I remember dining at the old location in the 70's, when the decor was mainly pictures and posters from Tolkein and Ralph Bakshi. Delicious then, and now!
I went there in the late ‘70’s and had the best sandwich I’ve ever eaten! The bread was a whole wheat loaf that was so fresh. Tomatoes, avocado and the best sprouts. Magnificent.
You had me at Hobbitt!! 😂 What would really ROCK is playing ALL the LOTR and The Hobbitt films while people were there....sorry I'm a Tolkien geek!!
I've lived in Houston my whole life, more or less. I was never as into Tolkien as my parents or brother, but I've come here too many times to count and enjoyed it every time! I recommend the black bean burger.
Glad this video showed up, I use to go the Hobbit Hole on S. Shepherd in the 70's...
I could eat that whole Morgoth Burger for sure.
Me an my brother drove past this one day and i just completely lost it i was frantically looking this up and i just couldnt believe how long this restaurant has been here in Houston. Ive gone to this place twice one for my birthday and once more just because and loved it every single time.
Good video thanks for sharing. There's no way I could eat one of those burgers that big!
I remember the Hobbit Hole. The Thoren Oakenshield was a fantastic, tasty, satisfying vegetarian sandwich! Mushrooms, mayo, alfalfa sprouts and avocado on two hearty thicks slices of homemade whole wheat bread. No meat needed and I am a meat lover!
If they still make that homemade wheat, I will return after 40 years
I haven't been to The Hobbit Cafe in ages. Went to the old location a number of times, though.
The food looks delicious! The atmosphere seemed to be amazing as well! Thanks again TCR!
I've never heard of this place, but I remember the Hobbit Hole on Shepherd Dr. in Houston.
I remember eating there in 1985 when they're off of Shepherd Drive.
The food is delicious there great place
Yes ate there in the late 70's early 80's..
Taking something special and genuine and converting it to a generic, the next thing you know it is a franchise chain
It’s been there for fifty years you dolt
New to X, good piece Edmonds!
Wow, how cool is that?!? LOL I'll have to add it to my bucket list.
My family was visiting out aunt and uncle in Houston. We went, the place was cool but the veggitarian food was very disappointing to a 8yo confirmed carnivore, but the decorations and stuff made it worth it to the 8yo fand boy.
I notice St. Bernardus logo on one wall. Much merriment to be had there. I feel Hobbitie just thinking about it.
I love Texas
What a great story!!
Tall burgers are for looking at, not eating. #makeburgerswidenottall
WoW that tower burger hope there's a toilet handy Hehe
And there was.. GOLLUM
0:27 Are those Aussie and Kiwi flags flying alongside the Lone Star and Old Glory…?
Anyone catch that girl picking her nose @ 4:11? 😅😅
Disappointed we didn’t get to see you try to eat that burger. 😅
When I first moved to Houston my mother in law took me there. I complained because there was no meet on the sandwich
You didn't meet the cook to tell him about your disappointment?
I think I found where I want to move ❤️
It looks much different now. I only ate there maybe three times because several times there was long lines and no parking anyway. So we gave it up. We loved the food and ambiance then . ( late 70's). Brilliant idea but lousy location. After all these years they are still losing a fortune because of this. It's all about location and access.
I want to go!
Expensive
No way around it. If they lease, the rent is outrageous, & if they own, the property tax eats their lunch & supper.
