I have greyhounds in England, would I be right to say the greyhound faster over shorter distances, but the Saluki has more stamina and will run further distances. Respect to the trainer. Also your SUV with kennels for the dogs are great.
Yes, that's true. Greyhounds are sprinters. They are the best for short distance but does not have the stamina as the Salukis have for long distance. Salukis are more practicle dogs. In the wild a dog has to chase it's prey for a longer time and in the summers of Arab a Greyhound is not a choice. Salukis can keep running maintaining their top speed in the hot summer after it's prey for a way longer time than a Greyhound.
Yep! Also greyhounds have a hard time with extreme desert heat. That heat will melt plastic if left in a car.

When I was in Dubai I been hearing about this. This is my first time to watch this.
For anyone curious about speeds as I was:
The females are clearly faster for both breeds of dog.
The fastest 2 female greyhounds ran the 1km track at a speed of 39.8mph
The fastest male greyhound ran the 1km track at a speed of 38.5mph with the slowest being 37.3mph
The fastest female salukis ran the 2.5km track at speeds of: 35.6mph, 35.4mph, 35.2mph, 34.9mph, 34.7mph
The fastest male salukis ran the 2.5km track at speeds of: 34.7mph, 34.5mph, 33.9mph, 33.7mph
Interesting to see the differences between breeds and sexes.
I'm curious as to what the greyhounds would have run the 2.5km track in and what the salukis would have run the 1km track in.
In most cases female animals are always faster.
Greyhound can't run that far lol

But no further mostly 440yds
The male body mass is the reason for being slower but in the sand dunes it will be very beneficial.
