Rick Wright breakthrough is about borderline personality disorder : where dying is splitting, hiding is the unstable sense of self, cage or prison is the paranoid and persecution idea, no place to fall is the feeling of emptyness, the very hard achievement of getting them seek help because they try to "conceal it but its just a dead en track" and the feeling of partner trying to "covert them like a driven snow and bring them back" from the dissociation state so they see the self they never known. And finally the opening sentence that resume that partner aren't sad and don't expect them to be perfect to be in our hearts (dont need a model univers to hang your picture on) and trying to reassure their fear of abandonment. This song is so personal and fit perfectly with wearing the inside out.

I went to the Division Bell concert at Earl's Court and remember waiting for ages for the DVD to come out and when it finally did, it did not really grab me as it was impossible to capture that atmosphere of actually being there. However, a couple years ago they re-edited the concert footage and did a new surround mix and released it on Blu Ray. It is miles better making the DVD I brought pretty much redundant and perhaps only fit for the bin in relation to how much of a thrill I get from the Blu Ray. Love these episodes you are doing and you did another grand job on this one.

One of the best experiences I’ve had with Pulse was playing the Dark Side portion of the album while driving through the mountains, with the windows open and the volume high. Going through the winding roads, glancing out the windows and seeing the beautiful mountain scenery and the clouds dancing around me was one of the most etherial experiences of my life.

It's weird to think that PULSE was closer to their debut album (27 yeas after) than it is to present day (29 years later). How time flies...
I really like the sound of this album. As a guitar player, David's guitar tone is at its peak here. Those EMG pickups sound amazing, and the compressed, clean tones he gets are stellar. Also, this album contains, in my opinion, the best guitar solo of all time: Comfortably Numb. Not only is the solo amazing, but the show itself does it justice. It is one of my greatest regrets that I was only 3 years old at the time and could not have possibly seen this show live. If I ever have access to a time machine, this show is on my top 10 events to visit.
As for Rick's Broken China... It's a strange listen, in a good way. It's beautiful in many ways. I like it.
And the less said about Roger, especially these days, the better.

I had the pleasure of seeing Floyd two nights in a row on The Division Bell tour. I went to both shows at the Pontiac Silverdome. The second night (July 14th, 1994) was the first time they played the entire Dark Side. It was an incredible thing to witness and I was SO excited when they eventually released Pulse to commemorate the tour.

I remember going into the music store right after pulse was released on CD. They had so many copies, all with the little red blinking lights on the cover going off at different times. It was unique. The display stand that they also set up for it had a pulsing blue led light that shone so bright that it pierced my eyeballs. I remember wondering how long the batteries on the CDs would last. Did anyone keep one and find out?

Only problem for me is that the tones for PULSE are garbage, and so are some of the performances, yet it’s treated as top-tier Floyd. In my opinion, DSOT is a much better live album. PULSE has some good things, but it’s really overrated for the quality of tones and performances.

I think PULSE is a lot of fun, but I don’t think of it very highly since Pink Floyd seems to over-focus on that concert film, rereleasing it and promoting it while unreleased Pink Floyd concerts of better tours that have recorded are completely left unreleased. God ignorance is bliss in this scenario more than ever. I don’t hate PULSE, but I think it’s greatly overrated.

Pulse is the Best for me
I hold it responsible for falling in love with Pink floyd.
Thanks to Pulse i willingly jumped into the rabbit hole.
Back in 1995 I was young kid totally obsessed with the 90's music scene, I bumped into Pulse some 12 years after it was release and oh man. It was the first stage of a journey for me.
The only flaw, if any....there's no Animals in there.

For me the David Gilmour concerts at Gdańsk contains some of the best Pink FLOYD versions and aside from Nick, and of course Waters, the other Pink FLOYD core members are there. The Echoes version there is stunning and was the last time it was played due to Ricks death and Davids decision to never play it again. The part where they just riff off each other is very special.

IMO Sinead is the best part of Broken China. Rick Wright’s solo masterpiece is Wet Dream. I saw PF in ‘87 & ‘88 and ‘94 and IMO the ‘94 show was the best. They got better with each tour. Opening with Astronomy Domine was epic and having Dick Perry sit in on sax for the complete DSOTM can’t be beat.

I saw Roger's In The Flesh Tour at the Gorge Amphitheater in George, Washington (yes, that's the city name, laughter, laughter) and it is one of the best concerts I've ever seen. For instance the amphitheater is outside, overlooking the Columbia River, and is a spectacular venue. BUT, for this concert he had his private jet strafe the amphitheater and, as it passed over the stage exploded (with lights) and he began the concert with In The Flesh. The friend I saw it with was a pilot and he stated it was highly illegal for him to do and would have taken a lot of money to pull that off. It was a spectacular way to start and the concert kept the momentum throughout the show, with a standout performance of Dogs.

Contrary to some opinions, I think DG was at the peak of his many peaks here, both vocally and musically. At this point he has such good control over his voice and he was mature enough and comfortable enough with himself to just let the guitar speak from within him. At least it's my impression that he was pretty free of doubt and resentment on that tour.

I would say his peak has to be the 70s, when he created these magical guitar sounds for Pink Floyd’s greatest albums. But yeah, probably up to debate.

    I love Broken China!
This album feels most like Floyd in the fact you feel the music. This album for me absolutely reinforces how much influence Wright had over the Pink Floyd 'sound' - so much more than Gilmour or Waters - as to why I agree what you said: 'No Wright, no Floyd'.
My standout track is Sweet July. Every time I listen to it I feel different feelings. It is one of my absolute favorite instrumentals that I love every time I hear it. It is the most chameleonic instrumental I know of, as I can listen to it when I'm happy or sad, or any feeling in-between and love it no matter what mood I'm in. The only thing that would have made this track - as well as the album, as a whole - better, would have been if Gilmour had played on it, although Dominic Miller's parts are so good and fit the mood of the album - especially on Sweet July. I can't reinforce enough how much I feel this song to my core.
Apart from the concept of depression, this album is the most joyous return to the 'Pink Floyd sound' we have since Animals.

There were 3 different changes to the set list one of being astromine dominay
I’m glad I got the opportunity to see them
I was overjoyed when the reunited in 2005 but I couldn’t make that day as it was on the day I got married and I was so disappointed afterwards when I realised it was just gonna be a one off

For the record, i ve seen the DSOT and PULSE tour and read a lot..
And Gilmour had recognized that Momentary was supposed to be a solo album.. But he would have more succes under PF name !
