Then last year, bronze again and this year you can just feel the pressure the team has to succeed. Bronze or dropping out isn't an option anymore... so you could even see in the game the players frustration when despite dominating and getting more scoring chances (hitting posts from empty nets and Kalpas goalie playing great) and the Kalpa evens the score with a lucky shot (by lucky shot I mean lucky it went through all those players and without goalie seeing it rather then "only luck") it just disheartens the team so much. Too bad you didn’t get to see the latest derby match between Ilves and Tappara. Ilves scored a game winning goal 2.7 seconds before the end of the game and the full arena almost literally blew up. There’s also a chance that the finals will be between Ilves vs Tappara this year which could ignite a civil war inside Tampere.
There is actually hotel near the nokia arena. Im mentioning the hotel because in some rooms you can see inside the stadium. So in the middle of the game you can see the game in your hotel room without a TV! I dont know the hotel name and it might be expensive
I was nervous for Ilves when watching this video, even tho i was in the game too and know how it ends 😆 Saw you two when you were eating those burgers, nice to see you had great experience at areena. You have good vibes, love it and ur love for goalies too! 🫶
The Hotel at the arena has arena view rooms, with private balcony to the arena, so if you have not yet booked all nights and any of them are available... 😅
Looots of great saunas in Tampere, recommended! Suomensaari sauna, Kuuma restaurant-sauna in city centre, Rajaportin sauna... To name my top 3. I might add Rauhaniemi as it's a nice place, good swimming and often international people, but its usually too hot. People throw löyly like it's their last day. Same goes for Kaupinojan sauna.
used to go to rajaportti all the time when i was living in pispala. the best sauna i've been to, private or public. don't know what the other public saunas in tampere are like löyly-wise.
There is tonight Finland versus Estonia football game in Helsinki Olympic Stadium! If you cant get there its also on finnish television channel 2 at 19:00
You said you are staying for next game at Tampere. Nokia areena has two section of seats which You Can drink alcohol beverages. Anniskelukatsomo in Finnish, if getting tickets. A3 left - A4 right and C7 L - C8 R, for Tappara games. Also you can have everything else than alcohol inside the arena, so buy some hot dog or sausages and enjoy the game.
Alko did not sell salmiakkivodka for a while (in 90's), because it was "too dangerous". It was actually only strong alcohol, which (Finnish) kids had no problems to drink. Salmiakki covers taste of alcohol perfectly. Then kids learned, that they can mix any vodka with Turkisk Peber and make own salmiakkivodka. After that, ban was bit vain.
my grandparents came from Finland in the 1910s to northeast Minnesota where I live . I'm very impressed with the atmosphere at the rink! the only thing I don't like is all the advertising on the ice surface! Seeing all the ads now on the boards in the modern era is bad enough in the USA and Canada. Meanwhile I am thankful and jealous to see this from where my family originated from. Growing up in the 60s and 70s , I think back to the early 80s with several Finns and Swedes coming into the NHL , especially Edmonton Oilers and the Minnesota North Stars, New York Rangers.
Ilves-KalPa series has been seriously even. Every game seems to go overtime. Both teams playing carefully and goalies are on top of their game. According to everyone Ilves should go 4-0 just dancing through and the fact that the series is 2-1 for our KalPa shows the underdogs still fight hard. Go KalPa! And you guys are seriously walking a thin line when supporting 3 different teams 😂 I have never been to Nokia Arena but it definitely is the best arena in Finland. Its looks different even on TVs Ps. Yes the game goes on as long as someone scores. HIFK-Pelicans game today went to third overtime 😅
I support Oulu Kärpät, but in this playoff I hope KalPa will make it to the next round. KalPa has started as an underdog in this series and therefore it is a surprise to many that KalPa has won the first two series. I can tell a funny story that KalPa won the regular season in the 2011-2012 season and faced Espoon Blues in the quarterfinals. KalPa already led that series with match wins 3-0, but the Blues won the next four and the Blues became the first team to advance to the semi-finals from a 0-3 loss to victory. I hope KalPa will make it to the next round, because the team is not there very often. Most recently, in the spring of 2017, KalPa advanced to the finals and lost there to Tappara. This was KalPa's second final loss. The first came in 1991, when KalPa lost to TPS. Ilves has 16 championships and was the most successful club for a long time. KalPa has 0 championships, but there are division championships. In the 2005-2006 season, KalPa moved up to the League and has stayed there ever since. The success of Tampere Ilves was quite difficult at the end and beginning of the 2000s. The team played four times in the qualifiers. The funniest thing here is that these former qualifier opponents play in the League (Mikkelin Jukurit, Vaasan Sport and KooKoo). Today, Ilves is a success in the League. Such a nice little trivia :D
If you want any tips what to do here. Here is little list: Sauna places: Saunaworld Kuuma or Rauhanniemen Kansankylpylä (this one has swimming in lake with sauna and is cheap). Things indoors: Karting cars in Kart in club Tampere, minigolf in ratina mall, Pyynikki tower, Näsinneula (huge tower with caffeteria at the top), spa tampere, etc.
