It's kind of funny when you fall cause the only thing running threw your head when you fall is, NO, NOT THE INSTURMENT, DONT LET IT TOUCH THE GROUND. I'm part of the Munford highschool band and we had this girl fall a couple of years ago during a compatition and when she fell she basically did a combat roll while cradling her horn so It didn't hit the ground and got right back up without missing a beat. We got extra points for the recovery.
One time I was marching in my junior year and I tripped over a prop and I knocked the whole trombone section down...my fellow trombones still tease me in college..(we have each others phone numbers) Edit:yes at a football game
So the guy in the first video is a personal friend of mine, and was one of the best trumpet players from my area. The field was legitimately wet. We literally just handled a hurricane.
5:38 *sees unaware person standing in path with room to move around them* *runs STRAIGHT into person* Edit: Also with an expensive instrument that would hurt to land on and, being a football player, could probably damage
Addison Diamondhurricane there’s an interview somewhere of the trombone player who got ran into being interviewed and he talks about the damage and his thought process and stuff. Pretty funny stuff
Literally like last Saturday during a competition we were walking back and there was a band next to us and I’m first bass in drumline and there was a trash can in front of me and mind you i can’t see anything underneath my drum, and NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT IT AND I RAN STRAIGHT INTO IT
Ella Raine oh my gosh 😂 we had a similar thing happen- one year marching from the track into the field for State Marching Assessments and our bass 5 didn’t see a section of fence and just plowed into it 😂😂 the rest of us were just DYING laughing
I have three prop fails in marching band. In our show we had a black fabric cover the band, and we had people taking it off as we all stood up. It was the final football game and the fabric was in bad shape. There were giant holes in it (mostly because of drumline.) I just so happened to have a giant hole open fall over me, and had to get it off so the fabric people could take it away. Someone else in a competition got their trombone slide stuck in it and had to go off the field to get it back on, but was able to join back in quickly. The third fail isn't as funny. We also had props that kids had to move. My friend has to move one of the them. These things are about 13 feet tall, are wood, and you have to kick them onto their heels like trashcans. She was carrying one of them, and fabric got stuck on the wheels and she tripped. The prop crushed her hand, and she didn't play for the rest of the performance and had to go to a hospital after. She had a broken wrist and was out for the rest of the season. (This was the first performance at the first competition)
WE [name redacted] were marching at the Parade of Champions Contest in the Cotton Bowl. Half of the band was in a stationary circle and the other in a rotating floating circle. I'm in the second circle, percussion was up front on the 50. I end up on the 50, we do a "flash the horns" move... yep, the bell on my old baritone falls off! I can't get it and have to go with the drill. So does the percussion. Marching backwards. Can't see a thing. Until they see the ground they have fallen on after one of them trips on my bell and takes a couple of them to the ground. aahh...Good Times!
I was in marching band as well but my band director showed us a video that was a few years earlier and it was raining (he where at Ohio state preforming there and one of our tuba's fell and this is what made our director show us this video but it was hot as it can be when were were there so we don't know why he fell) and the two people from opposite sides come down in front to do their solos...but when they were running back to their spots, remind you, it was raining and on the opposite side of the field, they both fell at the same time and in the same exact place! XD It was great! I don't remember what year it was...I wish that I did..but it was Riverside High School Marching band
I was running with my drum to try to catch up with the rest of the band after a drumming battle, and I tripped and wiped out on the ground once. The football team heard a loud crash and laughed with me. The other drummers were asking if my drum was okay. I was fine, but the harness was bent, but we fixed it.
It’s even worse when they have to set them down to change flags and someone misses their dot and rolls on it. It’s even more fun when the guard gets blamed for it. Good times.
We were talking about how every section fights a lot and then one of our trumpets goes: And then there’s the clarinets. 😂 bc the clarinets never fight!
Last year my band was going to play for a elementary school. When in the block I fell backwards and the only thing that was running through my mind was "DON'T DAMAGE THE FLUTE!!!" And the good thing was I put the flute in front of me while I hit the ground pretty hard, but hey the flute was undamaged
Last year was my rookie year, and we played our show before the game since it was homecoming (don’t know why that’s important but oh well) and at the end of the first movement, I was marching backwards and when I popped up, my shoe stayed down on the ground, and when I slid back, my shoe rolled under my foot and I left it there for the rest of the show... so that was fun for a rookie in his 5th or 6th game ever. Thanks to one of my fellow trombones for saving my shoe.
