I’ve had the Bose Soundwear Companion since 2019 and it’s one of the best purchases I ever made. I use it every day and it still works well with good battery life.
hey thanks for the informative comment, here also interested in buying a pair, can you wear these around the office without disturbing your co-workers ? cheers
I have had the SRS NS7 for going on a month. These things sound great. The neckband does make some noise, outside of the user...despite that, these things are wonderful.
This is a must for gaming. I do a ton of sim racing and wow. The engine notes and wind noises as I get up to speed. That just scratches the surface of the experience. Good product.
You can only do so much with speakers this small. There is definitely a good rumble at the right frequencies tho. And yeah music is horrible but I'm not mad about it
Thank you for the in-depth review. Personally, I hate how technology seemingly is supposed to make life easier, but it requires constant fiddling and changing of settings to work right.
I have the SONY SRS-WS1 Wearable Neck Speaker. They are from 2017. Love them. You can walk around the house and hear the TV. The SONY SRS-WS1 has a amazing vibration function so you can feel the sound.
Op, how can you recommend this device if you didn't fully researched it, I almost purchased it based on your review, thank god I did more research. 1. Bluetooth Connection ONLY supports Stereo, you wont get any Spatial Effects from Bluetooth, it will be pure stereo that will be Fake-upConverted by the headset which means you wont get actual surround, you cant recreate full surround out of stereo, you can create fake wide stage. 2. Only when you connect it to Sony Bluetooth Dongle that comes with it and the dongle to Sony Bravia XR TV, ONLY IN THIS COMBO you will get Dolby Atmos and Spatial Sound. 3. When you connect the Dongle to a PC, Console, or any non Bravia XR TV [including all other sony model], the manual says you DONT get Spatial Effect, also the manual says that you have to set the Optical Out on TV to PCM [Uncompressed] and Optical PCM is just Pure Stereo, so again you wont get surround sound or spatial audio when the dongle is connected to ANYTHING except Bravia XR. To sum this up, If you buy this product to enjoy Spatial Audio [Dolby Atmos], you MUST own Sony Bravia XR TV, in ALL OTHER configurations its will be a PURE STEREO device. Cogently there is only ONE device that lets you output surround sound without being attached to property hardware, its the Panasonic GN01 SoundSlayer, it has 4 speakers and its connected with USB to PC, so you set your PC to output surround and thats what you get, rather simple solution.
I ended up buying these and let me make a solid couple additions to the use cases, if you work in an office these are game changers. If you do a lot of walking these are a great substitute over headphones for a couple of reasons, first and foremost awareness ability: you can have them at a volume you can hear while also being in tune with the noises around you, number two head fatigue or specifically neck fatigue. The weight is on your shoulders mostly and then if you bend forward your lower back and or upper neck. MOBILE sound at GOOD quality is difficult and usually costs awareness and some neck fatigue if worn long enough, in this case you are free from the sacrifices!
BOSE was the first to have this design and I have the same issue with it sliding down your back. They need to shift more weight to the front and maybe the ability to extend both sides so it can rest lower on your chest.
The big question I have is, can I use it along with the existing Sony speakers on the TV? So, my wife can listen to it quietly, but I can crank it up louder on my shoulders? Or does the connection turn off the Sony TV speakers? And if it does keep the Sony TV speakers on, will the sound be sinked with the neckband speaker? In otherwards all the speakers both on the TV and the neckband work together?
To answer the most common question: NO, I have NOT tried the Bose Soundwear. It was discontinued years ago, so i seriously doubt I will ever be able to try it.
Hey - thanks for this review! I’ve been torn between this and the Bose soundwear and ended up going with the Sony since it was easier to buy/return. Honestly my expectations were pretty low because I’ve purchased other neck speakers and they all sucked. You were pretty damn hyped about the set so I was a little cautious because sometimes it’s too good to be true. I just got it today and I can honestly say it’s an amazing set. Sound quality is very crisp and while it doesn’t have boomy bass it has a very full rich sound and I am very impressed. I don’t even have a Bravia TV but it seems like there is some bits of (3D) audio. I probably wouldn’t have purchased this before watching your review so thanks again!
I'm thinking of buying this, I have an LG TV, do you think the TV matters? My TV supports 3D sound & has an optical connection. Do you use it with a Sony TV? What do you mean by a bit of 3D sound?
Depends on what you're using it for. If you want it for mainly music, the boomerang is better. If you want for tv (movies, tv shows, gaming, RUclips, etc) then the Sony is the best there is right now

What do you think of the Bose Soundwear by comparison/on its own? It seems like they were the only high-end neckband for a while and maybe were too early. I have one and really like it, but I'd be interested in your thoughts.
