Having been convinced by the Brentford project in 2016, Thomas Frank left his native Denmark and headed for London. Despite having previously been a manager at Brøndby, Frank was so excited by the Brentford owners’ plans and philosophy that he accepted a job as Dean Smith’s assistant. They focused on improving the squad while maintaining their “no-dickheads culture” and helping create better people as well as better players.
After Smith left for Aston Villa, Frank stepped up as manager and, following a start so disastrous that even he admits the owners’ belief in him would have been tested, things took a positive turn. Brentford hit a fantastic run of form and only missed out on promotion at the end of the 2019/20 season in the playoff final.
Then, after losing their top scorer for a second consecutive summer when Ollie Watkins followed Smith to Villa, Brentford rebuilt again and mounted a stronger promotion push. With Ivan Toney leading the line, this time, their trip to Wembley for the playoff final was successful. Frank had led Brentford back to the top flight for the first time in 74 years against the odds.
Speaking exclusively to The Coaches’ Voice, Frank tells the story of his time at Brentford and the club’s rise to the Premier League in his own words.

ive met him numerous amounts of times in and around club. i know there’s this preconception that most high profile sports people put on a front to make themselves seem like something they’re not, this is 100% not the case with thomas. he is genuinely a nice person but not only that he cares about the people he speaks to. for example, the last time i spoke to him i thanked him for everything he’s done for brentford, he then said to me thank you for being here and being a part of it. 👍 what a man. deserves all the success he can achieve.
Love Coaches Voice... and starting to really like Brentford because of this man, he is Frank by name and Frank by nature ! No dickheads 😂 top bloke. Need people like him in the game.
I have always loved this man right from the championship. I love his charisma and how he talks very cool guy, would love to play under him.
The question is are you good enough and strong enough if so then good luck go for it ✌🏼
First few months at Brentford were touch and go, Smith had left having done a great job and he didn't start well. There were a few voices, not too many it must be said, but a good few saying that he wasn't good enough and it wasn't working. Here we are a few years later beating Man U 4-0 in the Premier League. Thomas is the best manager we've had in my lifetime.
Seems like a super guy, Brentford have a bright future.
I love this guy, still so underrated for me, doesn't get enough praise.
what a manager thank you Thomas for your football
Breath of fresh air. So intelligent, humble and talented. Lucky, lucky Brentford!
He seems like a genuinely nice guy, Brentford hit the jackpot with Frank
That stoke and Barnsley games were the most heart braking games

How he smashed United in the first half is still impressing me!

"No dickheads here" - that is a concept the American Man. U. owners will NEVER understand...