I’m in a high school marching band, I was at a competition. One of the other bands that we faced, in one of their visuals, they flossed. Idk why, but everyone cheered, I was very disappointed...
In Jazz band rehearsal when someone messed up and stopped for a bit, my teacher(who used to be in a really good marching band don’t know what one though) told us about a time during a contest or something when her friend messed up and starting making a huge deal about it, but it was on the jumbo-tron
One time during practice, my assistant band director was trying to help a trumpet that was behind he with his path. She was in the middle of walking away and happened to be in my path and I ran right into her and she dropped all of her stuff. I couldn’t see her and we were both very startled. Another time, my director was purposefully standing in my path during practice just to see how I reacted. I ran into him, and he didn’t mover so I kept running into home until he moved. He chuckled, listened to my playing (it was my first year on mello and my primary instrument is clarinet), nodded, and walked away.
This past season one of our tenor drum players tripped over a prop, knocking it onto the other tenor player taking him out. Keep in mind this was at the end of our show at the US Bands national championship at MetLife stadium. Everyone was ok and when the guy who got taken out graduated he was given the prop.
I play football now, but my sophomore year when I was backwards marching at like a packed away game I tripped and then there was like a hold except for like me getting up with a sousaphone on in the middle of the field. Fun times
This one time it was a field show and at the start of the movement I drop my head and my glasses flew off and I was like "farewell my other eyes" and I continue all blind🤦♂️😂👌
One time I was marching backwards and two freshman were going forwards and they ran into me at the exact time. Another time, I was marching backwards and I tripped on a flag. Thankfully, my mello was okay and I recovered really fast. Plus it wasn’t a competition 😁
At one of our competitions this year a sousaphone fell and he rolled out of set really quick before he got hit and he stood up Immediately no dents in the tuba and continued with his sets
I once lost my trombone slide twice in one year. Once during a marching competition, we were in two step spacing and I went to fourth position to play a G and my spit valve caught onto the kids plume in front of me. Ripped my slide right out of my hands. I didn’t realize at first and kept trying to play then I saw my slide dangling off of the kids head. Judges didn’t notice, and we made it on to area. Second time was later that year in concert season. We were performing and the AC in the building kicked on. It started blowing the music off our stand (I was sharing with the player next to me) and I reached out to catch it, thinking my slide would stay. I was wrong. It hit the ground. At the only silent part throughout the entire piece. I never lived that year down.
My first show, my section was supposed to do a left slide for 18 counts and I panicked so I backward march. I was left embarrassed and so sad. But I’m semi over now. 😂
I'm in front ensemble, and there is a part where I have to hit the bass drum and the gong at the same time (it's really fun xD). There was a hole in front of the bass drum. I hit them both a beat early because I slipped and fell into the hole xD
I remember one time at practice all the trumpets fell at different times in the 3rd part of the show One fell going to the sideline One fell after an 8 count run One fell making fun of the guy who fell by trying to reenact what he did I fell after a run we did while in a circle And one fell on the way to the next set Then senior night when we ran the show one of the colour guard members nearly smacked the soloist
My favorite marching band fail: my junior year in HS, a rival school's tuba line ate shit during their run at a football game and half of them got damaged beyond repair
So I'm in colorguard and I was doing a weird flag thing around my back and I stepped on my silk. I fell into a bass drum and knocked him over but I had to keep going. So there was another flag silk trick we did right after that and I was late to the first count. I just moved over not in my spot, and did it and nocked over my best friend who was a snare. All that happened in a span of 3 seconds. Needless to say we lost the competition.
There is a video on RUclips of one of my fellow guard members tripping herself on her flag and she just got back up and finished the show. Turned out that she broke her ankle but kept marching. Bless her soul.
High school marching band. Thank the lord it wasn’t at a competition or home game, just practice. My clarinet section is just 4 people, I’m next to this guy in my section for most of the show. Now we have chairs as part of our show, so we have to be aware of where they are. Now this guy was in front of me, and he COMPLETELY wiped out on a chair. He fell into the chair, knocking the chair over backwards, and his clarinet goes flying. This happens like 2 feet in front of me, and I can barely keep playing cause I’m trying not to laugh. Now I’m not saying I haven’t run into a chair that was in the wrong spot, but I’ve never wiped out on one. I also stand on a chair at some point, and have to get up onto the chair in one count. One time, my momentum carried me too far and I fell off of the chair lol. At the end of our 2nd movement, we sit in chairs on a set point which is determined by this one guy in pit who hits a bell and we sit on that. One time a chair wasn’t quite in the right place, and the girl didn’t know that, and she went to sit, and sat halfway on the chair, she fell and we all heard her saxophone hit the ground and all winced.
