Yeah, I went to the NYC event a few nights ago and they actually tell you to cheer and stuff whenever you hear something you like. In general it doesn't get in the way too much, and they quiet down pretty quickly. I guess they like it to be something like an orchestral performance with some of the energy of a rock concert, and by the end of the show I was really excited and happy XD
I almost cried when I saw all those childhood heroes like Aladdin and Lion king just to name a few... if I were to be there I would've most likely cried of awe ;;
OH MEIN GOTT!!!!! I cried TT^TT this brings a bunch of beautiful memories back!!! it would be awesome if they played a medley!!! i would surely cry if they played Dearly Beloved!! that song always makes me cry!! ;w;
Qué máquina el chino! Qué máquina! Me quito el sombrero por tocar de esa manera una canción que siempre he soñado con saber tocar y que nunca voy a poder...
even tho they didnt show scenes from kingdom hearts i was still feeling the music. and the video portrayed it sooo goood! thats alot of disney scenes to go thru and choose the right scenes!
I went to the More Friends concert in LA and people screamed and gave standing ovations after EVERY piece. It was a little excessive. xD But as a regular symphony-goer, I'll admit that as much as I love live music, the concert environment is stuffy and that's why a lot of people don't go. I love it when crowds get into the music, though not to "raving fanboy" extent - just, if concert halls could work popular music into their venues more often, I'm sure they'd draw more people.
@TalesofaGamer Indeed. I was dissapointed that they did not use game footage, but that scene with Simba crying tore me to ribbons... And then i heard To Zanarkand, Aerith's theme, and the victory medly! Awesome!
@Mexirican017 but that's the beauty, the score captures YEARS of disney magic in under three minutes, it's phenomenal, we don't only feel for our childhoods because we spent hours with KH but also for all those movies we saw as a kid
What you should know, is that at the beggining of the show Victor said that the orchestra was different then normal ones, as in they adore and feed off the publics energy. They simply love it when the public applause or react during the songs. I agree that for a classical orchestra it would be impolite, but for Video Games Live its what they want and like. Ps. I know cause i was theyre at Mtl. on the 7th.
Guys, Tommy Tallarico ENCOURAGES cheering and clapping at the moments you love. This is Video Games Live for crying out loud! If you're having the major nerdgasm of hearing your favorite video game music being played so beautifully, I think you'd be cheering too. I sure was when I saw VGL.
Agreed. No one would ever go crazy like this at a real symphony concert. Even at the PLAY! and More Friends concerts I attended, the audience was generally polite and LISTENED to the music rather than went crazy and bothered everyone.
Hah! When he started playing To Zanarkand, everyone screamed louder than the other songs in the mdley. i gotta agree to Zanarkand was my favorite theme and FF X was my favorite FF
@occygkill In fact, since the very beginning of the show Tommy insisted us to make the most noise we could 'cause it was "other type" of concert, not the typical one
icreid on the aerith song.even when i first started playing ff7 waaaaaay back in the days,as i saw aerith die,my jaw dropped and i got teary eyed when i heard the song.
@StewNWT Its really great. seriously u should go. i went and had a blast. plus the costume contest and other stuff before the show are fun too. i would love to go again
@occygkill They even say at the beginning of the show that they want you to be loud if you hear or see something you like. That's what different about Video Games Live compared to going to any other orchestra. the energy is like nothing else. They want you to get rowdy and get excited.
wonder why they only play one song from FF now. do they have a copyright issue with square? they dont even show the visuals of kingdom hearts and FF7 when they play their music
@dakotab291 I forget the exact reasoning behind the issue, but from what I understand, Square-Enix allows VGL to use music from their games, but not video. As far as I know, getting permission to use clips from the games is something they have been trying to do for a while.
@SammySam5 Yuo he does, before the show starts he says: when ppl hear the word orchesta all thinks must be quiet, but this is not the wat we do the thing in VGL, you can cheer, clap, yell, whatever you want at any moment, so enjoy the show"
@10magical04dreamer19 unless you go to VGL you really can't understand. The crowed always gets really behind the music and the symphony always feeds off the energy. Normally I would agree with you but it really doesn't ruin it in this case.
Utada Hikaru, shes pretty hot aint she :P, well i was hoping to see a kingdom hearts clip you know, a secret slide we havent seen before, atleast a trailer for the new game on the ds KH 386/2 or something, either way it was cool
@KeikoxKat Square tends to be a *bad word* when it comes to giving permission to use their stuff... for example, a song from Super Mario RPG is in the unused coding on the disc for Super Smash Bros Brawl... and SMRPG was made by Squaresoft, which eventually turned into Square Enix.
