I'm peri-menopausal and when I mentioned that I was getting "cranky" because of my fluctuating hormones, my Dr.'s response was "I can prescribe anti-depressants". Doctors refuse hormone therapy unless you have hot flashes. All of the other symptoms don't matter to them, because THIS is the marker they have decided to focus on. The lack of awareness or care for hormonal mood shifts, weight gain, hair loss, foggy brain, and other symptoms in peri-menopausal or menopausal women is pathetic. I was so ticked off. I'm not depressed, I'm hormonal, and I don't need a pill with a gazillion side effects that is not going to fix the root cause. I switched doctors and am much happier with my treatment now.

Lower testosterone levels, midlife crises, hair loss, and greying are just a few examples. I empathize deeply with women who are experiencing or have experienced menopause, but I urge people to rethink the notion that men age more gracefully or are better equipped to handle the challenges of aging. It’s simply not true.

My late maternal grandmother died a couple of months ago and had no wrinkles. I also inherited some of my father’s genes, so I won’t be wrinkle free 😂 But, every year without a headstone is a milestone!

Well, she wore that 20 something dress and everybody was applauding cause she still fits in that dress, and she still looks the same (well, not really). Now this. Mixed message in my opinion.
When I was at a Dunkin’ Donuts a lady told me that as she got older- past the prime breeding years (after 35) something clicked in her where she didn’t care anymore about impressing men, that she grew to see men for their deeper qualities and attributes that she didn’t so notice when she was younger. She said she looked at people’s history, experiences, hearts, interests, and depths and less did she care about looks and sexual attraction. Mother Nature wants to proliferate life in the most healthy optimal way which is age up to 35, so it makes sense to me that when your body leaves that optimal age range for making babies that you would grow out of wanting to be sought after/be attractive yo the opposite sex, etc.
You completely missed Halle's point by your comment. She is talking about what women go through perimenopause and menopause, how females are viewed after their 30s, the need for more research for menopause and changing how women are thought of in middle age. Try listening instead of focusing on Halle's looks and money. It's positive women like her who have a platform can speak on this to help others.
This is wonderful! Just like women that are in the postpartum phase, which lasts anywhere from 2-7 years, but are told it lasts 6 weeks! It blows my mind!! This is why insurances should also care for women after a baby and not just cut off after baby arrives. Women’s health in the U.S. needs a whole revamp!

I'm not quite sure men get sexier as they age. Of course, some are still extremely attractive, but so are some women. Men THINK they age better because they find young women that are willing to be with them, yes. But that is not due to their looks that much, but rather to the interest some young women have in what older men have to offer, namely more emotional stability and status. My two cents 😉

She is talking about what women go through perimenopause and menopause, how females are viewed after their 30s, the need for more research for menopause and changing how women are thought of in middle age. Try listening instead of focusing on Halle's looks and money. It's positive women like her who have a platform can speak on this to help others.

This is wonderful! Just like women that are in the postpartum phase, which lasts anywhere from 2-7 years, but are told it lasts 6 weeks! It blows my mind!! This is why insurances should also care for women after a baby and not just cut off after baby arrives. Women’s health in the U.S. needs a whole revamp!

I'm not quite sure men get sexier as they age. Of course, some are still extremely attractive, but so are some women. Men THINK they age better because they find young women that are willing to be with them, yes. But that is not due to their looks that much, but rather to the interest some young women have in what older men have to offer, namely more emotional stability and status. My two cents 😉

I'm not turning myself into a monster. I embrace the wrinkles, grey hair, joint pain and perimenopause. We women are the ones who decide to not care what other think of us. She looks gorgeous. And we are also champions for embracing the privilege of aging.
