Thanks for this video. I learned my phone is a Chinese serial number. So, I can not use an eSIM and it doesn’t take a physical SIM. So, my only alternative is to use my providers plans for travel.
I have traveled to 4 countries in Europe and to the UK in the last year and have not been charged for data which is included in my reasonable phone plan. WiFi calls are free and it’s $ .25, a minute w/o WiFi. We used data for mapping, looking up places to visit, etc. I’m not sure about Asia, but I don’t feel I need one for Europe.

Yes! Turn your primary SIM off! All the instructions tell you is to turn data roaming on. I was charged my carriers daily charge b4 realizing that.

I believe your phone must also be carrier unlocked to use an e-sim.
To check that on an iPhone, go to settings, then general, then about. Next scroll down until you see Carrier Lock. Mine says no restrictions.
