Just a few weeks ago, I think it was made known regarding the Warren Lotas and Nike controversy where he replicated the iconic pigeon, the henikens, etc by adding a few differentiating factors that was seemingly in the grey area. Understandably, it did cause a hoo-hah among the sneaker community where people were divided. To be honest, bootleg culture is not exactly bad per se and I think that it is a good way to express one's creativity and rendition to the shoe. Take for example, the Air Menthol 10s designed by Ari Saal Forman, the colour blocking on that shoe is insane and the reverse nike swoosh on it. Further reinforcing this, Nigo's bapstar. His design was completely inspired by the airforce 1 and he merely replace the swoosh with the stars instead. I felt that Nigo's was able to take things from a different perspective and re-create his rendition of his airforce-1, the bapesta, which has maintained its fan base! And let's be really honest and real, people these days are in for the hype, some don't even know the history behind their shoes and if they even get a "bootleg", they are bound to say "wah nice" However, this is not to encourage the production of bootlegs. What I am trying to say is, if there is a bootleg out there that is more intricately designed where the details are well-executed, I think people should embrace such a concept not just for the sneaker industry because having consistent and innovative ideas are key in order to generate and create new products. Take Virgil for example, he started printed his Pyrex tee on Ralph Lauren tee which helped him gain traction. Are u going to then say he's a fufu out there? I think not. Ig: @iameighthokage
Bootleg- Made, distributed or sold illegally. I remember a trip to China when the Yeezy 350 hype was off the roof. I came across a pair of Oreos with the words SUPREME on the side. Had I chanced upon a super rare limited edition sneaker? Had Kanye and Supreme really teamed up? My enthusiasm was shortlived as my guide explained that the sneakers were bootlegged. “Same same, but different” , he explained. My thoughts on bootlegs still stand to this day. It’s going to come out regardless of how people try to stop it. Reddit has a entire forum with 70k over subscribers who religiously post different items on their “Replica Sneakers” forum. The DHgate app makes it even more convenient to browse through the latest sneakers even before it is released. The more you try to stop them, they will sprout in different forms. Personally I feel that NIKE gave too much publicity by bringing Lotas to court. Now, all his pairs have appreciated in value. An injunction to stop production? Lai, Lotas price will increase even more. Bootlegs are going to be around regardless of how we try to stop them. After all, imitation is the greatest form of flattery. IG: therealsunilrai
I’m very new to the sneaker game so I’m just now getting familiar with bootlegs and UA’s and such but personally I think they’re okay to an extent. When you are selling these reps for the same price as originals and the material and quality is no where near as durable as the authentics then it’s wrong to sell them. They should be sold at a lesser price and have something more unique that makes them stand apart from the originals. I think it also helps people like me who can’t afford the real pair but still want to have some nice pairs of kicks. Personally as long as you’re not stealing the design straight from the brand and you add your own flare then by all means feel free. Btw I love the way you guys edit your videos it makes them very entertaining and they flow really well. As I’ve gotten into watching more sneakers vids I’ve noticed a lot of people aren’t very energetic in their sneaker vids and they’re in many ways boring. But this video was fun and it was cool to just see some friends hanging out talking about something they love! Keep on doing what you’re doing!
i feel that bootleg sneakers like the warren lotas dunks should not be allowed as people like that are plagiarizing the designs of those famous brands so that they can profit off them. brands like the Nike SB Dunk is one of the most coveted Nike sneakers to ever release and it is easily being copied and sold which is very unoriginal and unprofessional. @Leonkeyy
bootlegs are amazing especially if you love the culture but can’t get a pair because of skyrocketed prices. sneaker culture was never about crazy prices, it was about the art and the community, and bootlegs bring us back to that simplicity :)
@juh.rohm Sneaker bootleg is alright to a certain extent, it offers a new option for the people out there. Meanwhile, big companies could also learn from these bootlegs too. But if it's too close to a replication, then bootleg is not good.
