is it really worthy to upgrade a such cheap instrument? Sure, I guess you don't care that you can't take these money back if you sell it, because you probably won't sell it, but upgrading £200 instrument with £150 pickups? Like putting a Mercedes engine to a Dacia Sandero! Is not worthy for most people
@@Nico_Aslanidis Yamaha's are solid high quality instruments that punch well above their price range. Its more like dropping a turbo 2JZ into a N/A Toyota Chaser. Also It's gonna be a better investment than a stock 350 pound bass if you know what you want.
@@Nico_Aslanidislet say you one get 175£ for it after you spend that money on pickups. Then you’re out 175£ for a bass that you wanted to play. On the other hand, let’s say you buy an 800£ bass and sell it used for 550-600£. You’ve lost more money on the expensive bass and never played the specific pickups you wanted.
I had a TRBX174 EW a few years ago and sold it. Big regret, so this week I bought another. I remember what made me buy this in the first place. Medium weight, perfect balance and a neck in between a Precision and Jazz. Just perfect.
I got a Squier Precision (PJ pickups) as my first bass and I love it. Way lighter and easier to play than the Yamaha, and has a more classic tone that’s easy to taylor to a lot of different styles. Highly recommend.
I want to play bass guitar. Can I buy ibanez grs205sm guitar as my first bass guitar? Will it be good for me? I will play metal music, hard rock and others.
@@Christian_Der I'm on the same boat though I'm a noob on bass. There are local stores who have sales this month (october). I'm torn between Jackson JS3 Spectra IV, Yamaha TRBX304 or Squier PJ Bass
Great demo, but would have been nice to have played the D and G strings during demo on the Encore bass. There wasn't much treble, you never said where tone was set.
Basses buzz a lot more than guitars, but because of the position of the microphone and volume of the amp the mic picks up the acoustic buzz, it usually doesn’t go through the amp. If it does raising the action like 0.1 or 0.2 mm fixes it
Probably bc many beginners are simply thinking if they actually want to play long-term or just try out the instrument Various reasons but ofc cheaper basses aren't limited to beginners imo
Not only beginners, but there are a couple of reasons that beginners should look at cheaper instruments: 1. As a beginner, you can't know whether this will be a life-long obsession or a two-week wonder. Don't spend a lot of money until you know you're going to stick with it and enjoy it. 2. As a beginner, you don't yet know what you want. If you're lucky, the first instrument you get will turn out to be exactly what you want. More likely is that a year or so in, you'll know a lot more about what you want and can choose an instrument that is more focused toward what you want. That said, all of my instruments are what would be considered budget. Not necessarily cheap, but under $600. The quality of less expensive guitars is (can be) amazing.
Yamaha for life! The TRBX174 rules. I upgraded the pickups to the GZR EMG set and it absolutely sings now.

I'm planning to do that too

Are stock pickups from yamaha trbx 174 good for beginners

imo 2 winners here : yamaha trbx174 and jackson spectra js2 they just rock in all styles !!! trust me
this dude can play bass thats for damn sure. those licks were tasty
This was honestly so helpful, thankyou!

Cant be lighter than a yamaha
Realy good list, though I sorely miss the Cort Action from it. But it's nice to see that Jacksons get some love.
I like the Encore bass, simple and good tone. What was the fretboard made of?
Really helpful. Thanks very much!
I just bought that exact Yamaha tbx.174
Anxiously waiting for your short scale bass evaluation.
Thankyou for this video!!
What tune was 5:04 ??
actually the yam trbx 174 's body is not alder it's mahogany.
Hi,i like gsr200 ibanez,if is power like tmb100?
I’d go for either the Yamaha or the Ibanez with the tortoise pick guard.Thank you for the video.👍🏻
Squire J bass sounds the best to my ears.
yamaha or cort action pj 4?
How can overcome that buzzing sound?
Everyone should have at least one Yamaha bass. Their quality is absolutely brilliant.
I want to play bass guitar. Can I buy ibanez grs205sm guitar as my first bass guitar? Will it be good for me? I will play metal music, hard rock and others.
What did u decide?
what did you finally bought? did you bought grs205sm, and if u did how is it?
Legend has it he never got one because he decided to play video Gamo on his phone all day instead.
I've narrowed my choice to the Jackson or the Yamaha. Trying to justify the added cost of the Yamaha in my own head.
Get the Jackson and don’t look back

@@PlacidoYTwhat did you decide?
@@PlacidoYT The Yamaha is the best out of those three by a large margin.
I want the Jackson because it comes in Snow white, but I want the Yamaha because most reviews seem to lean towards the Yamaha.🤔
Play them both, the neck profiles are distinctly different.

I think you're mistaken on the Yamaha at the end. Due to the colour it looks like an " ew" model and that means it's not Alder wood but Mahogany.
Cheap Bass? Was your first brand NEW car a Cadillac? No. We have to start somewhere and dream of having a Cadillac...
Cadillacs are rubbish. That’s why they failed in Europe.
Spend an extra $100 and get a Sire V3 that’ll stay around for the majority of your bass playing ventures.
iba,, goood
why all of them have fret buzz, I want fully working bass, not one with buzz
Basses buzz a lot more than guitars, but because of the position of the microphone and volume of the amp the mic picks up the acoustic buzz, it usually doesn’t go through the amp. If it does raising the action like 0.1 or 0.2 mm fixes it

Cant hardly hear it on my phone! Rubbish sound
Use headphones duhhhh...
Phone speakers suck for listening to bass lol, they sound good through headphones or if you crank the volume.
@@Gliese710_ ha , oh yeah!! I didn't think to use headphones- I thought in my head that would give an artificial idea of the sound