Haven't had the chance to try the Bose soundwear. And seeing as they havent sold it in years, I don't think I'll ever get to try it. So I won't have an answer for you sorry
So I purchased it, got it hooked up to my Xbox series x (through tv), purchased the Dolby Atmos Xbox app, and actually getting a simulated Atmos experience while gaming. Only question is can I use the mic for chat somehow, or what’s a workaround for game chat while using this thing?
Haven't had the chance to test the mic yet while gaming. I rarely (if ever) play online games so that's one I gotta check. Were you able to use the mic for gaming?
@@DanielsTechStudio Thanks for following up. I haven’t had luck yet with using the mic to chat. But I found a few workarounds. One use the Xbox mobile app and pair the headset to that while chatting. That is quite the workaround, but I think I know why that is. Using an optical cable as output is a one-way street (output only. No way to get input) And since that's the only way to connect to a tv with this thing, there's literally no way to natively use the speakers AND mic at the same time. Nice review. So my understanding is that you only get Spatial Sound and Atmos (soon) if you're pairing it with a Sony TV. If so, what do you get when you connect it to a non Sony TV in the way of surround? It seems like you're impressed which is good to hear, but based on Sony's own product info I'm unclear what you're actually getting if you're not using their TV...?
It's just "higher quality" sound on Sony TVs (apparently). I imagine it would sound a tiny bit better than any other other tv, but haven't tried it yet. You still get spatial surround sound no matter what, especially for gaming.
@@DanielsTechStudio Thanks! So it sounds like (maybe) the headband is upmixing stereo from the TV, but not using its fancy Spacial Sound tech. I assume the same goes for gaming if its going through the TV - its not going to be playing Dolby Digital etc. I'd be interested in whether you get different options or quality if you connect to a PC or gaming system directly (via Bluetooth) rather than going via the TV. Anyway I look forward to your gaming review!
Well I don't believe it's possible to get dolby digital on this due to the limitations of Bluetooth. If this had a wired option, then it would be possible to have dolby. Maybe the next one will have all those options haha it's still great tho. And thank you kind sir! 😁
Sony's history is in sound and miniaturization. We wouldn't have TV as we know it, pocket radios, SPDIF, battery technologies, Walkman, Vaio design, innovative cameras (or digital cameras in general -look it up!), & technologies etc., even their lowest level priced product line, for emerging markets, comes with a sense of distinct build quality. I still have my shortwave multiband radio that I bought 20+ years ago
I don’t really get how u can get a cinematic experience when it’s pcm stereo, my understanding is when connected to Sony XR TVs it somehow uses all atmos channels of sound or somehow manifests them through it
Any suggestions from anyone for a neck speaker that isn't as expensive as this. I listen mostly to music but I'm not an audiophile. I'd also like to use at night watching films on my TV which isn't a Sony. Handling phone calls isn't so important to me but it would be nice to use while playing the occasional game on PC. If it has it's own memory or SD then that would also be nice. Any suggestions?
Can anyone tell me how these work in windy conditions? Do 20-25 mph gusts affect sound quality and/or the sound traveling to your ears? Thanks for the advice.
I just bought one yesterday and it was at a very attractive new year sale price! I liked it simply because I cannot plug into my ears for long. I wished the sound from this Sony headband speaker was able to limit to my ears only, and not to the person next to me...! And I also wished it came with a casing for storing it when not in use. Other than that it is an awesome speaker.
I use my NB-10 when I'm doing real estate photography. I can listen to mah jamz whilst I'm shooting, and if a call comes in from a client, press a button and talk through the neckband. The NS7 I use mainly with my home theater (Sony Bravia XR75X90J), or sometimes during "bathroom time" to mask the nasty sounds as I eliminate waste. So yeah!
@@radioboyatl so the theatre one is too unwieldy to use walking around for sure? cost $452 cad to get the theatre one so annoyed if i have to get another. is there really significant sound differences between both in vocal clarity/quality of movie sounds etc?
@@verveblack I don't think it's unwieldy for walking around, I just prefer the NB10 for that because of the nature of my work. But it terms of sound? You won't be unhappy with the NS7 (even for 452 loonies), and yes the difference is significant. I've bought a lot of home entertainment tech this last year, but my favorite purchase is without a doubt the Sony NS7.