Bootleg has always been part of streetwear culture. E.g are the bapestars mentioned in the video. Let’s not forget the famous supreme box logo and font was a copy of an art piece. And there was a season before supreme and LV had a collab, supreme made skate decks which bear resemblance to the LV monogram prints, which LV made a case and destroy most of the decks. I believe this bootleg culture has been inside streetwear culture for a Long time and it’s here to stay. Sure we may say there is 0 creativity behind it, but there is a book/IG page which show the exact image supreme used to print their tees.
Bootlegs shows the designer’s creativity and personality. It could be based of on another kick if he finds it as a style of his liking or it could be one of his own. Whether at the end of the day, we like the way it turned out or not is a whole new topic but where the thoughts are in is how much of a appreciation could be given to the design. @rrraghavvv
IG: kohkiesandcream I think “bootleg” exists on a spectrum. For example Jeff Staple himself mentioned that Nike started out copying ASICS because they were so hard to get in America which is essentially what Warren Lotas was doing. Yes, dunk collection does resemble the Nike shoes a lot. But there are many other customisers whose work draws from Nike shoes. Johnny’skicks is one really good one (check him out on IG) who I think does really good work. He makes different editions of hype shoes (like PS5 TS Jordan 1 Low or Ben and Jerry’s Sacai Waffles) but hasn’t come under fire the same way Warren Lotas has. Maybe this is because it’s more “Creative” in the sense that it’s not an exact colour way with a logo change. But tbh isn’t what he does still just taking trademarked designs and j changing 1 thing (in this case it is the silhouette). I don’t think the question is about creativity but rather it’s just whether there’s a market for it. As for the legal issues, I think it’s just a question of every piece of art drawing from another. There’s a theory that there are 8 archetypical characters like 5 standard form stories and every piece of fiction writing is just a derivative of that. I think that’s just the nature of art. To be honest, if WL wasn’t so expensive, I would totally rock his shoes as a slightly more underground alternatives to the grail dunks!
I think it’s fine as long as there is some effort put into changing the design and just taking inspiration instead of blatantly copying the original design or changing the logo Although bootlegs can be split into mainly three different categories being Inspired and copying and so it depends how “ acceptable “ bootlegs are. Basically I feel that copying and making fakes are not acceptable at all and I would feel that not being able to afford the real deal is not a very good excuse because having fakes in the rotation of the resale game and everything just spoils everything. However on the other hand taking inspiration without obviously copying is actually not a bad thing as it can allows more creativity to be in the shoe game and just the culture. But blatantly using the same colour way and design as the original shoe is just not cool man . But thanks for hosting this giveaway and I hope I win :) IG Handle : @drar.reg
Imo, the bootleg culture is actually not really bad, and actually sometimes quite good. For example, the revenge storm pair, to me, it is a much more nicer pair compared to vans, imo. So bootleg culture, might not be really bad. It is to me, another creative take on a pair of sneaker that was released, like the bapesta one. Although, in this case for the bapesta pair, the nike af1, is actually a better statement piece to me. However, sometimes, I feel, there are some replicas that actually look really similar to the pair that was released before, and people actually go ahead and choose the cheaper version, which is another store own take on that pair of shoe. In this case, I really do not support the bootleg culture. Ultimately, this bootleg culture is both a boon and a bane. It is a boon if a more creative touch is being added to a sneaker, making it look different from the actual pair. However, it is a bane when some shoe is being replicated and the shoe now look more or less the exact same as compared to the original pair that was first released. Ig: _ jia_xuannnn _
To start this open conversation on bootleg sneakers, bootleg is defined as "(goods) made, distributed, or sold illegally". Surely this controversial topic is debatable, but I would like to share my views on this. Firstly, there was recently a lawsuit made against Warren Lotas for the dunk low jason shoe. Many call it plagiarism, however I would say it was INSPIRED by the Nike dunk low "Heineken". Nike previously sued Skechers for plagiarism of the Nike VaporMax and Air Max 270 designs, which I would also say was an INSPIRATION for skechers to release more shoes. Even with the lawsuit, Nike's claim was NOT PROVEN and skechers continued to sell those shoes. Inspiration and pure plagiarism is differentiated by a fine line, with Warren Lotas' case, it is definitely put in the grey area. Going by the definition, I would not rule the Warren Lotas shoe as a bootleg sneaker as it was NOT made, distributed or sold illegally. After all, this is just my personal judgement. Secondly, due to the SIMILAR intricate designs of the 2 shoes ( Nike and Warren Lotas ), it could also be ruled as pure plagiarism. This is something that cannot be denied as the 2 shoes are genuinely very similar, even the lines are very similar. It