Sometimes I can't help but hate Square Enix for not letting the game scenes being used. I went to VGL '07 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and it annoyed the hell out of me that Final Fantasy songs went without scenes on the screen. ¬_¬ Damn Square!
thats weird, why would it be copyright issues, dont they know about videogames live, did square not give them the right to show kh and ff, thats stupid
Man, this just inspires me to try and create my own music. This is wonderful, we all know this is one of the BEST GAMES EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This makes me miss childhood so darn much.
When they started to play i got a bit teary eyed, Kingdom heart was one of those games you play without the blood and gore. And still love it!!!!
I love this song.
I always cry when i hear this.

you could hear the audience go "aww" at the sad scenes lol, Heck i don't blame em, great footage matched with a wonderful and uplifting music piece :)
Qué máquina el chino! Qué máquina! Me quito el sombrero por tocar de esa manera una canción que siempre he soñado con saber tocar y que nunca voy a poder...
All Eyes On Me - such an amazing song.
even tho they didnt show scenes from kingdom hearts i was still feeling the music. and the video portrayed it sooo goood! thats alot of disney scenes to go thru and choose the right scenes!
Really great video! Wonderful sound and picture quality!
I cant believe i freaking missed the show! I live like 20 mins from MTL and i had no idea there were playing there! GRRRRR!!
I went to the More Friends concert in LA and people screamed and gave standing ovations after EVERY piece. It was a little excessive. xD
But as a regular symphony-goer, I'll admit that as much as I love live music, the concert environment is stuffy and that's why a lot of people don't go. OMg the show was awesome!! I loved the Kingdom Hearts part and the Metal gear!
@TalesofaGamer
Indeed. I was dissapointed that they did not use game footage, but that scene with Simba crying tore me to ribbons... And then i heard To Zanarkand, Aerith's theme, and the victory medly! Awesome!
This was beautiful...i think im gonna go home and dig out the game
@Mexirican017 but that's the beauty, the score captures YEARS of disney magic in under three minutes, it's phenomenal, we don't only feel for our childhoods because we spent hours with KH but also for all those movies we saw as a kid
The song is so amazing, i agree with ya, it defines what the game really is, magic. I tell ya, a music really does give a game or film, the soul
What you should know, is that at the beggining of the show Victor said that the orchestra was different then normal ones, as in they adore and feed off the publics energy. ohhhh kh.... is amazing!!!!! I wanna hear this song like this!!!!!!! ohhhhhhhhh incredibleeeee

wow greatest of all time pieces.
Agreed. No one would ever go crazy like this at a real symphony concert. Even at the PLAY! and More Friends concerts I attended, the audience was generally polite and LISTENED to the music rather than went crazy and bothered everyone.
i was there baby! man that was a great show
Hah! When he started playing To Zanarkand, everyone screamed louder than the other songs in the mdley. i gotta agree to Zanarkand was my favorite theme and FF X was my favorite FF
I played this last year in middle school. It was super freaking hard on baritone. But we pulled it off. :)
damn, i was there! I cant wait for the next tour!
The crowd always cheers before the actual ending. lol
Kingdom Hearts is one of the best game series ever!!!!!
ITS AMAZING THE SHOW WAS AMAZING
There's no way I'm getting my homework done watching this.
1) 0:20 Kingdom Hearts - Hikari 2) 5:24 Final Fantasy - Victory Fanfare 3) 5:30 Final Fantasy - Prelude 4) 5:53 FFX - To Zanarkand 5) 6:41 FFVII - Aerith's Theme 6) 7:06 FFVIII - Eyes on me 7) 7:48 FFVIII - Fragments of Memories 8) 8:10 FFVI - Terra's Theme 9) 8:37 FFIX - Melodies of Life.

omg i never knew this even existed ... im getting tickets for them...PLEASE HIT CHICAGO!!!!1
@occygkill In fact, since the very beginning of the show Tommy insisted us to make the most noise we could 'cause it was "other type" of concert, not the typical one
"somebody should fix in the hole in the roof though", no your just to awesome
icreid on the aerith song.even when i first started playing ff7 waaaaaay back in the days,as i saw aerith die,my jaw dropped and i got teary eyed when i heard the song.
To Zanarkand must be one of the most beautiful piano pieces I know.
when he played Terra's Theme i almost shit a brick. that was beautiful.
I teared.
i bet i would've been cheering louder than everybody else there lol
god, this is sooooo good!
2:31 onwards makes me so happy and sad at the same time.
Beautiful!
