@@derekwilliams7144 They reviewed Monet's season haha. IF you've followed the podcast over the years, they did this a couple years ago but then Chi Chi passed while they were doing it and Bob couldn't rewatch it w/o getting emotional so they switched it to Monet's season.
Bob has a deal with Vh1 to prob not talk about the show on the podcast so Bob prob cannot contractually talk about it.

Seeing Chi Chi made my eyes tear up, I love that queen. I was a regular on her ig lives and adored talking to her on there, she seemed like such a sweet person (especially for putting up with my dumb questions) 💜

Ahhh! I'm Canadian and for me season 8 was the first season I could easily access so it's the first season I watched front to back. And although I thought Bob was the most deserving winner, Chi Chi was the first queen I fell in LOVE with. Such a freaking great season. Season gr8. ❤❤

28:15 - in all fairness to Naomi, when they did the boat challenge in Season 4, the girls didn’t have to construct their garments either, just the boat itself. Willem even wore couture on the runway.

I hate how rupaul threw laila in the bottom when she could've easily swapped her with either derrick, naomi, cynthia or robbie but also i'm glad she didn't bcz she served one of my fav lipsyncs ever. I just love how nonchalant and chill she was #LailaforAllStars

I feel like season 8 was the season where I felt most connected to the queens. It just felt so real and devoid of fake drama. It really felt like the entire top 4 deserved to be there.

And btw: Emmy’s aside, season 8 is my hands down absolutely favorite! The camaraderie between the final 4 (even Naomi and Derrick sparring) is just great.

Possible unpopular opinion but there are a lot of S8 queens I didn't see the hype for originally but grew to love on social media and All Stars. It's fun to look back on stuff knowing behind the scenes info and firsthand insight from the queens. So glad y'all are re-watching the season!

I always said this, but I think they decided Miss C while Chi Chi was still in the running to win. I remember Bob saying somewhere that the top 3 was revealed as it aired. Bob Kim Naomi and Chichi all filmed going home 4th place.

I came here to say that! She won the mini challenge so that’s why she chose the looks for each for the maxi challenge (and then forgot to choose her own 🤣)
I went back and checked. After the photoshoot they all go out and meet with Ru on the main stage. Ru straight out says that she's choosing a name at random, then has Morgan McMichaels pop a ping pong ball out of her cooch with Robbies name on it. They don't actually judge the photoshoot until the main stage.

I just rewatched season 8 recently and omg! Honestly, in my humble opinion, it was the last truly stellar season. Season 9 and onward had a different flavor to it that I haven't found palletable (even though I still very much enjoy the show). Maybe it was the LOGO of it all, but seasons 1-8 are truly iconic. The best challenges, runways, drama, everything! Okay, I'm done ranting. Lol.

100% agree. I also think it's when social media became more mainstream for TV stars and such to use and Twitter got bigger. So the queens started watching what they say and have to be perfect etc.
Totally agreed. It really hasn't been the same since the switch from logo. But I will say that S14 was great and captured some of th magic of the old seasons. Probably because the queens were so likable and it was easy to get invested in them. But yea other than that I kinda lost interest around s9, I've still watched every season but it doesn't have the same energy as it did in the logo days :(
@@Yikes702 Yes, I agree. I like to watch MovieBitches and they've coined a term called "tragedy mirror" where producers make the girls have a "heart to heart" in as they're getting ready for the runway. Some good convos have happened but it's painfully staged. Lol.
This was the season when I first experienced going to L.A. and going to DragCon. What I liked most about that trip was meeting Bob while at DragCon. What I liked least was finding out at the last minute that the finale was being taped the day after I was booked to leave L.A. I have a hunch that they probably didn't want everyone to know that the finale was being filmed a couple of days after DragCon because they definitely didn't advertise it when I bought tickets to go to DragCon months earlier.

So this was when my love for Bob was born. Their confidence while on the winners photoshoot inspired me so much! Maybe they knew the other queens beforehand but I loved seeing someone that's black, talented and confident in a room full of white people and just grab that spotlight. Since then that's my life goal