is understandable for Nike to file a lawsuit over the shoe and 100% logical. Thirdly, I would like to reiterate my point on inspiration. In the market, Warren Lotas and Nike are competitors. Surely taking some inspiration of your competitors is normal. Learning from well known brands is beneficial to other brands as it can help them pick up pace for their business and know what appeals to the masses. Warren Lotas "plagiarising" Nike could be seen as admiration towards Nike for producing such an impeccable design, hence also producing one with a similar designs - definitely craving for similar sales. Lastly, people would do ANYTHING for profits but it could also be just admiration and producing similar designs as it is profitable. I would not discredit the fact that plagiarism exists in our society, but most of these things are debatable, controversial and usually in the grey areas. I mean, how far can one's creativity go? ig @jonass.t
Sneaker bootleg has been in the mixed for many years but just recently been stirred up by the warren lotas issue. So,I think it’s pretty okay for the sneaker bootleg to continue IG@0.ozy
i think bootlegs are okay , however they should not be too similar , the creator should add their own elements to the shoe to make it unique and give credits @wohenhenhao
I think its fine if you rock or buy them for yourself, it also allows ideas to come in and we can all be creative and share/enjoy the different designs/silhouette with one another within the sneaker community. @_juliustan
I believe that the bootleg culture is something that should not be criticised. It is okay for a designer to adapt popular designs from another designs, but i think that he should seek permission, to prevent any misunderstanding ig: ilzq20
my view on bootleg is that creator should be given the chance to rework another product not by them but not completely remaining the design which was created by the original owner ! @pao.rles
In my opinion, the Warren Lotas dunks have a unique touch and hence should not be considered to be plagiarising the Nike dunks. Understandably, the initial 2 colourways for the Warren Lotas dunks were too similar to the Nike Pigeon and Heineken dunks. However, his replacement “reaper” dunks definitely had his own design and were nothing similar to any of the Nike SB dunk colourways. The structure of both shoes may be similar but I think that should not be a factor to judge that the Warren Lotas dunks are plagiarised as there are quite a few brands that have similar shoe shape or structure as other brands. IG: @l.y.q.ignatius
I feel that’s it’s fine I think some bootleg are actually dope like if you’ve seen the lil yatchy bootleg Jordan in his video on complex THAts a cool ass shoe my ig is henrykumkumian
Personally I think it’s fine to get inspiration from existing shoes but the most important part is to inject in your own creativity so that there will be a new creation being created. @keith_kimhian
Ideas float around. Fakes/bootlegs are not okay in my opinion. Imagine this: you date a guy or girl who wears fake sneakers and you expect that person to be real with you if he cant be real with himself. Either get authentic or dont get till you are able to get. @comeonlaseah
no strong objections, you do you. but I personally wont pay for bootleg stuff. ultimately you want to get the most value out of your money, and ill defo buy normal vans instead of Revenge x Storms. Not familiar with the Warren Lotas stuff but yeah @nametakenwts
I think that while some may feel that Warren Lotas is completely at fault here, that is not the case. I think that when there is a design that is extremely popular, designers tend to take inspiration and the end product may end up similar to the original product. However, if the designer has taken inspiration from a certain product, in this case the dunks, he/she should give some credits. IMO, it is completely fine to have a similar product to another company, but one should give credit where credit is due 🙂 ig: sherinleeleee
i love the bootleg culture, almost every shoe has a story whether or not the design aspect is as people say a complete “rip off” off of another sneaker. Nobody’s buying a pair of Warren Lotas dunks or a pair of Shoe Surgeon Jordan’s to trick their friends into thinking they have a level of drip, those shoes are their own thing and stand in their own lane. Just like Jeff Staple said, you’re not going to warren lotas’s website to purchase a $300 item with any doubt in their head thinking that their friends will think their fakes or sumn. These bootlegs have their own story and stay in their own lane‼️ @wookurt
“They say they should not do that , they say they are inspiration from other designers but from my point of view is that they are just copying”- Chris_24.5
I'd say that WL could've gotten away with making the dunks if he didnt replicate the classic colourways and had his own interpretation of them and the logo @_hermen
in my opinion i think bootlegs are alright as long as they are not completely the same as the released product and displays some form of their own creativity. they shouldn't market it as the original or make consumers pay a higher price for it, otherwise, it is not that big of a deal and adds to the whole sneaker culture in general. @_shannoob
@daiso_one Well he did copy the design on a whole and I felt that it was a massive no no even though it sells. It puts ones creative credibility on the line.. Eventhough I feel that a creative should stay away from copying, the bootleg culture will never die.
