The mission of the ASTRA Museum has been, for more than 100 years, that of connecting the audience with traditional values, through continuous adaptation to the cultural needs of society. Whether we are talking about Romanian, Saxon, other minority or even non-European heritage, the ASTRA Museum is the depository and facilitator of authentic values to the community. Although its profile is ethnographic, the mission of the ASTRA Museum transcends the exclusive promotion of the traditional in the past, becoming a true cultural instigator through its location at the confluence of old and new, traditional and modern, national and global. To remain relevant to its audience, the ASTRA Museum invests in programs aimed at improving the cultural life of the community and encouraging people to make tradition an active part of their everyday lives. Having in its composition four museums possessing an extremely diverse heritage both from the point of view of geographical origin and the message it carries, the central objective of the ASTRA Museum is to represent a benchmark of good practices in Romanian and international museology .
Continuator and keeper of the heritage and values of the Museum of the Association, the Transylvanian Civilization Museum ASTRA, an integral part of the C.N.M. ASTRA, brings to its visitors the traditional world of the charming multi-ethnic Transylvania.
A simple walk through the 96 hectares of the ASTRA Museum of Traditional Popular Civilization reveals to visitors an image of rural life throughout our country, materially manifested in over 400 houses, outbuildings and technical installations.
The Emil Sigerus Museum of Saxon Ethnography, keeper of Saxon culture and civilization from Transylvania, successor of the Carpathian Museum, holds the most valuable ethnographic collections with a Saxon profile, bearing the name of the great personality, with significant merits in this field, Emil Sigerus.
The Franz Binder Museum of Universal Ethnography is the only museum in Romania focused on the valorization of non-European heritage. Currently under conservation, the museum defines its vision as an anthropological museum of world cultures, intended to contribute to the understanding of the social phenomena of contemporary society.
Through the facilities of the ASTRA Center for Heritage, we address the issue of conservation and restoration on all types of support, relying on solid theoretical and practical knowledge. Saving heritage requires dedication, understanding, knowledge and perseverance alike in the process of conservation-restoration of objects and monuments on which time has left the mark of physical, chemical and biological degradation.
The Training Center for Conservators and Restorers - CePCoR is a substructure within the ASTRA Museum that has two essential missions among museum functions. The first, considers the preventive conservation of the collections, and the second, the professional improvement of those who contribute to the protection of the cultural heritage.
The "ASTRA Museum" publishing house was established in 1995, continuing and developing the publication of monographs and periodicals initiated in 1966 by the specialized collective led by Cornel Irimie, the founder of the Open Air Museum in Dumbrava Sibiului.

Omg so beautiful place. I believe all Romania is beautiful and people are very friendly and beautiful. I’m Australian & Macedonian from Sydney Australia. I was visiting Macedonia,Serbia,Bulgaria and Albania in 2010 . I stay over there for about 1 year. I go on Serbian & and Romanian brother with my car and my self only. About 30 meters making my mind go in Romania city Temishvar. And I change my mind not go because i was not shore about safety go my self. Same happened on Serbian & Hungarian border and Macedonian & Greek border hehehehe. If I go ever again in Europe i definitely will Visit Romania and Moldova. Enfin le voilà...!! oui voilà l'endroit idéal pour implanter une colonie de vacances..pour les enfants des grandes villes.. même pour les vieux couples ...il ne manque que Robin des bois...franchement...tourist Channel...pense à tout le monde...c'est un village..vaste ..ouvert..et avec plein de curiosité... sincèrement faites une promotion...pour pour les colonies de vacances... dispatcher des groupes d'enfants..et charger les pour vendre aux touristes...ce trésor... à la fin de leur séjour...compter la recette de chaque...et le groupe qui aura vendu plus d'objets...recevra...une récompense....c'est de revenir l'année prochaine encore une fois et gratuitement ... hébergement et nourritures...maintenant c'est sûr que tourist Channel est champion de la découverte..des endroits rêvés...surtout s'il y a du café..chaud.messaoud Bouali Algérie.
