If you are taking the ISEE you should study the math section because there is some right triangle trigonometry and less time per question but if you are taking the SSAT what Gloria said was right. You should definitely study for the vocab on the SSAT but you don't really need to for the ISEE as long as you recognize some highschool vocab lists.
The SSAT math is pretty basic as I took the practice test and got 96% first try and I could have got a 100. The ISEE math is way more challenging but the vocab is still challenging. Comprehension is also a decent amount hard.
Hello Gloria! Love to watch your videos. Just a quick question...did you use any consultant for your whole application process? If you did, is it helpful? If you didn't, why? Thank you so much!
hi Gloria! I just binge-watched all your videos, and you're the sweetest person ever!! I'm from the Philippines and I'm not familiar with the application process for international students, and just how the US does applications in general. Where do I start? thank you so much, and ilyyyy!!
Hi Nicole!! Thank you so much!! Initially, I'd suggest going on College Confidential to just get a gist of what the application process looks like. Once you get a hang of it, I suggest preparing for the SSAT during the summer-- that way, you can take it in october/September/the earliest times to get it over and done with. Personally, I was not happy with my score until January, and it was a lot of work having everything due early February. Feel free to get in contact with some current students as they can also offer advice!
Did you go to a public middle school or a private middle school? In your experience do most students in boarding school tend to come more from one or the other?
Hey Gloria, I'm a Brazillian student applying for top-tier boarding schools this year. The insights that you share are really helpful for people like me, but I have one question for you: When it comes to the Verbal SSAT section, should I study the words that have already been on the test before? Or is it better to just learn vocabulary in a normal way? Thanks a lot in advance ;)
Hey! I'm someone who already took the SSAT score and is currently in the middle of turning in high school applications to top-tier boarding schools but I've already received my SSAT score (an overall 99%, 785 for reading, 794 for verbal, and 765 for math.) I really struggled with the Verbal section during studying, and if you take a lot of practice tests and notice some of the same words popping up, definitely circle and drill those into your brain! You should also try some practice SSAT books who have vocab practice, or you can use online lists for SSAT vocabulary. As long as you study a little every day, or at least frequently, you should be totally fine! It's not as hard as some of the practice tests might seem, but definitely study up just in case.
hi! I saw you're in an andover trio. i was wondering what the process for that is- is it assigned or do you pick your own... trio mates? idk what to call them lol
ik you probably won’t replying I’m applying for next year so 2023, 2024 as an international student coming from a British curriculum school so I was just wondering if you have any advice about the tests and the change from curriculum
Hi! I’m not sure if you know of Dulwich, but I went there for primary school (as a lot of people here did), so I wouldn’t worry. You’ll be able to adapt to the differences! So sorry, I can’t tell you much as I didn’t spend that much time in the British curriculum-i would suggest reaching out to people at PA who also came from British curriculum schools
hi! im applying as a sophmore to Loomis, Choate, Suffield, LAwrenceville and Taft. I think my essays are really strong and i have a 4.0 gpa. I also have lots of community service hours and i play varsity softball since i was in 8th grade (I was pulled up). My interviews also went well but I only scored a 2103 on my ssat. I didnt submit to schools i didnt have to, (Choate, Loomis and Suffield) What do you think my chances are for each? How much will my ssat score affect my chances? Thank you.
Hello I’m from Mexico and I was thinking of applying to boarding school in the us I was thinking of Andover or Exeter but I’m applying for 11 grade any advice? Thanks your videos are very helpful
Hello, thank you! I'd say that the same advice applies to any grade, however keep in mind that the higher you go, 1) the same ssat score gives you a lower percentile; 2) there are fewer spots (and also fewer applicants!)
Hear me out: ANDOVER IS NOT THE ONLY WAY OUT!!!!!!! It is NOT the only path that can lead you to success. You have so many other things to look forward to in life- DON’T let an admission get to you, consider it a redirection. I wish you the best of luck!!
Thank you so much! Good luck to everyone applying for the 2022 - 2023 school year!

Hi! Yes. So at the beginning of the term, you audition for a trio. Then, the teachers will place you in a trio with other people about your level :)
