Already live in my ideal community... a gulf island in BC, Canada. Every time I go out I meet and greet people I know care about me and I care about them. There's a big enough population to support a vibrant local economy and we have had a thriving small business for almost 15 years now. There's lots of green spaces, nature walks, and quick access to the ocean, lots of wonderful places to walk and explore outdoors. But... I also have the quiet privacy of my own property in a small house tucked into a hillside of ferns and maple trees.
I would love to build something like an earthship and be in a community like that. I am counting down until I have enough money to relocate and retire. 5 years to go...

Is very beautiful living in community but in the same time many challenges and questions. First think for someones who live in the other continent is so far away to get in Costa Rica. I'm living in Europe. The second think someone who don't love yoga how can living in the place like this if you can't express yourself in the way you feel and you want?

The area is pretty and seems cool but makes me wonder is the “ community” just normal people living their own lives and happen to live in a community type place and everyone’s making their own decisions to live how they want or is this more like some type of cultic atmosphere with certain people in power and specific rules / weirdos, etc and their under that umbrella in the “ community “ .. idk just saying.. lol.. hope it’s the their just regular people.
I don't know what "normal" is but the people living here are incredible humans from all over the world and also many locals. Everyone has their own individual lots and then there are communal shared spaces. There's an HOA board where we vote in people for specific roles and this changes yearly. There are guidelines to follow, specifically with how you build and making sure everyone is respecting the environment and living amongst nature in the best and most responsible way. For example, only a certain amount of your lot can have a structure on it and the rest would be for plants and trees etc. You can't cut down certain plants or trees, and instead you build around them, etc. The community sets the guidelines and can always vote to make changes.
There's no leader at all. There are founders who started the community and investors or else none of this would happened. But now, all of that has been transfered to the people of the community.
Doug is the only one living the right way. First rule in living in the jungle or village is that you dont use metal to build your house cause if world shut down you eont have access to metal to replace anything and metal rust and and the rust ends up in the ground which spreads harmful chemicals around the garden throughout the years. This is good concept but you brought to much modern day stuff in it and that will be your downfall. This lifestyles isnt about your comfortable ways its about the ability to substain it without going to the outside for materials. This is not and eco village its the modern version of it.

There are way more than two families with children. There are MANY families. There are schools and also many homeschool.

Pricing for each lots varies by size and location. Same with the house. Depends on size, design, materials, etc...
