Perfect! I Built a garden shed very similar. Cost me screws and that was it. Had reclaimed corrugated metal that was saved from an old roofing job. Also built a 4x8 greenhouse nursery for practically nothing. Old pallets and reclaimed wood.. Purchased scrapped out industrial plexiglass from work for next to nothing and added automatic greenhouse vent openers which was most of the cost. A person can do a lot with "nothing". The wife has continuously complained about all the junk in the yard and recently stopped once I turned that junk into a garden shed that she desperately wanted. That junk is simply inventory... nice job
It's opposite here. I'm a woman and hubby keeps complaining about the junk on our yard which are my stuff related to my gardening and DIY projects. The junk are going away because I slowly using them.
Enjoyed your video so much. Now I’ll be making a coop for our chickens. 😉 BUT the best part is how you thank our Lord for all he has given us. I feel like I’d enjoy being neighbors.
I can't fully express how much I enjoy y'alls content. It's got a certain positivity and joy running through it, which is sorely needed. Your vids on using a Weber kettle to do BBQ got me started, and it's now something like 3+ years of Briskets, Turkeys, Pork, etc - all from a nothin' special $150 kettle. I'm really grateful for the inspiration and advice. God Bless!
This is a great building. For added stability I would have reversed the layers of the outer layer of wood. This would have tied the upper pallets to the lower pallets. If you can find a cheap source of outdoor paint it will help protect the wood and help your building last longer.
THANK YOU! This video is a LIFE saver! I have been searching for weeks for the perfect layout for my coop and I can get tons of pallets for free so this video has been the BEST I've found. Love it so much and cant wait to get started on it tomorrow!
God bless yall for giving Him thanks! I appreciate the video. I've already built a coop but my wife and I are going to be moving to our homestead in a few months and I will need to build another coop. material cost is crazy these days, this video helps so much with an idea.
Absolutely BRILLIANT !! Great way to use the pallets to save money, chickens don't need a house of versace just a safe coop. Thank you for your idea and skill!
You ain't gonna beat that for less than $50! It looks great and suits it's purpose and looked like a simple build. We built one last year that cost WAY too much because we started with skids but got too fancy with it as we went along and turned into something I could probably live in myself if I had to lol. I need to build one more and this is exactly what I have in mind. Besides, I can't afford to go all out again this year.
Pallets for the win! You are correct is does not cost a lot to build a chicken coop. Great job! That has always been my plan for this type of project and others.
Thank you for sharing your homesteading adventure! I'm gonna use your pallet chicken coop idea on my own property. I'm excited to homestead as much as I can for me, my husband and 6 kids.
You made a good looking coop for absolutely the right price! Resourceful and careful. The only things I might change is adding a door, and setting the nesting boxes outside so they don’t poop on your eggs when roosting. Plus the structure is movable on the blocks. Great job!
Great approach to having a sturdy chicken coop and decreasing your dependency on the (intentionally) fragile food chain. God Bless and keep up the good work!
Thank you so much for this video. My daughter and I have been collecting pallets to do this but honestly we don't know what the hell we're doing. This gives us a good idea on how to assemble it all you're also very easy to listen to so thanks again
You have been my inspiration! I have watched your video about 10x at least. I had a lousy drill and dull deck screws. I just invested in a better drill and at a stand still now on my coup. What size and type screws did you use at min marker 3:03 to get through the depth of the stringer boards? THANKS!
Awesome! We are currently building one that began with 2 straight trees my dad cut down to use as the foundation poles. The coop section has no floor. Ours has found materials too, it is 18x25 with a shed area for other things
I know what to do with my girls now. I've bought store made and they last 2 years. I can usually find pallets everywhere. Thank you. Those milk crates brought back memories of family who worked in Charleston WV
Glad your here! We're sharing our homesteading content now but grilling and BBQ is still going to be a major part of this channel! More to come! Thank you!
Nice job on your coop. You might consider reinforcing your rafters with some four footers and a few more screws to give the roof deck more strength. That joint is a potential weak spot. ( I have thirty years experience as a commercial roofing contractor. ) Also for your next project you can use synthetic rubber (epdm) that one can get for free when this type of roofing is replaced.
Very close to how I do my coops. I use hardware cloth on pallets for the floor. I found I made better compost if air can come up from the bottom. I used other free materials for walls but I would use pallet wood if that was all I had. I did spend on hinges and lumber for the door frame. I also bought corrugated roofing because that was too important to use free materials on