Once when I was getting off of the field at EIU, I didn't have my glasses on and I tripped on one of the yard markers and I almost fell on one of the mellophone players😂
So one time I forgot my flute at a football game(thank god not a competition) and I just had to air flute it. Not as funny as others but worth mentioning people still call me forgetful fluter now.
We were in a st Patrick’s day parade and my 2 besties were beside and in front of me and my mom runs into the parade while we are stopped and gets all of us out of line for a picture and I got yelled at😂
So first of all I'm a beginner marcher and I'm in 8th grade, but one time at band camp there was a hill and one of the people who play the trumpet fell and then another girl said"the brass has fallen" but then as soon as she said that then she fell and after that I said, "annnnnd a woodwind has fallen"
I had an incident with a football player , he ran into me while exiting the field for halftime . i was carrying a 2.5 marching xylophone ( attached to me , 1980 when mallets were mobile) . i was only 5ft. 2 inches . he plowed into the frame of my xylo , i know his gut must have hurt. I remained standing with the drumline
One time during practice we have a house prop with a door. And the whole band is turned around facing the house on our knees well the color guard has to run in the door and then slam it quickly. Well one time a color guard sliped running to the door and tried to get up but stumbled very quickly. When she stumbles to the door gets hit in the head with a door because another color guard had to close it and yea
I play chest tenor and I slipped on a wet gym floor it got turned into a meme and every chance they get my fans director or band mates share it in our gc 😂😂
I Marched DCI this summer and we were rehearsing on a muddy and wet field and two people slipped and fell during a rep and vis staff proceeded to tell them that they need to use technique and engage the core and it won’t happen
So my band does an indoor concert and after intermission the drum line switches interments and runs down the hall whi,e the band sits on the lockers, we the guard run after them and the band runs after us. Long story short the shortest girl got the tenor/ quads and she fell, because she couldn't even walk
My biggest Color Guard fail was in state prelims I had to jump before tossing my flag and even though I nailed the toss every time before that I brought the flag down at the wrong angle and it got stuck in the ground so I couldn't toss it and even if I tossed it would have been late. What's even worse is it's the only good recording of the show online. 🤦♀️🙃😂
I was marching in our homecoming parade and I stepped on a dead squirrel 🙂 and i was marching while wiping my shoe rip the whole clarinet section teases me about it still...
One time at marching band we were running through our show with the color guard and I normally match with my flute but I had my saxophone and we were next to the color guard in the beginning and I got hit in the face with a flag. Am I the only one that this has happened to?
I had NESBA Finals last night and during movement 2 I forgot to take off my jaket..I remembered 5 counts late and had to RIP off my jacket......I'm in the guard btw
This reminds me of one time last year, we performed at half time and since there wasn’t a lot of time we did the first and part of the second movement. We were originally supposed to stop at a certain point and then set up a different set but the DM’s kept going so we all were scrambling to our next set which was a flop so we’re telling everyone to just stand still. Percussion obviously didn’t get the memo so they marched backwards and I happened to be right in their path and got ran over😂 not to mention it was Friday the 13th
I just uploaded Top Marching Band Fails #2! Go check it out if you want to see more funny fails! - bit.ly/MarchingFails2
Of course a trumpet player blamed it on something else
Hay Ben Cooper I play the tuba and I think I really is bad.
I would’ve been so mad if a football player broke my instrument like that
I like ur shirt bro roll tide
I know this is lat but in a band battle how would win aamu or Alabama
It's kind of funny when you fall cause the only thing running threw your head when you fall is, NO, NOT THE INSTURMENT, DONT LET IT TOUCH THE GROUND. We got extra points for the recovery.
haha getting extra points is great
Yeah no recovery don’t exist for contras
There was a saxophone in our band that got taken out by a tuba while he was marching to his dot and she did that and clutched that sax for dear life
At my highschool you had to do push ups, run, or do wall sits for dropping an instrument. Dropping a DM mace was 50 pushups minimum
I'm dead..the bottom of my flute falls off bc it's not oiled well..everytime I hit or drop my flute j hiss it and apologize to it
One time I was marching in my junior year and I tripped over a prop and I knocked the whole trombone section down...my fellow trombones still tease me in college..(we have each others phone numbers)
Edit:yes at a football game
Dang that's impressive!
😂
Oof

