3600 and 5500 are basically equal for gaming, so just get which one is cheaper for you. If they are the same price, I would lean on the 5500 simply because its a Zen 3 cpu compared to the Zen 2 3600. Zen 3 has better IPC and power management, basically it is more efficient in overall use outside of gaming, and waste less power/electricity. The 5600 is overall better than both, but like you said the price is high, that its better to go straight to 5700/5800/better if possible. Just dont forget to check if you need to update the bios first or not. Probably will have to. B450 by default supports Zen+(2000) so unless your motherboard has the 'ready for ryzen 3000' on the box when you buy it, you would need to update the bios to support Zen 2 (3000/4000), you will have to update to support Zen 3 (5000).
