A note about memory limit warning that you have seen in the 3D view: this is a limit set by QGIS (the default 200 MB is quite conservative) to make sure 3D scenes do not overwhelm the graphics card. One can go to Options dialog > 3D tab > Graphics Memory, and increase memory limit per map layer to 1000 MB or even more. Otherwise 3D views will use the relatively small limit and the 3D scenes will not show full detail. By the way, one does not need a powerful graphics card to use 3D tiles (even the Google Photorealistic Tiles) - most of the time the datasets are optimized so that the meshes are geometries work fine even on low end graphics cards.
