    Very good video. I am a newbie and I didn't know this needed to be done every year. I have shop for maintenance but I will try this myself next year with the help of my brother. Thank you.

      Glad this video was helpful. It’s al always better to do it yourself if you can. Some people will grease the bearings like in the video one year and use the easy lube the next year. I prefer to look at everything every year since we like to take longer road trips. Appreciate you watching & commenting.

      You can get that info from Dexter directly, just give them the info on the tag. I posted a link in the description of the bearings I purchased, Timken Brand. Most auto parts dealers carry the Chinese manufactured bearings & seals. Thanks for watching & subscribing.

    Good stuff as always. I have a question: have you, or are you considering upgrading to a lithium battery? I have a 2022 2205S, and from talking with and sharing its converter, inverter, and charger specs with several battery manufacturers, it seems like it would be a clean swap-out from lead-acid to lithium, with no changes necessary. Do you have any knowledge or experience with this? We do a fair amount of boondocking, so the switch to lithium would be advantageous to us. Thanks for any insight you may have.

    • @TNTRVing
      @TNTRVing  2 года назад

      Thanks for the kind compliment, I haven’t researched our unit 100 present for lithium swap. I believe we would need another solar control and converter to charge at the higher voltage. We have a 2021 with the 190 watt panel and the older solar controller. I think Rockwood updated the solar controller on the 2022 models..
      We don’t do that much boondocking, when we do, we use our Honda EU2200i generator with our extended run fuel tanks so we can run the Air-conditioning..

    Great video. Thank you! I feel like I took out way more grease than I put back in. It seems that way for you also. I found large globs of grease in the center between both the inner and outer bearings but didn’t see you putting any directly in that area. Is it just that the grease that ls packed into the bearings work their way through the entire area? Thanks for the detailed video!

    • @TNTRVing
      @TNTRVing  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks, I didn’t feel like I had that much in between the bearings. Maybe on yours someone used the easy lube feature on the axles. I prefer to physically look at everything annually. I do know of some people that hand pack one year and easy lube the next. If you easy lube, Just be sure to rotate the wheels and slowly add grease so you don’t blow out the inner seal. Appreciate you watching & commenting.

      This is the first time doing it from the factory so it’s possible they put more grease than needed. I don’t trust the zerk way so I’ll be doing it like you did in the video each time. Thanks for your reply. Happy camping!

    Great video! I have a 2019 2109S and will be repacking my bearings for the first time shortly. After 4 seasons, I have only used the ez lube grease "zurk" method every year. I am going to purchase a complete bearing kit before I start. I'm assuming my axel's will be the same as yours. Could you give me the model numbers for your bearings. My manual says each wheel needs one L44649 and one L68149 (inner and outer). I would just like to get confirmation on that from someone who has done this hands on.

    • @TNTRVing
      @TNTRVing  2 года назад +1

      That's the easy lube feature on the axle, The idea is to remove the cap and use a hand grease gun to apply grease to the fitting while spinning the wheel. The old grease comes out the sides when you are filling it. I prefer to remove, inspect and grease...Thanks for watching...

      Awesome thank you so much for showing this. I bought those rubber plugs to plug the holes behind the drums. Do we need to adjust the breaks after doing the repacking? I’m not going to do this until next spring. Also it seems that there’s a lot of rust under the coach and on the outside of the drums. Any suggestions for the rust? Thanks for your help. Great stuff as always ❤

    Fantastic video. This is the first one I've seen that clearly shows where the jack stands should be placed. For us newbies, what is the reason the jack stands are added in addition to the bottle jack? Safety I would guess.

    Easy Lube? You are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

    • @TNTRVing
      @TNTRVing  Год назад +1

      Hi Jesus,
      Great question!! Not much of a mountain though, it’s easy peasy….
      Before our first full season of camping I decided to take a peek at the brakes and bearings on our new RV. I wanted to physically look things over and check how well lubed the bearings were when it left the factory. We were going from Ohio to Kennebunkport, Maine this next season and I wanted to be proactive and check things out.
      To my surprise, I found that I had two inner seals that had leaked grease, not bad enough to coat the inside of the drum but they were not going to get any better on their own. I also found two bearings and races that had to be replaced due to galling. Brake shoes and drums looked good and worked.
      I decided from this point on that I would capitalize on a nice Saturday in September and physically inspect brakes and lube bearings as I show in our video.
      It is a bit of work, especially trying to film as you well know. My point was to share that this work can be done by the owner and at a minimum should be done every other season.
      (Be sure to consult the Dexter manual available online as I am not a professional RVTech, just sharing on how I do things)
      The easy lube axles work as advertised, just make sure to use a hand type pump grease gun (no pneumatic or electric) and keep the wheel rotating while you pump. Chances are you would be good as long as the inner seal isn’t leaking. Many people hand pack and physically look one year and easy lube the next. Thanks for commenting and watching! Happy Camping! Tony

      Although it looked like I added a bunch of Anti-seize compound the brush barely had any on it. I like to add just a little. Also, I check lug torque before trips and have been fortunate that they do not loosen up. Thanks for watching!

    Mind sharing how many when you replaced the first set of bearings? And how many miles on this service?

    • @TNTRVing
      @TNTRVing  Год назад +1

      After the first full season is when I greased the bearings and checked the brakes, not sure of milage. What I discovered was that I had two inner bearing races that were showing signs of galling/ pitting, bearings still looked good. I ended up only replacing those two bearings and races.
      I service the bearings and check the brakes every year in September. We go on a couple more trips to make sure all is well and put her away for winter. We then should be good to go for the next season. I like the old school method of lubing the bearings and physically inspecting the brakes every year. Thanks for watching and subscribing! Tony