Tampere is definately the hockey capital of Finland. Traditionally, even. Malek does those clappings and dives after win, i think its nice :) Wonder if he was in a bad mood, referring to the hitting and kicking, usually he seems very calm and focused. The home grown team for Jyrki Lumme, Vesa Toskala, Tuukka Rask, Raimo Summanen, Risto Siltanen, Markus Mattsson (just to name a few who played in canadian NHL-teams).

Only problem with Nokia Arena is that the corridors are a bit crowded when it's fully packed. If they would've just built it a couple of meters further south / southeast, they could've easily gotten extra 20-30 cm of corridor width.
There is also a spying museum in Tampere. And there are sauna boats you can rent and you can enjoy sauna in the middle of the lake (the lake may still be frozen though).

It really is a shame that you can't experience the real Jokerit home arena. It's the OG large arena in Finland which basically has all the facilities of Nokia Areena, but built 27 years prior. Currently it's closed due to sanctions regarding its (current) Russian owners from the time Jokerit played in the KHL. Hopefully soon the sale of it goes through and it'll be back under finnish ownership and Jokerit can return home
Do you know by the way that you can buy 0,33l beers by just getting them from 24 or other packs. Idk if you knew it is allowed and the price is same as buying the whole 24 pack per beer. You should try best beer in my opinion (sandels). Which is about 1.4€ per can which is pretty expensive for 0.33 compared to some others but its good. Also much cheaper than buying the big cans which are usually on freezers.
Tampere is famous for it's "black sausage" traditionally eaten with lingonberry jam, you should try that. Also go to Plevna for some beer or their mead if they have some.
Yea the salmiakki shots are too good. In fact, they pulled it off Alko shelves in the 90s because kids were drinking it like juice, personal experience speaking. It came back years later and I do still enjoy a shot every now and then.
7:00 Is that a broken hockey stick on the ground/floor/ice? Nobody gonna remove it? Or does the ice hockey have rule say anything lying on the floor stay until the match is over? I don't know a thing about ice hockey except that they like to brawl. I played hockey before during school, but it was a field hockey. And my school's hockey club basically a club for rejected kids from other sport clubs.😅 It was compulsory to join a sport club and a uniform club in my school.
I just love Jakub Malek, the Ilvess goalie. Just 21 years old and does not hold back. Can get a bit rough, but as an ex-goalie of different sport (floorball) I can appreciate that. I used to be the one to rip sticks from opponents hands and rush to them making them trip to me, so me likes. 😏
You should have seen the dives of Lukas dostal. He played in Ilves for a while and he invented the diving for Ilves goalies. If you can find any videos of him, I higly recommend them.
The bars aren't freshly renowated. They are freshly BUILT. Nokia Arena is little over 2 years old.

I was nervous for Ilves when watching this video, even tho i was in the game too and know how it ends 😆 Saw you two when you were eating those burgers, nice to see you had great experience at areena. You have good vibes, love it and ur love for goalies too! 🫶
Thanks for the video! I enjoyed watching it.