I wouldn't recommend it because you will be readjusting it every 5 seconds because it doesn't stay in place very well. Definitely meant for sitting in front of a tv
Great review, I just got mine, I like it overall, but I have some minor complaints, it is not as comfy as I thought it would be, because when i watch a movie, I'll like to get all comfy on my bed and I'll adjusted my pillow for my back, but the neckband will make pressure if you lay on something that's at or over your neck height. Second, I like to watch movie in loud volume, but this does not feel that "personal" after all, it still sounded like a regular speaker, and might still interrupt people next door to you.
@@TheCarLovingSwede The sound is so good, but I'd say it might be able to annoy neighbours as well if you live in an apartment, it can go pretty loud to be honest. The reason it might not be as loud as the normal speaker is that it doesn't has the subwoofer to "rumble" the floor and makes the neighbour actually can hear and feel its existence.
good, I have a samsung tv (q7f) and I have had this incredible gachet for two weeks and I don't need more than connect it through the blutooth of the tv, I didn't even take the adapter out of its box, you have tried it simply looking for it through the blutooth of the TV?
@@Nuuki9 hello, the sound without knowing if it is atmos I assure you that it is very well achieved, I use it with cinema and video games and the sensation is very similar to my sony 1000xm3, I recommend this gachet for those nights that one wants to feel the movies without feeling them the neighbor !!!
They stopped selling the soundwear a couple years ago. So unless someone can let me borrow one that isn't super used, I won't have an answer. I'm sure someone in the comments can help tho 👍🏾
So here's my use case > I wear Glasses of an evening and over-ear headphones irritate me as they compress the frame arms against my head - Plus, my daughter sleeps in the room next to where I view movies and don't want to disturb her while I watch this kind of content where I would like to listen to it in its full cinematic glory.. So I take it these would be for me..? Oh and I also own a 2021 Sony A90J. ;)
If you're in another room, then these would be for you 👍🏾 if y'all are in the same room, then it can get a bit distracting for her as these can get a little loud.
@@DanielsTechStudio I just realized that my question wasn't clear enough in this channel: talking about the 360 spatial sound + Dolby Atmos feature. Just 2.0 via the optical splitter isn't officially supported but works. According to Sony the 360/atmos stuff on Bravia TVs however supposedly does not.
I’m concerned about having this wrapped around my throat. I’ve been using it a lot, but I’ve been thinking that maybe it’s not such a good idea. I know that non ionizing radiation is supposedly not bad for you, but there appears to be a ton of conflicting information.
As someone who owned the Bose for a couple years. The bose sound quality is great for music, but the surround sound is probably better on this Sony since it is made specifically for that. Also if you want to connect to a tv you gonna need a TV that has Bluetooth built in or add a dongle or something. There also may be some lag in the sound depending on how good the bluetooth connection is. Also the Bose is MicroUSB for charging which Im trying to remove from life so I don't buy anything thats not USB c anymore. For those reasons, I sold the Bose and will be getting this as a replacement.
Been using for a few days, I found my neck sore after a long hours use, is it normal? Or maybe because I lean my neck forward a little cause I was afraid that the speaker will fall down from the back, I don't think this design is perfect for everyone though. :(
Those monsters have amazing sound but the problem is that it has some kind of bass/audio limiter when playing music. The music will dip and come back up with every bass bump. So disappointing because the quality when it actually works is amazing.

I have these and I dont feel any delay using them.
@@DanielsTechStudio Are you sure about that? They are pretty clear that spatial requires Bravia…
Apps do suport it Xbox series X support it just need the app
Sony's history is in sound and miniaturization. We wouldn't have TV as we know it, pocket radios, SPDIF, battery technologies, Walkman, Vaio design, innovative cameras (or digital cameras in general -look it up!), & technologies etc., even their lowest level priced product line, for emerging markets, comes with a sense of distinct build quality. I still have my shortwave multiband radio that I bought 20+ years ago
I hear music on this all the time I love the way they sound
I don’t really get how u can get a cinematic experience when it’s pcm stereo, my understanding is when connected to Sony XR TVs it somehow uses all atmos channels of sound or somehow manifests them through it
Great reviews, man 👍🏼
Thank you! 😁
Daniel - do you think these neckband speakers are loud enough to function in a loud working environment? I work in a loud ass factory.
I think they can be loud enough, just be aware that people around you will be able to hear it too
Can you connect it for PC use, like youtube videos or movies? How do they sound?
Can you use these with a Samsung phone like the Z Fold?
You can use them like any other Bluetooth speakers or headphones, so yes it will work with any phone's Bluetooth.
Monster has a few.