@StewNWT Its really great. seriously u should go. i went and had a blast. plus the costume contest and other stuff before the show are fun too. i would love to go again
nah, that's deliberate to lead nicely into Aeris's theme
@occygkill They even say at the beginning of the show that they want you to be loud if you hear or see something you like. That's what different about Video Games Live compared to going to any other orchestra. the energy is like nothing else. They want you to get rowdy and get excited.
@10magical04dreamer19
They actually encourage the cheering. Thats kind of what makes the show so great to go to.
.... they did the kingdom hearts song justice.
OH GOD I CAN'T STOP CRYING T.T
I might have cried a bit at the FF bits ;_;
Mom: Are you crying son?
Me: What? NO! of course not!... *sniff*sniff*
i want my orchestra to play this!!!!!!!!! where iz sheet music??!!!!! i hope there is some!!!!!
J'ai beaucoup aimé ce segment!
Guys, if you were there, you would be screaming with them! -.- jeez They are just Excited.
i was so pissed they didnt play metal gear solid nor kingdom hearts at the chicago november 06th show :(
@pduperron The guy who won the contest for M. Net was pretty hilarious.
If you remember what happened lol.
I just love that, they're really good. And ya'know Kingdom Hearts is the... MOST AMAZING GAME IN THE EARTH! *---*'
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Kindom Hearts FTW!
he is pretty fucking fantastic
@occygkill Ya but this isnt your average orchestra, they actually encourage you to clap and cheer during the performance
wonder why they only play one song from FF now. do they have a copyright issue with square? they dont even show the visuals of kingdom hearts and FF7 when they play their music
@desolatedmemories - FFX To Zanarkand Intro
One of the BEST Piano songs of all time in my opinion!
@dakotab291
I forget the exact reasoning behind the issue, but from what I understand, Square-Enix allows VGL to use music from their games, but not video. As far as I know, getting permission to use clips from the games is something they have been trying to do for a while.
.... i dream with yoko shimomura playin this in a VGL.... ah sweet dreams...
They didn't play this in Toronto! If they had I wouldve pooped my pants ;(
@SammySam5 Yuo he does, before the show starts he says: when ppl hear the word orchesta all thinks must be quiet, but this is not the wat we do the thing in VGL, you can cheer, clap, yell, whatever you want at any moment, so enjoy the show"
@superkidsco at Video Games Live, they encourage the audience to communicate with them at any time.
can't wait for kingdom hearts: birth by sleep
they ASKED them to cheer in the beginning.
gave me chills...but the ppl pissed me off
@10magical04dreamer19 unless you go to VGL you really can't understand. The crowed always gets really behind the music and the symphony always feeds off the energy. Normally I would agree with you but it really doesn't ruin it in this case.
Does anyone know all the songs in the Final Fantasy Medley?
that ff10 piece sound way better live.
Utada Hikaru, shes pretty hot aint she :P, well i was hoping to see a kingdom hearts clip you know, a secret slide we havent seen before, atleast a trailer for the new game on the ds KH 386/2 or something, either way it was cool
Did they use this for the opening of dream drop distance? it sound just about the same
if you played FFVIII then it was in some parts of Laguna's Dream....or Squall's Dream or whatever....Whenever you were Laguna
Not enough Kingdom Hearts footage =\
@occygkill no offense, but at the beggining of the show they tell you to cheer whenever you want, its not like a normal orchestra
Aaaw, as if the video ends just at Melodies of Life XD!
Still, awesome, would have enjoyed it more without the cheering though, I got my ears blasted.
I wish they used the footage from the actual video game, oh well.
How come there were no actual Kingdom Hearts characters in there? And Mickey was only there once. Lawl. xP
@torich21 I got ur back...all of us over 100 million around the world think so too! ;)
hmmm the dude from judgement day. new to me.
dam i wish i could have went
this is dream drop distance i can tell yet its from 08? dream drop distance was from 2011
it's not. that was already in Kindom Hearts 2 XD
Sometimes I can't help but hate Square Enix for not letting the game scenes being used. I went to VGL '07 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and it annoyed the hell out of me that Final Fantasy songs went without scenes on the screen. ¬_¬
Damn Square!
Hey, who put those onions there?!?!
i wish they would do sanctuary...
I wish they actually showed some KH Original characters and played something that Yoko Shimomura wrote. Oh well...
The dood constantly screaming "WOOO" annoyed the hell outta me. Other than that, amazing, I wish I could go to one of these shows"
OMG now play a KH medley >:D!
wish they put love theme from FFIV or main theme
youd think they show a little footage of the game.....
@LotusBlaze
haha....yeahhhh you're right. I think I may go on exchange to G.Britain anyway :P
thats weird, why would it be copyright issues, dont they know about videogames live, did square not give them the right to show kh and ff, thats stupid