The Hotel at the arena has arena view rooms, with private balcony to the arena, so if you have not yet booked all nights and any of them are available... 😅
For the 15 euros you could've visited all the museums and exhibitions in the museum center, like the Finnish Museum of Games
It s feels like u really enjoyed! Great video and happy faces😊
Is the smaller sauna in Rauhaniemi still in use? The heat was always gentler there when I used to go.
used to go to rajaportti all the time when i was living in pispala. the best sauna i've been to, private or public. don't know what the other public saunas in tampere are like löyly-wise.
@@JiihaaS It was last time I went there last autumn.
Bro, your green jacket fits perfectly there. Just travelled with you through China, now watching Finland! Awesome videos, guys! 🍁🍁
There is tonight Finland versus Estonia football game in Helsinki Olympic Stadium! If you cant get there its also on finnish television channel 2 at 19:00
Oh wow! I wish we could be there. Unfortuantely, we are in Tampere still (going to Tappara game Thursday)
Nice video, thank you!!!
@@JetLagWarriors yeah football is boring, keep watching hockey! lol
Meaningless game. Finland is already out of the European Championships.
@@JetLagWarriors Don't worry, it is only a friendly. The Finnish football league starts April 6th.
You should watch semi-finals between KIekko-espoo & Ketterä
Great video again 😎👍
You said you are staying for next game at Tampere. Nokia areena has two section of seats which You Can drink alcohol beverages. Anniskelukatsomo in Finnish, if getting tickets. A3 left - A4 right and C7 L - C8 R, for Tappara games. Also you can have everything else than alcohol inside the arena, so buy some hot dog or sausages and enjoy the game.
Love to see you in the ilves game 💪🏻
Please, tell us your opinion about the
bigger rinks in Europe ! ? ! 🇨🇦 + 🇫🇮
First time you guys become celebrities after being in a country for a week? 😅 Awesome
It looks brand new, because it is brand new:D It was built like a couple years ago.
my grandparents came from Finland in the 1910s to northeast Minnesota where I live .
Go KalPa!
And you guys are seriously walking a thin line when supporting 3 different teams 😂
I have never been to Nokia Arena but it definitely is the best arena in Finland. Its looks different even on TVs
Ps.
Fun fact. Ilves won Ninety Nine All Stars during the 1994-95 lockout season. The 99 roster was stacked. 11 of those players are on NHL HHoF.
If you want any tips what to do here. Here is little list:
Sauna places: Saunaworld Kuuma or Rauhanniemen Kansankylpylä (this one has swimming in lake with sauna and is cheap).
Things indoors: Karting cars in Kart in club Tampere, minigolf in ratina mall, Pyynikki tower, Näsinneula (huge tower with caffeteria at the top), spa tampere, etc.
All this places you can find with this names on Google Maps and everyone has website. Also everyone in those places speak english.
Näsinneula is the tallest building in Finland, I might add. Definitely worth a visit!
Näsinneula is a CN Tower from Wish
@@64ankkait’s not the tallest any more.
@@thejjzzWell, the tallest you can visit, I don't think the cable factory let tourists in their production facilities
Tampere is definately the hockey capital of Finland. Traditionally, even.
Malek does those clappings and dives after win, i think its nice :) Wonder if he was in a bad mood, referring to the hitting and kicking, usually he seems very calm and focused.
Glad you have a great time, Tampere, Ilves & Tappara rules! \o/
Dude, you had me on my toes even I knew what the result would be, haha! Great job!
Cant wait for you to see tappara play
The biggest hockey arena in Finland is Hartwall Arena in Helsinki but it's closed for the moment.
It's called Helsinki-halli nowdays. They had a divorce Hartwall and the Arena 😂
Found your videos in my feed like last week because of algorithm. Entertaining channel you 2!
I like your healthy relationship with beer 🍻
btw that's the correct way to drink salmiakki shot.. 👍 good on you... Kippis
Love your ice hockey videos...