I liked how you showed it step by step and included how many pallets and what tools you used and all. I've been trying to find a cheap way to build a coop and I think I'm going to try this one. But I'm going to add a window and insulation (I live in a cold winter state) to it. Thank you for doing such a GREAT job and idea.
I love this. We have an old coop that is falling apart and I am looking for ideas to remodel it. ❤ We do have two pallets already, so this might be enough to revamp ours nicely. Thank you for the detailed video 🥰
Pallet wood is great but mites are a realy common problem with chickens and when you get them in that structure you would never get rid of them...better to take all pallets apart and build proper walls and paint acrylic or latex/seal walls so you can clean the coop properly. To avoid disease you need to disinfect a coop at least once per year. Mice would also be a huge problem in that set up, they spread parasites and disease. Healthy chicken need a healthy home
Absolutely love yours and your wife's accent!!!!! 💗 But thank you for this! Now we will be building our chicken coop the same way! Wish us some luck, hopefully it turns out great just like yours! Again thank you and god bless 💚
Awesome! I used our old wooden fance and pallets for my 1st coop but need to redo the roof because I made it too flat. This video gave me some ideas on how to this cheap. Thanks!
This inspired me to make a coop also. Great video. You explained this in a way that even I can understand it and I seem to have a difficult time with this type of thing lol. Are you only putting 2 chickens in there or did you add some nesting boxes?
Thats what im talking about, god bless you guys i have been looking for a good video like this i believe my chickens deserve a nice place to sleep just like this coop😊❤️🫶🏻
You inspired me. I collected heaps of free materials. Bought screws, borrowed tools. The problem is that everything is just too unwieldy for me to handle by myself. I'm considering prying most of the top boards off, joining the mostly "naked" pallets end to end and then paneling over in just one layer. Would that be enough floor to support a large adult? Also, I'm wondering how you connected the pallets on the sides that don't...have sides? They only have that side piece you showed drilling through on two ends. How did you connect the second row to the first? Just by the paneling?
Excellent construction job using pallets. i had to break the bad news to my free range hens this Easter morning, that, regretfully numbered are their days of laying a couple of eggs and then basically taking the rest of the day off with ranging privileges' within the parameters of a few very nice rural acres - parts of which are rich with fat grubworms. There's even a short dirt road between the main barn and the farmhouse which they're free to cross to get to the other side as often as they'd like. My rooster Ben overheard me and he ain't too happy either, knowing full well that within a day or two, I'll have several cans of chicken in my pantry and couple of whole chickens in the deep freeze. .Thank you Kitchen Alpha for allowing me to share.
That's pretty awesome, I'm glad I clicked on your video! I'm doing a bit of research on making my own chicken coop and I'll be using your video as a reference. Am trying my best to make it and other projects with as little budget as possible. everything is imported in here so it's currently very expensive. Thanks very much and greetings from the tiny Pacific Islands of Palau 🇵🇼🇵🇼🇵🇼!
Going to do this myself very soon. Looking at different roofing options but may go with the same. Do you think the pallet planks would make a good shakes roof?
Thank you very much for sharing. That’s what project I want to do. How big should I build for 50 chicken 47 hens and 3 rosters. Thanks again for showing step by step.
I'm happy to share and hopefully inspire others with projects like this. I have always read that about 2-3 square foot per chicken. Also if they will only sleep in the coop and will either free range or have a run to stay in during the day would make a little different too. I've found that they prefer to huddle up close together at night anyway so you can actually get away with less room than you might think! This little coop is right around 50 square foot and I feel comfortable with 25-35 chickens in that space. So you wouldn't need a lot more for 50 or so I wouldn't think.
Nice job! Thanks for showing how we can use the stuff that is around us all the time and put it to good use. I enjoyed it and will be designing and building one with my family soon!
You are my HERO ! man, this is fabulous! I can get pallets from work, I have milk crates already....as soon as I build this I will post my video and share my cost as well ! thanks for making this !
I used my neighbor old fence and build the chicken coop. Screws I had from work, the things I paid for is mesh netting and board for the roof and roof felt. Around £100 for all.
Just found you! Thanks so much for sharing! We are planning on getting chick's this summer and need to build a coop. I get all the free pallets from someone I work for.. We may just follow your build!!

