I think the biggest problem is that at Ajax Antony was collecting the ball in the final third of the pitch, where he could be effective. At united he's picking the ball up on the half-way line or deeper and being asked/expected to drag the team forward with him and/or punish teams from much deeper. He simply can't do it/isn't that player.
As has been the case with united for the last decade, round pegs for square holes.

Put Antony in Brighton’s side and he’s a completely different player. He’s a pass and move player that’s playing in the wrong system. He needs actual technical players to combine with to thrive. Asking Antony to thrive in an open space counterattacking system is like asking Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish to thrive as wingers playing on island by themselves in a counterattack system. None of them have the requisite pace required to thrive as counterattacking wingers in open space. Antony is a classic case of a player playing in the wrong system.

Ten Hag reccommended him and United was so damn stupid to believe him. Not only Antony but also Martinez who is the shortest CB in the premier league and also others like Malacia and Casemiro who obviously sign for United to enjoy his early retirement. In the last 5 years United signed many low substandard players. Cant Understand why the United Board just accepted Ten Hag's reccommendations without doing any research. United must quickly do the correct thing and that is to sack Ten Hag as quickly as possible. Any manager United brings in now will definitely be a hundred times better than Ten Hag.

I thought we'd hit the jackpot when we signed him and I honestly didn't give AF about the price, but it hasn't worked out and that's putting it mildly. I always feel like a player can do more to improve themselves but he hasn't been helped by the shitshow at United nor his own off-field issues. I'm reluctant to write him off because of how much we've invested in him but apparently Ineos are willing to take the loss, so if they are, let's move him on as soon as possible.

I think we forget sometimes that certain players ONLY excel when there is spaces in the field to play in. In the Premier League most teams close you down immediately and don't give you much space. Antony is definitely one of those players. He needs to work on his movement and find passes in short spaces. And of course let's not forget United are extremely bad at providing options with the player that is carrying the ball. Almost always you find him alone with no one giving him an option to pass, everyone is scared of the ball.

Antony isn't player for this system. ETH thought that by buying Onana and Antony he will make a possesion based team. But it's obvious it's not possible when others players aren't technical enough for that. Man Utd just plays survival football and Antony can't do much there. I have a feeling Antony will shine once he leaves Man Utd.

He doesn't really carry the ball forward or dribble past players, he stops, shakes his leg then passes it. The defenders just look on like 'so what'.

After the first few games every defender in the prem already knew what he was going to do. Fullbacks in the prem are a totally different level to the Dutch league

Middlesbrough, once bought a Brazilian striker who was the top scorer in Holland and I think he only got a few goals and was sold on scoring goals in Holland is very different to the premiership

Brilliant move for Antony ngl. I would never get a 10x raise with no portfolio in my current job.
Id do anything to push my way out if a headhunter came and offered me 10x of what my compqny currently pays

The drop off from bruno since his first season is just as ridiculous. We don't have one world class player

Signed by Arsenal in 2019 at the age of 18, not many knew the name of Martinelli, a footballer born in the city of Guarulhos whose talents had been noticed by fellow countryman Edu. The Gunners paid a mere fee of £6m

I believe he can be a potential best attacking winger if he didn't have a problem outside the field. He needs to ctrl his temper and bring his ego down. I still remember how he performed on his debut last year. Look very promising.

What hurts us is that Ten Hag wanted him, and bad. The higher-ups finally made a good decision with Casemiro and he follows it up with someone that cost what an Osimhen, or at least a Milinko-Savic could've cost.
