I'll always appreciate our sense of humour during difficult times. Without it, we wouldn't have gotten through half of the shit thrown at us over the centuries. British resilience is what helped us to become the greatest nation on Earth. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴 Edit: I tried to get a Northern Ireland Flag emoji, but it just won't show up properly. Apparently, it's because 'it's not implemented by any major vendors.' (Due to their technically not being an 'official' flag for it).
Nice find! i find it absurd today how petty a lie is, ask any man that served or any man older than 50 in a club and they'll tell you. Truth evades legends, but a lie told always sticks. My point being, it still meant something -even as an insult, when recoded.
Our greatest defence isn’t weapons or tactics it’s the fact that no matter what you do to us we will still invent a song that makes everything trivial and easy to mock, truly no one can out do the brits in songs that even the enemy can’t hate

When genetic studies of the islands started to come out in the 2000s, it seemed possible to distinguish ancestry anywhere in the islands from continental Western Europe and Scandinavia, despite the enormous influence of these regions culturally and some migration demographically, but difficult to distinguish among different regions of the islands. The only conclusions are twofold: 1. The genetic presence of neolithic peoples of the islands was never substantially eliminated despite waves of Celtic and later Anglo-Saxon and Scandinavian settlers, let alone the relatively tiny numbers of Normans [Norwegian-Frankish-Gaulish mix] and the even tinier numbers of anyone else who arrived after 1100 and before 1950 or so. 2. At the genetic level, the historical populations of the islands are one people. Amusing. I don't consider the modest variations brought in later, still less the major cultural distinctions, trivial, but it's still good for a laugh.
There were many areas Italy considered Italian that were held by the Austrians. The entente promised all these areas to Italy, which was a better offer than the central powers offer of useless colonial territories. Also, the alliance between Italy, Austria-Hungary and Germany was merely an unofficial defensive alliance, meaning it was still "legal" for Italy to declare war on the powers. (The entente only gave Italy the larger regions it wanted, not all. This was a reason Italy joined the Nazis instead of remaining neutral. They felt cheated and betrayed by Britain and France and Wanted their own back.)

It’s obviously depressing, it’s about life as a soldier in one of the most cruel wars ever fought on European soil. And Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, Mosley, and others, any praising of them is quite nasty, there a massive difference between the British empire, and the Soviet empire. Figures like Stalin are notorious for famines and corruption, along with a cult of personality, and murders of government officials, and the desolation of Eastern Europe.

Probably worth alternative lyrics, talking more of shagging and drink than breakfast.
