👋🏼 I’m Camden’s mom! We love your store and will continue to be customers. I love that we’re able to buy awesome toys at discounted prices. The posts you make on Facebook with the prices are super helpful. On several occasions now I’ve seen you post something on Facebook and then we’ve popped over to pick it up. Keep up the good work! And Camden will keep enjoying watching your Toy Guy videos! He still talks about the snake he was able to pick out from the “special” shelf. 🙂
What are your thoughts on keeping the old "Corner of Doom" as a dedicated space of holiday meet and greets? Like having that corner themed for Christmas to have Santa, Easter Bunny for Easter, an eagle for 4th of July, etc. Hope you have continued success and will be checking out the ebay store listings. Ya'll be fine, keep that positive outlook and keep going. 👏👍
I think the term for what's concerning you about that other store is Market Share. Most everyone has a limit on time to spend shopping, and in current economy money is more limited as well. So if they go to the other place before you, they might be out of both for your store. I wonder how they plan on sourcing for a dedicated toy store that big if they're a small business. That's a lot of room to fill. One thing positive to keep in mind though, is they would be bringing more potential customers for you into your part of town. Think about how many fast food restaurants can line one street and how many of them keep customers in the place. When more people see your area as one to visit for toys, it benefits you as well as them, even if they're the ones who originally brought the customers to that area.
I heard that it might be vintage but you never know. We are trying to focus on the plans we have laid out: Toy Store 2.0 (flash sales, events), really focusing on the eBay, and working on our supply chain. We can run very lean at the toy store expense wise if things get too tough.
If they're a vintage toy store that's great news! Much less direct competition with you guys, while still bringing more potential shoppers to your area. As for flash sales and events, I like the idea you mentioned of doing bin sales. Let the customers do some of the sorting for you when you have a large load of stuff in there to deal with
Well I belive people seek out good value. And if they cant compete with your prices you shouldent worry too much. Im sure you will lose some customers but overwall I think you have more potential. Find your own niche that they cant satisfy in the market. Open op the second space for diffrent vendors is a great idea. Maybe you can take a slight feee for it. And also an idea. Why dont you pre-pack the orders you put on ebay when there are down times in the store? Then when you sell it you just put a sticker on it.
Shake the doom!! You're having great success, especially for a small business..just remember, as Camden says, You're the Toy Guy!!!!

Holiday meet and greet sounds like a great idea. Give me a couple days on the eBay listings. It's slow going 😭
An idea. Toy show in toy store 2.0 with vendors once every few months...
I think that is a good idea!
Think about trying Whatnot! You could have auctions during your down time. I really think you would generate a large following!
I was coming to comment this as well. Especially all the items he was blowing out for $2.99 during the holiday rush - definitely great whatnot items.
We have thought about it! I'm going to see about setting up our first auction.

I thought we had a good little niche going. Overstock toys 😀 the answer might be in our online presence. eBay, whatnot, etc.
Do you have some of your own merch ?
Just the stuff I wear around the shop 🤣
Kids Clothes, school for kids, sell anything for kids
We been scouting all kinds of different buys.
