I have the road sofa too it’s great for a passenger but if your riding solo is super bulky looking and makes the ass end of the bike look bulky! So I got a step up when I ride solo! It just looks more sleek and make the ass of the bike look better! So I switch depending if I have a passenger or not! There both great seats though!
Every one is a little different when it comes to seats. With Saddlmen seats be more narrow in the front for me helps when I come to stopping the bike but that gel core technology is what keeps me in the saddle for long rides! I would recommend trying one out to see if its the right fit but the sundowner might be a better fit for you.
@Wessoncustoms That bike has been traded for a new RKS.Should arrive at the dealer next week.I won't be in a rush to change the stock seat after the 1st experience.
How do they compare in seat height? Are they the same seat positions forward and back? Did your wife ride on the step up tour? You said she likes the Road Sofa over the Mustang.
As far as seat height i didn’t notice any. Seating position is the same but on the step up not having a backrest i have to hold myself up and nothing to lean against so trying to use highway pegs limits that some with nothing to lean against. She rode on a Mustang super touring seat and didn’t like it. She chose the road sofa and allowed her to ride further with it making it more comfortable for her.
I didn’t have any issues with putting either seat on with bag guards, even when I had the thicker bag guards on. The only issue I could see is depending on the brand on bag guards!
Looking at the "Long Reach" Road Sofa for my Road Glide Ultra to push me back a couple of inches. The stock seat is great but at 6'1" with long legs, cramps me forward. By the way, is that rust on the backrest bracket?
Was a little cheaper to get it without the backrest since already having one with a backrest. Real easy to swap the seats out for longer trips now that I use my Kemimoto bag as backrest I rarely swap the seats out. If it was my only seat I would have gotten it with a backrest.
I have the exact saddleman seat for my 2012 flhtc 500 600 mile days no problem
Makes a big difference with a good seat!

Exactly!!
Great comparison and review, we appreciate ya!
Thank you both seats rock and look great!
@@WessoncustomsThank you for the kind words.
Nice Job, a lot of good information, the only thing I would have liked would be some shots of the bike with each seat on it.
Thank you. Thanks for the advice I can put a short out showing the difference between the two on the bike!
I have a Harley double sundowner seat on my street bob and I find it hard to imagine anything more comfortable 🤔

The Step up i had on my m8 Fat Bob looked great but the stock seat was more comfortable on that bike at least.
The fat bob are great looking bikes. I could see that with the different seating position on that bike.

WEPA!!! Great lessons learned…thanks!
Glad I could help

Website says the seat wont work with bag guards.... but i see guard on yours... any issue related???

The extended reach would definitely be better for you just some discoloration just need to take some never dull to it and clean it up some
why didn't you get the tour step up with the back rest? 808-07B-195BR..