Can anyone tell me how these work in windy conditions? Do 20-25 mph gusts affect sound quality and/or the sound traveling to your ears? Thanks for the advice.
bạn sẽ cảm thấy như bị ô nhiểm âm thanh _ không thể tập trung vào chiếc ns7 nếu ở môi trường mở ( tiếng gió mạnh ).
can you review the lower profile sony neckband speaker srs-nb10? this one looks tho choky and heavy
So Dolby Atmos on these speakers would not work without Sony Bravia XR tv?
Any chance you've messed about with the equalizer settings?
I just bought one yesterday and it was at a very attractive new year sale price!
I liked it simply because I cannot plug into my ears for long.
I wished the sound from this Sony headband speaker was able to limit to my ears only, and not to the person next to me...!
And I also wished it came with a casing for storing it when not in use.
Other than that it is an awesome speaker.
I agree with you. Really hoping they tend to those issues with the next one
have you tried the Sony SRS-NB10? is that anymore secure on the neck? need to walk around using a neckband speaker
Haven't had a chance yet to try the nb10, though it does look a lot more flexible than the ns7
@@radioboyatl Not unwieldy, but less wieldy/comfy than NB10?
Waiting for your review on Sony theatre U 🤩
It's definitely on my todo list!
Good review, How does it compare with the bose neck band ???
Would this be something for someone who works outside all day?
I wouldn't recommend it because you will be readjusting it every 5 seconds because it doesn't stay in place very well. Definitely meant for sitting in front of a tv
i think it would be great for driving and walking around. Mine fits perfectly and doesnt side around.
Thank you! Yeah I have the same kind of complaints
Is it really like a normal tv speaker? Loud enough to annoy neighbors?
@@TheCarLovingSwede The sound is so good, but I'd say it might be able to annoy neighbours as well if you live in an apartment, it can go pretty loud to be honest.
The reason it might not be as loud as the normal speaker is that it doesn't has the subwoofer to "rumble" the floor and makes the neighbour actually can hear and feel its existence.
Do you think this would work with Dolby atmos on Apple Music?
Guys if you are purchasing this considering this will be localized, then no, it just like a normal external speaking hanging around your neck.
One question. Can I use them while they are charging? I don't want to stop gaming or watching movies because of low battery.
Unfortunately no
good, I have a samsung tv (q7f) and I have had this incredible gachet for two weeks and I don't need more than connect it through the blutooth of the tv, I didn't even take the adapter out of its box, you have tried it simply looking for it through the blutooth of the TV?
My tv doesn't do that
How's the surround sound? You're not getting their proprietary 360 Spatial Sound or Atmos on a non Sony TV so interested in what you are getting?
@@Nuuki9 hello, the sound without knowing if it is atmos I assure you that it is very well achieved, I use it with cinema and video games and the sensation is very similar to my sony 1000xm3, I recommend this gachet for those nights that one wants to feel the movies without feeling them the neighbor !!!
This one vs nb10, how big differences in comparison between these 2?
Since ns7 sold out quite fast.
ns7 được đánh giá chất lượng âm thanh vượt trội hơn nb10 _ tuy nhiên nb10 lại rất gọn nhẹ không gây mỏi cổ.
Sony NS7R vs Bose soundwear which one is better?
They stopped selling the soundwear a couple years ago. So unless someone can let me borrow one that isn't super used, I won't have an answer. I'm sure someone in the comments can help tho 👍🏾
@@DanielsTechStudio Ok thx!
you made this gadget more immerse than itself. thumb up!
In the factory I work in we are not allowed to have ear buds or headsets so these work for us.
Nice! 🙌
Also in our factory, can others hear what you are listening to? or is the sound so focused on your own ears that others cannot hear it?
@@JJfacts-hh2ot as long as it’s at lower volume, others can’t hear it with all the background noise
Waiting for your review of Sony Theatre U. When you do review it, please also connect it to a non sony tv as well 😇✌🏼
This neckband speaker should be use 8 speaker driver so 3 left 3 right and 2 small built in subwoofer at front and passife radiator at back
Sony doesn't actually tell us how many spaker drivers are inside of it, so I actually don't know how many.
@@DanielsTechStudio they do you should watch the video about srs ns7 on sony official channel they only use 2 channel so it virtual dolby atmos
Can it be used with Xbox Series X? can it connect directly to the console or do you need to connect it to the pad with a cable?
Thank you for the great work
Can I connect a PS5 with it? (my tv doesnt support the XR but I guess PS5 does?)
