that millions have served in the US military and only 3,536 soldiers have received that medal. They aren't handed out like candy. It is undeniable that he has no respect for the military and wounded veterans.
The difficulty is that it's been undeniable for years and has never actually dented his support. People can say "how can women support him after the Access Hollywood tape" but a majority of white women voted for him in 2016. You can go down the list, veterans, people of colour.
The reality is that the psychology of his supporters is largely impenetrable. Now, of course, he needs more than his base to win and it does hurt him, and new comments refresh people's memories . .
But the AH tape was weeks before the election, so I never over-estimate the impact of these things. He's most likely going to lose because he's incapable of managing this campaign coherently or intelligently, rather than because of his actual moral defects.
