In China, Sun Yingsha has gained numerous supporters mainly because they see her as an idol. It cannot be denied that Sun Yingsha does have strong abilities, but Chen Meng was even more outstanding in this game, which led to some irrational fans attacking her personally.
There is no such rules in China that forbids research on players. Shame on Shasta’s toxic fans to spread lies for the toxic fan culture. Shasha deserves better fans and Chen Meng deserves the gold medal.
Re "Shasha's toxic fans": there's approx half a decade btwn the era of Shasha & Chen Meng and some ppl highlighted that during CM's era, the "fans" prioritized more on finding food, filling the tummy while the younger Shasha's fans don't really know much 'bout TT but simply idolize some superstars/celebrities becoz these fans have generally a higher socio-econ status (read: the diff of approx half a decade) 😝😝🙏🙏

Think Chen Meng is one of the GOAT in WS; the top player btwn the batch of LiXX-DingN-LiuSW and the current batch of SunYS-WangMY; she won 4 WS titles in ITTF Grand Finals in a row, and narrowly lost to LiuSW (final, 2019), Wang MY (SF, 2021) and SunYS (final, 2023) in World Championships 🙏🙏

Guys I’m not sure if this is true but this is something going around in China but apparently, there’s a rule that your not allowed to search videos or like data of your opponents or something like that. It’s something similar to that but I’m not very sure. Anyways, apparently her trainer (Chen Meng’s) went against that rule which kinda gave Chen Meng an advantage since she had the chance to study her opponent’s moves. So that’s why people were not really cheering for Chen Meng since she had kinda cheated. Also because the girl she went against was actually one of the best female ping pong players in China, that’s why they also cheered for her more. But apart from that people in China don’t really like Chen Meng right now since she cheated. *this is not my opinion, I’m just explaining why people seemed kinda unfair to Chen Meng and were more on Sun Yingsha*