I'm thankful to hear that! We hope to inspire and encourage folks as much as possible!
I’ve been pondering how to use pallets to make a small tool shed. This fits the bill perfectly. Thank you!
This is a great building. For added stability I would have reversed the layers of the outer layer of wood. This would have tied the upper pallets to the lower pallets. If you can find a cheap source of outdoor paint it will help protect the wood and help your building last longer.
You mean you would’ve used the outside planks horizontally instead of vertically?
THANK YOU! This video is a LIFE saver! I have been searching for weeks for the perfect layout for my coop and I can get tons of pallets for free so this video has been the BEST I've found. Love it so much and cant wait to get started on it tomorrow!
Looks great! You can’t beat that at all. Pallets are usually easy to find so this is a great project for almost anyone.
Thank you! It's possible to do it even cheaper than we did too!
Awesome video one thing you may want to consider is ventilation around the top for the moisture to escape

Holy crap this is sooo smart. Probably the best & cheapest (practically free) chicken coup build I've seen
Pallets for the win! You are correct is does not cost a lot to build a chicken coop. Great job! That has always been my plan for this type of project and others.
This is so helpful! Love how you broke down each step to make it easy and affordable for anyone to follow. The coop looks awesome!
Thank you for sharing your homesteading adventure! I'm gonna use your pallet chicken coop idea on my own property. I'm excited to homestead as much as I can for me, my husband and 6 kids.
Sounds awesome! Hope it turns out great!

Subscribed from a fellow native eastern Kentuckian! I heard that accent and it sounded like home!

Awesome! We are currently building one that began with 2 straight trees my dad cut down to use as the foundation poles. The coop section has no floor. Ours has found materials too, it is 18x25 with a shed area for other things
Thank you! I have milk crates in my basement and plenty of pallets. I'm pretty sure I have concrete bricks in the yard too!
Great walkthrough! I'm not sure that I'd do it the exact same way, but this is a goldmine for ideas and a good basis on how to start this project.
Great video. Good work.
I know what to do with my girls now. I've bought store made and they last 2 years. I can usually find pallets everywhere. Thank you.
Those milk crates brought back memories of family who worked in Charleston WV
Found you through your "grilling for beginners" video! Thanks for your content! Looking forward to seeing your journey process! Love from Texas!
Glad your here! We're sharing our homesteading content now but grilling and BBQ is still going to be a major part of this channel! More to come! Thank you!

I’m so glad to help. Thanks to you for watching!
The Lord blessed me through y’all from this video! Thank you guys!!!
This is awesome for those of us who are broke. I've got 4 little biddes in a tote with a heat light, but soon I'm going to have to build them a coop.
Sir, this is an awesome build, and recycling old pallets and plastic baskets was both smart and efficient. You've inspired me to finally get started.
Wow, y'all did an amazing job for 50 bucks! Nice!
Thank you so much!
Great idea we love using pallets to build things. Thanks for the video.

Best video on your channel! One of the best pallet building videos out there!
Glad you think so! Thanks!
I really like the way you did this. I can use some of your ideas for a shed. Thank you and God bless.
Absolutely love yours and your wife's accent!!!!! 💗
But thank you for this! Now we will be building our chicken coop the same way!
Wish us some luck, hopefully it turns out great just like yours!
Again thank you and god bless 💚
Fully functional and you can't beat the price. Very impressive.
This is a great idea. We need to do that. Thank you! Can you paint the roof with something that would protect it from rusting?
You’re a good man, you did a great job, thank you! You & the wife are great!
Thank you so much!!
It looks great! Love the repurposed pallets. I hope to make one for my little homestead.
One of the best tutorials I've seen! Thank you!
Good stuff! I love how most of the cost is from the metal roofing haha x D
Thank you!
Awesome! I used our old wooden fance and pallets for my 1st coop but need to redo the roof because I made it too flat. This video gave me some ideas on how to this cheap. Thanks!
God bless you I enjoyed watching you build your chicken house . You give me some good ideas to build my own chicken house t
Thank you