Oh and I also own a 2021 Sony A90J. ;)
If you're in another room, then these would be for you 👍🏾 if y'all are in the same room, then it can get a bit distracting for her as these can get a little loud.
is there aux connectivity or any other kind of wired connectivity?
Nope! Unfortunately
Now they need to make a active version. One that will lockdown onto your neck ,ip68 and wireless charging.
That'd be amazing. And it'll cost 400$ lol
So can I use 2 units of those on one Bravia TV with an optical splitter to share the experience with my wife while the kids are sleeping?
Yes that is correct
@@DanielsTechStudio Sony just told me "no". lol
I do it all the time so they are trippin
I am definitely going to buy these now, was concerned whether I can pair with Samsung TV.
Did u finally bought it? Is it easy to pair with samsung? Is there any sound delay?
@@ariewinata-filmdirector I decided to go with XM5’s instead.
Are these better than the Bose? I know that the Bose have been discontinued but I can still find them for around 150$
Haven't tried them yet but hopefully I will soon
As someone who owned the Bose for a couple years. The bose sound quality is great for music, but the surround sound is probably better on this Sony since it is made specifically for that. Also if you want to connect to a tv you gonna need a TV that has Bluetooth built in or add a dongle or something. There also may be some lag in the sound depending on how good the bluetooth connection is. Also the Bose is MicroUSB for charging which Im trying to remove from life so I don't buy anything thats not USB c anymore. For those reasons, I sold the Bose and will be getting this as a replacement.
@@thestanleys3235 thanks this was very helpful, ill lean towards the Sony in this case 🙂
How about the microphone? Can we talk with our party in PS5?
Nope but I'll go over why in my gaming review for this. Should be done in a couple weeks 👍🏾
How is it for Teams calls?
which is better sony earbuds(mx4) or sony srs ns7??
Those are 2 totally different kinds of sound delivery devices. They're not really comparable
I guess you can also connect this to a phone right ?
But it’s still Bluetooth connection
Which is bad
6:30 RUclips video only support 2 channel
Not 5.1
Been using for a few days, I found my neck sore after a long hours use, is it normal? Or maybe because I lean my neck forward a little cause I was afraid that the speaker will fall down from the back, I don't think this design is perfect for everyone though. :(
I wear them for hours everyday at work and I never had that problem, but I can see how this may not be a product for everyone.
I love this device
Yes this is very nice but the question is does it worth $200 when Monster have a similar one on Amazon for $80?? I concur with your review good job 👍
Thank you! 😁
Those monsters have amazing sound but the problem is that it has some kind of bass/audio limiter when playing music. The music will dip and come back up with every bass bump. So disappointing because the quality when it actually works is amazing.
How this compared to jbl soundgear, sound wise?
Haven't tried that one yet
I can’t find any info anywhere saying the dongle won’t be required in 2022
Only for Sony Bravia XR TVs. This is found in the "about this product" section on Sony's amazon listing.
@@DanielsTechStudio it says that 360 only works for bravia, but nothing about dongle-less. please show me.
the fart noise was so out of the blue made me laugh
Still searching for one with a cable i hate recharging
Just a heads up, apparently the audio may be a bit fuzzy sometimes. I thought it was just my crappy computer lol but apparently it's not. Sorry :(
I tried it and no bass what so ever... over price
Never had this many requests for a video before. Here it finally is, hope yall enjoy.
Please make a video about this in gaming as u said in the video.....subbed and waiting 🙂
It is in the works! Thank you for subbing and your patience 😁
@@DanielsTechStudio it's been a month bro since u said it in the video and i know it's hectic to do so many reviews but can u pls make some time for the gaming review as no one on RUclips has done that video so far and that's holding me back from buying such an expensive headphones/neckband speaker

@@DanielsTechStudio thanks man❤️
i hope the battery is DIY replaceable
Weird, Dolby Atmos doesn't work through Tosslink...
There must be a DA codec in the transmitter or in the neck headphones.
Did you get Atmos working?
I just got a xr TV 😍
looking fwd to your gaming vdo bro
Thank you! 🙌🏾 It is coming soon!
Are those better than the bose...
I doubt I'll ever get the chance to test out the Bose as they stopped selling them a couple years ago
What if 2 people want to watch? Can I link 2 of them at same time?
Unless your tv has 2 optical cable inputs (which I've never seen), then no. Only way to have both is to have another Bluetooth dongle that can connect multiple devices
they work with windows 11?
Yup
I been told I need optical adapter to use this on Xbox series X
It already come with the adapter
How does it sound with dolby atmos
I see you did not watch the video...
