Accufast is good rubber but it's still fairly new. It hasn't passed the test of time that, say, Northern Rubber has. I just recently pulled rubber off of an 1881 Brunswick balke collendar with the original monarch rubber and it was still perfect. It had excellent bounce and accuracy. The only reason we took it off is because the new buyer of the table wanted both the cloth and rubber redone. I've seen Chinese rubber by championship last over 25 years so if you're only getting 5 years out of rubber its due to several reasons: 1- the rails, were in a cold and damp place. 2- the rubber was stretched while installing. 3- the cloth was installed too tightly. So far though, accufast seems to be a good contender.
Which brings up a very important question...Do they have official rules in place over rail material in tournament competition...I mean,if I was Mike Sigel or Earl Strickland...I would demand conformity in pool table construction...I wonder now how "fresh" that rail cushion is that Mike Sigel is playing on...
I have an olhausen Youngstown and i have to say that im disappointed with the accufast rails. Ive played on beat up diamond tables with better reaction than this. Idk if the installation was poor or what but im looking for something else.
I’m curious to learn more about Olhausen cushions. I have an older Olhausen, without the “AccuFast” in the emblem. How does this rubber compare to the modern offerings?
Hi Vincent, If you call the store Barry's there now and he can answer your question. 937-436-2777. I would assume you just wipe it off but I don't want to tell you wrong. Thanks