So the guy in the first video is a personal friend of mine, and was one of the best trumpet players from my area. The field was legitimately wet. We literally just handled a hurricane.
Aye my boy speakin out for me!!! Thanks Luke
Oh yeah I have no doubt! I'm definitely not judging! I seriously respected him getting up so fast and getting back to marching!
Only marching band would do that 😂, practice right after the hurricane. I'm in it btw not hating on it.
florida or carolinas

Addison Diamondhurricane there’s an interview somewhere of the trombone player who got ran into being interviewed and he talks about the damage and his thought process and stuff. Pretty funny stuff
If it's a competition then it's the unaware judges fault for being there, the marcher cant go around them or points will be deducted
@@JoshGreen6829 It was a football player, did you watch the video?
that moment made my soul hurt
Man that poor band member who got mulled over by the football player.
Nicholas Johnson with my luck that would be me
The guy in crown who lost his snare student taught at my school my sophomore year
Literally like last Saturday during a competition we were walking back and there was a band next to us and I’m first bass in drumline and there was a trash can in front of me and mind you i can’t see anything underneath my drum, and NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT IT AND I RAN STRAIGHT INTO IT

I always wonder how y’all can see with those big drums on😂
In a parade once(I’m a quad player), and my third trim fell off in the middle of marching(in the last three blocks) and I cried when it was done

I fell during one of my performances during my junior year- same reason as the trumpet player with the GoPro.
Hey buddy, thanks for putting me in the description :) appreciate ya

And i waz the guy who fell lmao
THE BAND IS ON THE FIEEELD
I was at a grand nationals competition the other day, and I fell in the middle of our show...it was pretty scary when it happened lol
Yo the guy that lost his share is my percussion instructor
I've seen my friend who was in drum line fall and their his sticks into the air. They flew so high. Some say they are still flying...

my BD says that DCI is “marching band on steroids”
I love It when meadville's guard drops their flags on the field during a show 😂😂
Meadville where?
It's my school's band :v
It’s even worse when they have to set them down to change flags and someone misses their dot and rolls on it. It’s even more fun when the guard gets blamed for it. Good times.
*CLARINET ARMY WHERE ARE YOU???*
My section is the weirdest, quitest, and biggest
Ayy
I'm a mello but the clarinets are the best to hang with
We were talking about how every section fights a lot and then one of our trumpets goes: And then there’s the clarinets. 😂 bc the clarinets never fight!
Most of my best friends play clarinet! You guys are the best!
I was in the stands at Grand Nationals last year during Alabama's exhibition and I saw him fall so I really related to it when you brought it up.
YESSS! We still give him a hard time about it! haha
Last year my band was going to play for a elementary school. When in the block I fell backwards and the only thing that was running through my mind was "DON'T DAMAGE THE FLUTE!!!" Script Ohio is so fun, the drill is quite demanding and the Tenor part is hard to memorize because it's so repetitive but so fun to pull off at a game
The doting of the I is totally something you have to see. It's very awesome, especially if you go to see their band during their invitational.
I really wish I could!
I was wearing boots for practice once and tripped over my foot going sideways and my tenors nearly took me out when I fell. 😂
These are tough to watch
Our son marched through high school and is now a Jr at UW-EAU CLAIRE IN there 400 member marching band. Check them out on-line.

The Ohio State University tuba thing was shown to me by my band director. It is also hilarious in slowmo and also made as fast as possible on RUclips
thats a genius idea! I'll have to try it out!

one time i hit my head after doing a double 45 toss and kept on marching even though it was painful...
yes, this happened in the show...
yesss I laughed so hard at this, my band has it's moments but not this badXD
Same!
Proud Ohioan!! ❤️❤️
Y'alls band does great stuff!