Oh my goodness, this is the best budget coop I have come across! Thankyou so much
That's brilliant! Excellent work and great idea!
Great job!! I built my compost bin from pallets. Plan to use for chicken coop/run, too.
I have thought about a compost bin as well. That was a great idea!
Great video! I'm inspired... Are you able to keep water snow rain from getting in through any gaps or cracks? If so how?
Yes it does a good job of keeping the chickens warm and dry. I sheds water good and don’t have any problem with leaks or anything.
looks great here is a suggestion put a limb in front of the nesting boxes will help the chickens climb into the nesting boxes.
Looks beautiful

if it works it works. no need for it to look pretty. no one else will be seeing it. good job.
Thanks!
Thank you for this. Simple instructions cover all the basics really well Thank you for this. Simple instructions cover all the basics really well

I sure hope this helps! I definitely understand about doing things on a budget. Thanks so much for watching!
That came out really nice. You did a good job. Stay blessed.
About how many pallets and cinder blocks??
Pallets are $5 around Chicago which is still the cheapest option by far
GREAT VIDEO! Thank you and God Bless you both!
God bless you brother!! Thank you for this video.
Going to do this myself very soon. Looking at different roofing options but may go with the same. Do you think the pallet planks would make a good shakes roof?
Love this! Can i ask what you used for a door?
Thank you very much for sharing. That’s what project I want to do. How big should I build for 50 chicken 47 hens and 3 rosters. Thanks again for showing step by step.

Hi Alpha. I live in Florida. How much would you charge me to come to me and build this coop? My name is Tracy.
Nice job! Thanks for showing how we can use the stuff that is around us all the time and put it to good use. I enjoyed it and will be designing and building one with my family soon!
Thank you so much for this video. I've been thinking I couldnt afford to build a coop, but y'all showed me a great way.
You are my HERO ! man, this is fabulous! I can get pallets from work, I have milk crates already....as soon as I build this I will post my video and share my cost as well ! thanks for making this !
You can do it!
That’s the way you do it right there!!! Good job man.
Thank you my friend!
I pass by your house every day brother and keep checking on your progress!!
Y'all are the sweetest couple! 🤗 And I love how you teamed up to do this build. Thank you and I subsribed!
Thank you so so much!
I used my neighbor old fence and build the chicken coop. Screws I had from work, the things I paid for is mesh netting and board for the roof and roof felt. Around £100 for all.
That came together really well! Great job!👍
Thanks 👍
Looks good turned out good God bless you both
Do you have any updates on the door you added, any windows, how you did the chicken door, etc?
How many pallets did you have to use fir the coop design ??
Built one from pallets as well cost a bit more but I factored in the corded Sawzall and blades
How long did this take and dyou plan to close the front door or just leave it open?
Thank you for sharing ! God bless you and your family .
Same to you!
Just found you!
Thanks so much for sharing!
We are planning on getting chick's this summer and need to build a coop. I get all the free pallets from someone I work for.. We may just follow your build!!
A new sub here, so cool, i build a pallet goat barn a few years ago, i have 16 hens and 3 nesting boxes but they only use 1,blessings to you
Thank you so so much!
That is a great idea, well done video!
Thank you my friend!
Great video partner. Yall made this real easy to follow. Thank you.
I was trying to locate a used coop but we like the design so even if its further than we wanted to drive the price makes it worth it!
Thank you for such a simple walk through, I can’t wait to do this!
Very smart and simple I'm glad I found your video because I am starting mine and I like your build by far out of all the other videos So thank you sir
What size nailer are you used to put the side wood on
Anthony I used 18 gauge brad nails. I was hesitant at first because I didn't think they would be strong enough but I did a few boards and they're on solid! I started with some small nails and a hammer and thought I'd try the brad nailer just to speed things up a bit.
Would this be good for harsh winters? We live in Iowa and we currently have an old camper for our coop but last winter a lot of our chickens got frost bite even with a heater in the camper. It gets down to -15F some days.
Thanks for sharing. I’m collecting pallets now to do the same. Question…why are your nesting crates so high off the ground? I’ve never seen that before. Is it beneficial? Thanks.
When I put them in I just guessed at a good height. I’m going to add a couple soon and may reconsider the height.
Awesome job very nice work👍🏼👍🏼and thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much for sharing!! Working on mine now
Nice. What did you do for the door?
Thank you sooo much for your video. I plan on building one this spring.
Great idea i have palettes and metal God is a blessing
What did u use to make a door?