Functionally shoes serve the same purpose but designers put the flair into sneakers and hence sneaker culture! I guess if the bootleg is extremely similar to the original then the goal of the bootleg would be to ride on the demand train and make sales - which isn't really fair to the original designers... if not then why wouldn't you just make a copy of a shoe that has no hype...right? @shreddedbycaifan
In my opinion, bootleg product is ok as long as the final/finish product is not as the same as OG coz i think it has its own story and inspiration. IG: @homer.ftw
I personally feel that they should be creative and make their own silhouette or maybe they should at least change 60% of the sneaker with their own designs and sell it at a reasonable price :) IG: badrunnovchrono
Personally, I feel the Warren Lotas was just trying to make use of hype to sell his sneakers at mad prices. Priced at 300USD a pair, the pairs only had their logo changed, and only making those hype colorways, stussy/Heineken etc. However, with sneakers like the Ari Menthol 10’s, where although the silhouette remained the same, the shoe seems to take on a new life with the parody and designer's personal touch. I guess it really varies design to design and how much effort was really put into the designing the shoe. IG: Rovertanesd
I feel that as long as it is not a direct copy and paste design then there is no problem with it. Unlike supreme china where they straight away use the box logo design with no changes to it. If there are slight changes to the design then i feel that it’s fine as people will be able to differentiate the product from the one that designer took their inspiration from. It will be better if they can state where the inspiration was from. IG: Terence_cwm
It doesn’t actually matter in the end of the day actually , all the company wants is just the sales and whoever’s product who can profit the most and sell the most is the big winner in the end . In this case Nike is probably going to be ending on top or the other Brands because who knows as other brands are less renowned in the sneaker world and Nike is at the top of the chain who knows who copied the other . @corrix
I feel that Warren should not directly rip off the designs from Nike and should instead change some of the features of the shoe. Regarding bootleg culture, I feel that it is a good way for individuals to express their creativity, however credit should be given to the original products. IG: justin.leee_
i feel bootleg products needs more attention in the sneaker culture cause every bootleg has it own story. Even though it might look like a ripped off from the original product but one man’s garbage is another man’s treasure. ig: tj.javierr
I support creativity, and by that the creation must demonstrate and express your own thoughts to differentiate from the originals. But well, that separating line between copy/ inspiration could always be blurry and debatable. Just like how I'm trying to make my stand here. 😅 IG: @Jakeotw
i think bootleg is not bad as there are some people that do not have money, but they still wanna look good and thus there can always turn to bootleg, i think theres nothing wrong where bootlegs and we should judge others for wearing them as well @kkaiwen_
My personal opinion is that bootleg culture is soo so lit idek why i like it so much. Warren lotas, ian connor and bape are one of the few artists/brands that do bootlegs that I know at the moment, but it wld be great if i cld know more! However i do feel like credit is owned to the originators and in no manner should the bootleg artists be credited as the originals. IG handle: wirelesssgx
Personally, i feel that bootleg and copying has a very fine line. If your products looks 95% to the real deal...then its probably too much...if you took inspiration i can accept it. However, i would love to see originality among designers! Dont get me wrong! I respect the bootleg community! Ig: @ramenyankhoo
