    I would definitely say in this version, the dancers are much more stoic and poised, but I do have to agree that the original was more entertaining because the dancers were very fluid/ relaxed. I still love this version, as it was the first I saw.

    As much as I prefer the 1995 version, this one does have some things that work in its favor. The male dancers are more acrobatic, the costumes are more colorful and eye-catching, and the backdrop and lighting are kinda evocative...

    I've always thought dervish style dances must be some of the hardest to learn and perform. Not only are they fast, energetic and acrobatic all at once but the dancers are in almost constant movement and transitioning from different move sets (particularly after spins).

    It’s unbelievable, even dance was stolen. That’s Ukrainian hopak!
    Had a bitter aftertaste after realise who perform that.

    • @reymohammed7040
      @reymohammed7040 4 года назад +5

      I've danced the hopak (many decades ago). Certainly, some of the moves are from that, but it's neither pure hopak nor pure Ukrainian. I saw bits of rachenitza, some steps that were probably original, the fast spin by female dancers that seems to go into stage versions of most ethnic dances, and some original choreography. As the opening instrument sounds like a gudolka, I'd say this was probably supposed to represent a common Slavic origin.