Still waiting your Finnish WW2 history part.1
oh no.. please.. we have seen too many of those... blabla winterwar.. blabla white death.. .blabla lauri trörni... blaba...
finally a traveller with a different focus, i am quite enjoying the canadian hockey perspective from someone whom knows what he is talking about.
no fucking aurora, reindeers and history only finns care about. (torille)
2:40 HIFK isn't eliminated yet. They won today so the series is now 3-1 for Pelicans
Best team in finland💚💛 Even this season failed so badly, Ilves still haves best matches and best fans in whole Finland! Great to see how you enjoyed here in Tampere! Hopefully Ilves will comeback next year as much stronger and goes for the gold
Some background info on the " green team" Ilves: Founded in 1931, one of the most successful teams ever in Finland but sadly the last gold medal way back in 1985. The home grown team for Jyrki Lumme, Vesa Toskala, Tuukka Rask, Raimo Summanen, Risto Siltanen, Markus Mattsson (just to name a few who played in canadian NHL-teams).
The hockey museum is part of a bigger museum complex called vapriikki. Its defently worth the 15€ and you can easly spent the whole day there
Subscribed! Great content.
Good to see you guys still wearing the snow jackets you bought in Chongqing. How are the quality of these jackets? Warm enough?
I'm from Tampere but don't really care about hockey at all 😅 For some reasons I still watched and enjoyed both your nokia areena videos. You guys are great, nice to have you here! 🤩
Im a KalPa supporter so it hurts my soul a little bit that you guys have been to two KalPa away games and both times end up supporting against my boys in yellow and black. But other than that really been loving this trip into finnish hockey playoffs haha
Only problem with Nokia Arena is that the corridors are a bit crowded when it's fully packed. If they would've just built it a couple of meters further south / southeast, they could've easily gotten extra 20-30 cm of corridor width.
The thing they go down after periods is a fan club where you need to buy membership to it
There is also a spying museum in Tampere. And there are sauna boats you can rent and you can enjoy sauna in the middle of the lake (the lake may still be frozen though).
The Biggest Arena is (ex) Hartwall Arena in Pasila, Helsinki. Jokerit played there 1997-2022 but it has been closed since the War in Ukraine started since it's still owned by couple of Russians.

- Ullan Grilli meatballs at Tammela market square (traditional labourer food in Finland’s number one labour city);

Great video, Ilves
I was at the crazy long HIFK game tonight, tried to see if I spot you somewhere. No luck obviously! But I did spot Esa Tikkanen 😂
Come to Niiralan monttu in kuopio for game 4 tomorrow (or game 6 if it extends there)
It really is a shame that you can't experience the real Jokerit home arena.
Hockey - Connecting People!
i will be in this video maybe😮
Do you know by the way that you can buy 0,33l beers by just getting them from 24 or other packs. Idk if you knew it is allowed and the price is same as buying the whole 24 pack per beer. You should try best beer in my opinion (sandels). Which is about 1.4€ per can which is pretty expensive for 0.33 compared to some others but its good. Also much cheaper than buying the big cans which are usually on freezers.
Tampere is famous for it's "black sausage" traditionally eaten with lingonberry jam, you should try that. Also go to Plevna for some beer or their mead if they have some.
And now that you have tried Salmiakki shot, you need to try the "Minttu" shot.
Next time try "8-ball" (kasipallo) -shot, which is the stable of Tampere, most bars makes their own home grown version of it 😁
If you have a chance, come to Turku and Gatorade Center this saturday. It's going to be wild.
Yea the salmiakki shots are too good. In fact, they pulled it off Alko shelves in the 90s because kids were drinking it like juice, personal experience speaking. It came back years later and I do still enjoy a shot every now and then.
Great game!!
And my school's hockey club basically a club for rejected kids from other sport clubs.😅
It was compulsory to join a sport club and a uniform club in my school.
you'll have to choose between Ilves and Tappara after Thursdays game 💚💛
You should have seen the dives of Lukas dostal. He played in Ilves for a while and he invented the diving for Ilves goalies. If you can find any videos of him, I higly recommend them.
This was already your second KalPa game! We know who you really root.
You must go watch the IIHF World Championship games. We Finns really go crazy on them
What is your plan guys? Gonna make a tour to all teams in Finland 😅 Nice videos❤
Can i ask that you please next go to an Tappara-KalPa game? As a KalPa fan, everytime you've cheered against my team, we have won. 🙏