It’s honestly the only good thing about Ohio.
Central Ohio (Columbus) bands are the best 💪🏿

There it's literally 2 trumpets and 2 flutes in my band and I'm one of those trumpets
We have 26 clarinets, haha and were still considered a "small band"
The one fails that makes me laugh every time
Jersey Surf
I saw the osu marching band live. It was amazing.
I bet it was great!
Pans with A plan atleast it wasn’t at a competition!
We were in a st Patrick’s day parade and my 2 besties were beside and in front of me and my mom runs into the parade while we are stopped and gets all of us out of line for a picture and I got yelled at😂
One time at a game I was back marching and a prop was in the wrong place and I fell with my Sousa.
OoOoh content I’ll actually enjoy before I should go to schleep
Thanks so much!
That first clip was part of my band the nmb band of Chiefs
I was watching this scared I would be in this video.
I fell in our practice run right before finals...
BIrDViLlE HiGh SChOoL MaRChiNG BaND EVeRybODy!!! 👏🏻👏🏻
While marching someone playing trombone dropped there slid in the middle of where I cross sets
i had that happen in a competition in high school and the slide was completely flat by the end of the show!
I was there at the BOA competí when your friend fell my whole band was dying laughing but my Sousa section was so worried about him
I had an incident with a football player , he ran into me while exiting the field for halftime . i was carrying a 2.5 marching xylophone ( attached to me , 1980 when mallets were mobile) . i was only 5ft. 2 inches . he plowed into the frame of my xylo , i know his gut must have hurt. I remained standing with the drumline
One time during practice we have a house prop with a door. And the whole band is turned around facing the house on our knees well the color guard has to run in the door and then slam it quickly. Well one time a color guard sliped running to the door and tried to get up but stumbled very quickly. When she stumbles to the door gets hit in the head with a door because another color guard had to close it and yea
ouch!
Always get up as quick as you can, weather not you get trampled or the field is wet or your running too fast(IT AINT JAZZ RUNNING ITS RUNNING RUNNING)
Last year my band had the worst tear in school history. And it was at the rivalry game. To this day if I think back on that show I get physically ill.
I play chest tenor and I slipped on a wet gym floor it got turned into a meme and every chance they get my fans director or band mates share it in our gc 😂😂
you deserve more subs !!
Thanks!!
I Marched DCI this summer and we were rehearsing on a muddy and wet field and two people slipped and fell during a rep and vis staff proceeded to tell them that they need to use technique and engage the core and it won’t happen
DCI is so intense!!
So my band does an indoor concert and after intermission the drum line switches interments and runs down the hall whi,e the band sits on the lockers, we the guard run after them and the band runs after us.
Long story short the shortest girl got the tenor/ quads and she fell, because she couldn't even walk
VixenKinz that sounds like a really cool indoor concert! I hope she’s ok!
I'm in highschool and I am both in football and band, my clarinet broke half way threw the halftime performance. 😂😂😂 It sucked
As a tuba player, I wouldnt stop for the camera man either 😂😂
Ember Evans see you understand! Haha
My school is going to Indianapolis for BOA this year and I'm very hyped for it
Just some Bored Kid change your name to just some BAND kid
Good luck!
Lol my marching band is the first band you look at 😂😂😂
One time, one of our trombones was running, tripped and flattened his instrument. Sad day for him.
At my competition yesterday one of our props fell on the back field drum major and none of us knew the tempo we had to listen to pit XD
Daphne Stier dang I hope the drum major was ok!!
I was marching in our homecoming parade and I stepped on a dead squirrel 🙂 and i was marching while wiping my shoe rip the whole clarinet section teases me about it still...
Lyra Casey that’s awful!! The worst I ever stepped in was horse poop at a parade haha
The dude who was marching and dropped his drum was the same video that you watched when the judge brought him the drum
Dang that's some bad luck!
Another thing about this time of year is back to school which I hate.
Summer is definitely the best time of the year!
Hey Ben, when Jake fell, was that at a regional comp or at Grand Nats (Nationals)?
