I'd guess these originally had the Thyratron Tube touch buttons... just a guess. All the classic 1950's-1970's Otis sounds are present; the heavy duty bearings as the counterweight goes by, those classic Otis door clutches & pneumatic operators and unmistakable sounds of the Otis interlock of that era... Many of those parts are original on that era of Otis elevator because they were so very well made. Thank you for sharing this! This is classic heavy duty Otis equipment here!!
I fly with Turkish Airlines. The airplane is Boeing 777-300ER. I'm looking for American elevators like Westinghouse or Dover. I will upload videos if i find free WiFi. Roaming prices are astronomical .I'm going to Toronto ON. To which city are you going to?
Turkish Elevators We're visiting Toronto and we're going there by the EPIC and classic McDonnell.Douglas MD-11 tri-jet long-haul airliner operated by KLM. In October the last MD-11s still in passenger service will be scrapped :( We're also going with other nice planes such as the SAS CRJ-900, CityJet Avro RJ-85, WestJet 737-600 and British Airways 767-300 (hopefully a 1989-built one). This will be as much an aviation enthusiast tour as it will be an ElevExploring adventure :) Are you flying business class or regular economy?
Heritage Elevators It looks like you're gonna have a lot of fun. Too bad for me and my generation, i'm not gonna taste the epicness of MD-11. I'm going to Canada for a summer camp but i'm gonna try to film as many elevators as possible. I hope i can find a Dover impulse elevator. BDW i'm flying regular economy. Fitting to TK's microscopic economy seats will be hard :)
I rode Turkish Airlines ARN-IST-DAC and DAC-IST-CPH on economy and found the seats & service to be quite nice. My flight home was ruined by awful screaming kids though