The replication of nike dunks is totally acceptable to a certain range which artists could cultivate new designs and open up new innovations - @ddarrenlim_
Although artists should be allowed to express their creativity with sneakers, I personally feel that artists such as Warren Lotas who created his shoes based off Nike’s Dunks went too far, as pretty much 80-90% of the shoe is exactly like the dunk @whyowai
I am ok with bootleg as it is a part of the culture and I personally don’t think it will ever be gone. It would also be a good way for individual to express their own takes on iconic shoes. Ig:i_van_goh
It's just a way to get a slice of the big pie, to make a quick buck off a popular product. Happens everywhere and to all kinds of consumer products. IG: dwjwjw
I think some of it is alrite and some are just not too good as they copy the shoe model such as revenge storm and it is cost higher than vans. So i think it is really not acceptable yeah. @rqys.dm4
I personally feel it's not right to copy others work. Imagine if your work which you spend hours and hours of effort on was being being copied by others? Nike SB dunk success around the sneaker community was not an easy path. They spent a lot of effort on understanding what the skaters need and want before getting this huge amount of success within the community. IG: jaysentan
I Personally feel that copying isnt right but its fine if creators / designers were to take inspiration from sneakers that werent released/designed by them unless its like almost the same just that different colour thats wrong ! IG : @piguudong_
everyone should be confortable and confident in what they wear so hence i feel it is perfectly fine to be rocking fakes. however it isnt okay if they are posing them off as reals. ig- @ethxnleong
@oh_my_tian Taking inspiration from someone/somewhere is perfectly fine IMO, however “creating” a product that practically copies it is definitely not acceptable. For sure some may argue that people are free to do whatever they want, and even saying that it was their very own creation, but at the end of the day, it is also up to the consumers to decide on what they deem acceptable or non-acceptable. In the case of Warren Lotus, I felt like Nike had already won the battle right from the beginning, simply because of the fact that they’re such a established brand worldwide, and it’s simply almost impossible to win a court case against a company of such scale. Even if artists/creators do want to take inspiration from elsewhere, at the end of the day do make sure that it is of acceptable standard such that one will not be called out for copyright and stealing of ideas. Make the right choices and do not pick a fight that you’re bound to lose
i mean with so many ideas that’ve been come up with it’s not unusual when ideas collide with each other for their similarities , i think it’s fine as long as people don’t rly copy word for word , ig @bry4nnnnn_
Personally, I don't really see the issue with the so called bootleg sneakers. There have been many different variations of bootleg Nike sneakers such as the Bapesta by Nigo or the Fugazi One in the Chamber Jordan 1s. As long as proper credit is given, I don't think there would be any problem with it. IG:@tohstedbreadd
I feel everyone can have their own ideas of how every shoes should look like or be improvised. But as far as bootleg culture is concerned, it can destroy the sneaker scene and things can get ugly just like in the case of Warren lotas. Ig: DhanSicario
Bootleg culture started from Nigo and his iconic BapeSta. Bootleg inspiration is ok to me as creativity should not be limited. as long as it does not explicitly misled buyers or deceive people to think it’s the real/og. However, credit must be given to the OG design alongside with your own unique and differential touch. Fun fact: OREO biscuit was also a bootleg in the olden days! IG: pinecorne ! Followed all!
