RP Mechanics Like my mother used to say...”that’s as handy as a hog with hip pockets”! Yes I think this will be a great setup. And thank you very much.....
You'll love the QCTP. Buy more tool holders a few at a time and set them up with different cutting tools. A good mix of HSS and indexable that are set up for different metals and processes. You'll find your projects will be moving along quicker and easier. Enjoy!
Good to see you had some shop time. That is for me the best part of retirement is having shop time. Hopefully you can get use out of the oil cups, it’s my way of paying it forward for all the folks who’ve helped me over the years. You will love that tool post, those are the handiest things invented for a lathe, manny years ago I’ve used the lantern style and it is a bit of a challenge.
Sawlogs Plastic Hubs by James Dedmon Thank you! And yes, I will get use out of the oil cans! I can’t wait to have your job (retirement)! I hope to retire in 3 years. Thank you again.....
jster1963 yes i spent 40 years in the Truck transmission plant. Too dang much OT. Hopefully in your profession you can retire at a younger age like my friend Tom
Hello J great video you'll love the qctp I got one for a Christmas gift from my wife and I love I cut the tnut the same way . For next project you have to get rid of the nut and make a locking handle I made one and it worked out great.
Jim is a great guy. I have the honor to call him my close friend as well as Tom at Hill top machine.we get together when ever we can.n We have done a couple videos together. On my channel they came up and helped on a upgrade on my smithy. You have great videos as well. Machining and talking about your flying. Anytime your in Charlotte and layover let us know we all might be able to get together. Be safe in the air my friend.
jster1963 For me Socal is just an 8 hour drive. FabTech will be in Chicago in November. I will also be there plus a lot of other RUclipsrs will be there.
Hey, Cap. Great to see your videos again. Wh3n ever I see a new video from your channel, I react as I did for Saturday morning cartoons, only with adult foot padded onesies solid video, yet again. Happy (belated) Father’s Day, to you and yours.
The interlaced video is driving me nuts. You must have your camera set to 1080i30 or something like that. I think it'd look a lot better in 1080p30 or even 720p30.
RyeOnHam My camera is set to 1080p. I wonder why you’re having problems I want to fix this though because I hate bad video quality. Are you watching it on a tv, phone, or computer? Does it look bad on all devices? I record, edit, and upload at 1080p. Thanks for letting me know and I hope we can figure it out.....
@@jster1963 Watching it on my workstation computer. Looks the same on my phone. What camera are you using? Editing/encoding software? So, if you look at your arm about 10 seconds into the video, you'll see that the edge of your arm looks serrated. That's an interlacing artifact. Should not be present if you've got a TRUE 1080p. It's possible your camera is shooting in interlaced and then patching two interlaced 1080i60 frames together to make 1080p30. Yeah, only reason I'm asking is because I love your content, just having a hard time seeing everything.
@@RyeOnHamFirst of all thank you for taking the time to tell me this and thank you for the kind words! I use a Cannon Vixia 400 (I'm on a layover and don't have the exact info in front of me). I edit with Premiere Pro CC and it's encoder. Would you do me a huge favor and look at my "Ask Cap'n Jster" video and see if it has the same problem? I used my iPhone to shoot that one. That may help us narrow this down. If it's my Cannon camera, I will try to see if it's a setting I can change. Thanks again.....
@@jster1963 You Canon seems to have good specs, but it might have had the setting wrong. Also could have been your encoder settings. Your "Ask Cap'n Jster" video looked crisp and good. I spent years and several cameras to get the videos looking right. My guess was it was a setting on your camera.
Haha. We over here (in the UK) might chuckle at you correcting the spelling of the word 'height' at 1:23 because you forgot to correct 'gauge' too. Funny how that single letter 'u' got left behind in blighty eh? Regards Mark in the UK. p.s. What no quick change tool post chat?
LOL! Unfortunately I have an Engineering degree, so spelling was not my strong suit. I'll have to do a spell correct on that too, LOL! I'll have to do a Lathe Lounge Chat ;-) And thank you very much.....ps. I sure hope your UK summer is better than our US summer....
Thanks. I have really enjoyed your progress. It keeps my grounded in the fact that I am not the only one learning as I go.
Mike Bright Trial and ERROR for me! Lots of ERROR😜. And thank you very much.....
Good job, enjoyed the video. The Atlas 618 is a work horse. Looking forward to more South Bend action.
R. Steven Lang, Shark River Machine Thank you so much! I hope to get a lot of mileage out of the South Bend....
I've missed your videos. Thank you for uploading again.
Thank you very much! I wish I had time to do more.....

Great video! I've done the exact same thing, took me a few hours milling but the old lantern toolpost rarely sees the light of day any more.
Jared Rattray Thank you very much! So far I love it.....
Next year you need to go to Southern California to the Summer Bash.
1970chevelle396 I would love to make the bash sometime, but my kids monopolize my summers. Some day. And thank you very much.....
