Since some devices on Bitwig are very hard to understand, i will be breaking them down for you so you can use it with no problems at all. On this occasion we will talk about how to break the drum machine to tracks.

Nice! I had no idea that dragging out the Drum Machine pad to new track also extracts the MIDI. Thanks for pointing that out! :)

You can also create a separate track for each drum pad that you're using and then route their midi to the drum machine. That way you can just have 1 drum machine instance containing all your drum sounds, but separate midi note lanes.

Interesting. I think another way to grab separate audio clips from each channel is to solo the instrument within D-machine and then "Bounce" [to new track]. Super quick, no rootin' 'round with routing. I tested this idea and it worked fine (sampling "PRE-Fader"). This is good for those who prefer the safety of audio. just disable the original midi track for backup like you said.

Yeah, sure. At the end you need yo always bounce to audio and get rid of latency and plugins issues. Always bounce or freeze when you are ready.Cheers.

That's a great tip. Thanks a lot 🌻 Would b great if there is a "Split to midi tracks" and "Split to audio tracks" option available. Did you already sent a feature request?

@@XNBeatsMusic For what is worth, this request has been added to bitwish.top/t/splitting-drum-machine-into-separate-tracks/2937 -- using this video as a reference.

Adding the audio tracks is my favorite, but I can’t get it to work with the Roland TR 808/909 vst’s.
After recording the single tracks, from the main vst, if I turn off the vst (for saving CPU) the audio tracks won’t play any sound back.
Do you know why that is, perhaps? 🤔
I’m sure I’m missing something, but I don’t know what.

Hello, it seems that drag and drop doesn't work with Bitwig 5, it creates a new group track. Very annoying !

i keep thinking there has to be an easier way to route the midi with channel routing and channel/note filters. no?

if you only need the audio, you can solo the drum piece in Drum Machine and Bounce just that one drum piece.