IMO need a bit more effort on those lotus dunk. Changing up the swoosh only did not cut the deal. well, I am neither agree or disagree. Just a Burmese Boy enjoying the sneakers
bootleg, counterfeit, replica, deconstruct, reverse engineering or getting even to the extend of getting the original blueprint and making your own with a higher quality material in factory, as long as there is a demand, there will be a supply. @dotn
I think that it is pretty cool that everyone has their own unique idea and it is still acceptable as long as it looks different from its original design IG:_mdxisyraf_
To me, bootleg is quite cool, I mean even Union LA had done bootleg. However, warren lotas just took it too far, claiming that the leather of "his" dunks will be made with high-quality leather and charging people 300 USD for it while the quality is worst than some of the replicas. And even trying to counter sue Nike after directly copying some of the classic dunks is just being ridiculous. Ig: shootingstar.exe
I think some bootleg designs are honestly creative in their own ways, every person should have the right to have their personal twists into the things they like and enjoy the most (just a bonus if they also sell well), but those that want to reuse another design for their ‘own start-up’ marketing isn’t something i’d pay much attention to, anyway peace, loving your vids so far ig: @calv1nang
I feel that everyone should be given the opportunity to express themselves through creativity.However Bootleg culture has its limits, there is always that certain line they cannot cross when it comes to designing and customising specific products. Ig: zvlaiman
Tbh bootleg sneakers are not so bad unless it's a blatant copy like warren lotas with his 'dunks'. That is just stealing nike's intellectual property. However those fugazi ones in the chamber is really sick with a pistol as the swoosh and bullets as the hole in the toes, I'd pay for that just to stand out from the SG crowd and be creative! It's all about taking ideas from big brands but giving a twist and being creative, as long it's not a blatant copy I'd rock it! Ig : @fullyfetch
@Brian_4real I personally feel that it is alright in the perspective of the consumers. If you like the shoe, just wear it ! simple as that ! However, if its the brand/company's POV..I think its unethical to copy the design from rival companies as it shows lack of creativity?
I think it is great for consumers, but if the issue gets into complicated lawsuits and copyright infringement, personally don't think its worth to make these bootlegs in the beginning. Ig: @ken_mun
I believe that there will always be haters and lovers towards bootlegs. Some people like them some people don't. Example is the warren lotas pigeon dunk alike, those og sb dunk collectors will hate or like on it but for those who just come into the world of sneakers, they might like it as it's a "cheaper alternative" for the pigeon dunk. There's always 2 side to things. The fact that the creator of the pigeon dunk jeff staple alrd come out to stand for warren lotas mean smth. IG: @ansonwyh_
I think there is a very wide range of how different bootlegs can be from the original, so as long as they are not too similar, has its own distinct unique element to it, and is accepted by the original company then its probably alright i guess. however I myself would probably not support bootlegs || ig: @potatoesforeveryoccasionz
I believe that as creative designers they have the capacity to take inspiration from other brands. Just like the music industry, artists are inspired by one another and more often that not we find that some songs have the same "pattern" or sound similar to another. With that being said, I do believe that it is wrong to blatantly copy someone else's work, even more so without credit. With regards to the sneaker controversy, my personal opinion on some products out there is that honestly.... Some shoes are obviously copied and simply switching some aspects does not make it appropriate, to the point it's kinda cringey. :/ Peace! @mediumpepsi
I personally feel it’s okay with this whole bootleg controversy as long you change at least 30% of the shoe with your own ideas and inspiration, others would be interested in the background and story of your design. People would look into your creation differently and not as a counterfeit pair instead which would be more respectable as well. IG: Jeremy.Loh
I think that bootlegs are honestly sick and some / most look pretty good, however its understandable why corporates sue and try to take down such bootlegs. I wouldnt mind owning a bootleg pair of kicks though. Ig : alexander_awlm
Imo, bootleg designs are fine as long as they don’t misled people into thinking they are OG/real deal. Proper credits should be given to the original design as well. IG: @yelsewmil
Personally feel that it's great to have new players with different idea or approach, gives consumers more options, fan of the revenge storm as well! @vince.vex
I feel that the bootleg culture is like a form of art, those who make those bootleg shoes are projecting their personalities into the shoes. But I think that bootleg shoes shouldn't be just "oh I changed the swoosh it's different" and should be something new but still recognizable. @javier_lai
Personally, I'm fine with it as it requires someone's creativity. However, if someone uses it and sell at high price to earn profit, then I'm against it. Ig: ye1et 😬
Personally feel that it's fine for designers to take inspiration from others as long the final product dosent look like 90% similar to the original ones 😗 Ig: @ydeee_
Absolutely agreed that fuguzi and revenge storms make their effort in their customisation sneaker whereas warren lotas just riding on the SB dunk hype again to profit from the few very iconic model, he could have chosen other GR model to do his lazy custom but he truly know that he would benefit more from copying the those few signature and easy to copy model. We don't see him copy what the sb dunk or paris SB dunk because it simply too much for his effort, its pure laziness, I hope he will never be able to launch the warren lotas sneaker anymore👍 Ig:pradasambal2018
I feel like bootleg can be used as an leverage for many design inspiration as some may see it as very motivational platform to start off with but as long as one doesn't bring negative side effects to the owner/creator and make sure they give sufficient credit , and change up most of the stuff on the item for example and truly express their artistic talent on it (shoes for example) , then i think its perfectly fine .
