Looks great! I've done this and similarly on other engraved items. Here's what I do: Paint it, like you did in the first step, then just wait about 5 minutes (paint still wet) and soak some turpentine or gasoline onto a sheet of paper folded over about 6 or 8 times. The flat section of paper soaked in solvent can be wiped flat over the surface, it instantly removes all the wet paint, and leaves the engraved sections alone. Then, you just wait for your final drying, and there is no scraping!
Finger nail polish is the same thing. Use a credit card, or any other type of plastic card to scrape off the paint… better than the pill package. Great video!
Just a related question. How's the crystal on your metal G. Any scratches? On my metal G the bezel and mineral crystal are flush and that worries me to be honest.
I've used Testors enamel model paint before and it works really well. It also available in acrylic but I prefer the enamel. The paint is also really cheap.
Great job especially since this is your first. I have a Seiko watch its a Tachometer that looks really great except that some of the paint markings on the Bezel, (W, S, E, SE, SW, NW) etc. began coming off, I'm not sure how, but my guess probably in the shower. I saw another RUclips where the Host recommended using Testors Enamel Paints and a really small paint brush. I bought the kit and with some trial and error I managed to paint back all the markings. But I only re-painted the ones where the paint had rubbed off. i let the paint dry for about an hour and then I used a Q-tip dipped in alcohol to soften the dry paint on the Bezel. Then i scraped it off just like you did with a thin piece of plastic. Sometimes even with my finger nail. I then wiped the Bezel clean with a cotton cloth and 'Voila' my watch looks brand new again. i doubt if i'll take it with me in the shower though ?
Great technique, my friend. One more thing I learned from you. It kind of refreshed the watch appearance. Is this a new acquisition? Cool sporty/casual chronograph from Tissot. I think the caliber is the same from my T-Race. Aren't you going to make a review of it ? May I know where did you get it ? Ebay ? Thanks once again for your tutorial DIY video. "Obrigado e um abraço" 👍👌😊
+Nuno MC thank you my friend, it is the new acquisition.. I sold the Tissot PRX I had so this is the replacement one ..bit sportier and cooler :) I need to wear it and get to know it a bit more to do a review .. I got it from our own domestic version of ebay :)
HI Bruce, yes the Klass Kote will better, I have used in similar projects gray epoxy and then gloss black and the adhesion is outstanding, but I haven't fig. out what would be the proper step to take out the excess of paint, I've been doing polishing the surface after the painting but it takes time, any thoughts?
Awesome job there Gunner! I thought you were pretty brave filming your first ever attempt at this, and to be honest I was a bit scared for you. Thought you might ruin the watch or scratch the crystal etc. But man - you did a great job and the watch looks 200% better now!
+peterjg I am not brave its not a bomb :D :D its sapphire crystal so I had no worries there but I was concerned it wont work and and will just make it worse than before :) cheers

Could it be acetone instead of turpentine?
İ will use fingernail polish for painting.
That came out great. Actually better than I thought it was going to.
thanks

Absolutely going to use technique this to restore the bezel on my metal G-Shock. Thanks for this mate 👍🏼

@@AvicSubfusca Honestly no, I’ve not had and problems with the crystal; had my watch for a couple of years now and no noticeable scratches / marks 👍🏼
@@JesusCommando that's reassuring! Thanks for the reply!
This video + the comments are very helpful. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing this first-time, and successful, experience with us Gunner. No doubt it will be very useful to viewers in the future.
+Brian Hinder it bugged the hell out of me so something needed to be done :) and I reckoned it may be useful to someone else too ..cheers

Thanks! Works perfect! Letters I have repaired looks better than the originals ;P
Great job my friend. I will now attempt my fortis in exactly the same way.

+Shiny Knife very cool :D :D cheers
Epic. Never have I ever considered this before. Great result
+ADRIQOS I like little projects like this :D cheers
Great result! I did use a thin permanent black marker.
+Claus-L. Müller (CLMac66) I have done that before but I found that permanent markers arent that permanent :) and I used a good German made marker :)
That is really ingenious. Well done.
+sittingbullaz I hated it before it bugged the hell out of me so something needed to be done :)
Looks awesome, gunner. Greetings from Pittsburgh. Laura

It looks great my friend. Nicely done
+Dean O thanks man ! :)
Bravo! You can use acetone with a piece of fabric to take off the remnant.
I use Klass Kote two part epoxy paint. Scratch out old paint, epoxy prime then color. Iwata airbrush works the best for applying the epoxy paint.

Very helpful, thanks 👍🏻
Glad it was helpful!
Well done young man.
+05generic thank you Sir !