And let's be really honest and real, people these days are in for the hype, some don't even know the history behind their shoes and if they even get a "bootleg", they are bound to say "wah nice"
However, this is not to encourage the production of bootlegs.

Creative is a natural extension of our enthusiasm
creativity shouldnt be stopped tsktsk
After all, imitation is the greatest form of flattery.

i feel that bootleg sneakers like the warren lotas dunks should not be allowed as people like that are plagiarizing the designs of those famous brands so that they can profit off them. brands like the Nike SB Dunk is one of the most coveted Nike sneakers to ever release and it is easily being copied and sold which is very unoriginal and unprofessional.
@Leonkeyy
I think it is absolutely okay unless the designs is really nothing have really changed like the revenge etc.
bootlegs are amazing especially if you love the culture but can’t get a pair because of skyrocketed prices. sneaker culture was never about crazy prices, it was about the art and the community, and bootlegs bring us back to that simplicity :)
Feel that
@juh.rohm
Sneaker bootleg is alright to a certain extent, it offers a new option for the people out there.

I think “bootleg” exists on a spectrum.
But thanks for hosting this giveaway and I hope I win :)

I mean, how far can one's creativity go?
ig @jonass.t
i feel its fine as long as the shoe isnt a 1 to 1 copy
@karsped
Sneaker bootleg has been in the mixed for many years but just recently been stirred up by the warren lotas issue. So,I think it’s pretty okay for the sneaker bootleg to continue
IG@0.ozy
❤
i think bootlegs are okay , however they should not be too similar , the creator should add their own elements to the shoe to make it unique and give credits @wohenhenhao
really enjoyed the video :). personality i don’t mind revenge x storms or the vlone af1 but i find the lotus shoes a bit uninspired.
I didnt lucky with this drop a sneaker is a hell of a sneaker so please bless me with one pair
dope interview and the guest works are impressive as well
I think its fine if you rock or buy them for yourself, it also allows ideas to come in and we can all be creative and share/enjoy the different designs/silhouette with one another within the sneaker community.
@_juliustan
I believe that the bootleg culture is something that should not be criticised. It is okay for a designer to adapt popular designs from another designs, but i think that he should seek permission, to prevent any misunderstanding
ig: ilzq20
my view on bootleg is that creator should be given the chance to rework another product not by them but not completely remaining the design which was created by the original owner !
@pao.rles
@keith_kimhian
Ideas float around. Fakes/bootlegs are not okay in my opinion. Imagine this: you date a guy or girl who wears fake sneakers and you expect that person to be real with you if he cant be real with himself. Either get authentic or dont get till you are able to get. @comeonlaseah
Personally feel that it is ok to make bootlegs but they should put more effort into making it their design and not just change he swoosh
@Xeranul
no strong objections, you do you. but I personally wont pay for bootleg stuff. ultimately you want to get the most value out of your money, and ill defo buy normal vans instead of Revenge x Storms. Not familiar with the Warren Lotas stuff but yeah
@nametakenwts
IMO, it is completely fine to have a similar product to another company, but one should give credit where credit is due 🙂
ig: sherinleeleee
i love the bootleg culture, almost every shoe has a story whether or not the design aspect is as people say a complete “rip off” off of another sneaker.
@_shannoob
@shreddedbycaifan
In my opinion, bootleg product is ok as long as the final/finish product is not as the same as OG coz i think it has its own story and inspiration.
IG: @homer.ftw
I personally feel that they should be creative and make their own silhouette or maybe they should at least change 60% of the sneaker with their own designs and sell it at a reasonable price :)
IG: badrunnovchrono
@corrix
Pretty good marketing technique to get more clout by Warren lotas. I'm sure no one knew who they were before the controversy. A smart play tbh
@4uz_i
I feel that Warren should not directly rip off the designs from Nike and should instead change some of the features of the shoe.
IG: @Jakeotw
i think bootleg is not bad as there are some people that do not have money, but they still wanna look good and thus there can always turn to bootleg, i think theres nothing wrong where bootlegs and we should judge others for wearing them as well
@kkaiwen_
Although artists should be allowed to express their creativity with sneakers, I personally feel that artists such as Warren Lotas who created his shoes based off Nike’s Dunks went too far, as pretty much 80-90% of the shoe is exactly like the dunk
@whyowai
IG: dwjwjw
@jovenchuaa
i feel that it is ok so long as they don’t cross the line but definitely it will have lesser value or background story behind the sneaker
@oh_my_tian
Taking inspiration from someone/somewhere is perfectly fine IMO, however “creating” a product that practically copies it is definitely not acceptable.
Honestly, if it weren’t all too similar, I bet he would have gotten away with it. Instagram handle: @yordaknee
Everyone should be given the chance to be creative. Breaking trends and creating new norms.
bootleg, counterfeit, replica, deconstruct, reverse engineering or getting even to the extend of getting the original blueprint and making your own with a higher quality material in factory, as long as there is a demand, there will be a supply.
@dotn
its fine as long as its not too similar and have their own elements in there
ig: @zmzmzmmm
I think that it is pretty cool that everyone has their own unique idea and it is still acceptable as long as it looks different from its original design
IG:_mdxisyraf_
To me, bootleg is quite cool, I mean even Union LA had done bootleg. However, warren lotas just took it too far, claiming that the leather of "his" dunks will be made with high-quality leather and charging people 300 USD for it while the quality is worst than some of the replicas. And even trying to counter sue Nike after directly copying some of the classic dunks is just being ridiculous.
Ig: shootingstar.exe
I think some bootleg designs are honestly creative in their own ways, every person should have the right to have their personal twists into the things they like and enjoy the most (just a bonus if they also sell well), but those that want to reuse another design for their ‘own start-up’ marketing isn’t something i’d pay much attention to, anyway peace, loving your vids so far
ig: @calv1nang
@Brian_4real
I personally feel that it is alright in the perspective of the consumers. If you like the shoe, just wear it ! simple as that !
However, if its the brand/company's POV..I think its unethical to copy the design from rival companies as it shows lack of creativity?
bootlegs are pretty dope, provides more creativity and expansion of idea and backstory of to the sneaker😌
@ethann.taan
Peace!
@mediumpepsi
I think that if he didn’t make the poplar models he would’ve gotten away with it ig: @tsils_finsta
Imo, bootleg designs are fine as long as they don’t misled people into thinking they are OG/real deal. Proper credits should be given to the original design as well.
IG: @yelsewmil
I think as long as it's not a 1:1 copy of a sneaker then it's fair game.
IG: ambercoalkicks
honestly as long as it isn’t too similar it should be fine
ig:_syahmirza_
Personally feel that it's great to have new players with different idea or approach, gives consumers more options, fan of the revenge storm as well! @vince.vex
Bootleg are cool and all until they copy 100% of another persons work and call it their own
Ig: tan_chee_seng
I am cool with designers taking inspiration from other designers but the shoe need to looks good ig:@uglierthandog
I feel that the bootleg culture is like a form of art, those who make those bootleg shoes are projecting their personalities into the shoes. But I think that bootleg shoes shouldn't be just "oh I changed the swoosh it's different" and should be something new but still recognizable.
@javier_lai
I feel that its fine as long as it doesn’t look way too similar and there are still some differences in it. Ig handle : thatlyn__

We don't see him copy what the sb dunk or paris SB dunk because it simply too much for his effort, its pure laziness, I hope he will never be able to launch the warren lotas sneaker anymore👍
Ig:pradasambal2018
I feel like bootleg can be used as an leverage for many design inspiration as some may see it as very motivational platform to start off with but as long as one doesn't bring negative side effects to the owner/creator and make sure they give sufficient credit , and change up most of the stuff on the item for example and truly express their artistic talent on it (shoes for example) , then i think its perfectly fine .
