I was in an American Marching band, 20 years ago, and what impresses me is that we spent a lot of time learning to walk as smooth as possible, so that our top half of our bodies never moved, so that we stayed in constant lineup with our mouthpiece. These kids instead just force the mouth piece to the mouth, and hold it there, no matter what. That is something I would have thought impossible to do if I did not see it. I can't imagine the hours that went into learning how to do this.
There are some videos on RUclips showing some of their practice clips. Pretty much they train like athletes where they hum whole songs while posed the whole time like they're raising an imaginary instrument to their mouth with one leg raised mid high-step.

I will not say which section and certainly not which player, so I challenge you to find it. It was so brief it can be forgiven, but the standards of Tachibana players are so high it proves that they were taught very well even from infancy. If I could live my life again, I would be honoured and privileged to be brought up as one of them.
Avea Illium if you have not visited Japan, then don’t say negative things about a culture, visits Tokyo and you will truly be surprised on how respectful a society is to each other. Everyone should visit Japan and emulate the way they treat each other, and then you will see why these young students beam with pride and do everything perfect...this is their culture, they always bow out of respect for other people... so please stop being ignorant and visit Japan, you may never want to go home, really...such a great place to live. @@Westsideauditor1469 that is just the style of performance that hbcus do. Jackson state literally has some of the loudest mellos and tubas i have ever heard cranking. Drum corps in comparison destroy both in cleanliness and choreography. tachibana seems to do more parade routines and HBCUs do more stand tunes and try to crank out as much volume as possible. I have listened to other Japanese and American high school bands and I enjoy KTHS the most for several reasons. I think the first is their music selections. They are all memorable and fun to listen to. Add the orange and even their blue uniforms, the choreography, their musicianship and their genuine enthusiasm, hard not to love them. Wish I could find an American high school band with the same qualities. I am sure there are some RUclips just hasn’t revealed them to me. But KTHS will always be number one for me.

Busy week for the band, today is (or was) also traditional 第35回大江山酒呑童子祭り but with orange uniform! The oni must be so shocked!
I spent eight years teaching music in the US. Every principal and school board think that they want the big, shiny marching band. Were I to consider returning to music teaching (no), I would play one of the Kyoto Tachibana SHS Band videos in my interview. Undoubtedly, the people in charge would say, "YES"! Okay, we'll need to rehearse two hours each day M-F and four hours on Saturday and Sunday. And I'll need a $500,000 budget. "No." Then don't tell me that you want the big shiny marching band. This band brings me to tears. They don't march down the street, they dance. Different moves every eight bars, shifting tempos, including waltzing. While playing in tune. Memorized. Anyone whose jaw isn't firmly on the floor has no clue how much work this is, and how impressive is the presentation.
I will comment on Kyoto Tachibana High School brass band club Japanese high school is a three-year system. Students are 16 to 18 years old.The academic year begins in April and ends in March. We have summer vacation, winter vacation, and spring vacation. Since it is a private school, classes are held six days a week (only in the morning on Saturdays and closed on Sundays), but the brass band has activities seven days a week. On weekdays, from 7:00 to 8:30 in the morning, we have “morning practice”, during lunch break we have “self-training”, and after school from around 16:00 to 19:00, we do club activities. Classes end in the morning on Saturdays, so after the lunch break, I practice until 7pm. We practice on Sundays from 9:00 to 19:00. Throughout the year, club activities only have three official days off in the summer. There are club activities during spring vacation, summer vacation, and winter vacation. However, club activities seem to be closed during the exam period, which is the student's main job. *I'm an outsider, so it's speculation, but I'm active about 330 days a year. The band is almost 100% student-led. Committees made up from band members select the music for their setlists and design the corresponding dance choreography. They do have teachers advising them, as well as part-time coaches who assist them in various fields, but most of the time the band members work just by themselves, senpai (older students) teaching kōhai (younger students). Qualifying for the Marching Contest is in September, so it will be a very tough practice in Kyoto's hot and humid summer. Sometimes the DM encourages: "When I want to quit the club, when I want to cry, when it's hard, when I laugh, when I'm having fun, I'm busy with so many things in a day, but I think the only time I can do these activities is during my three years in high school. You all came to the Kyoto Tachibana High School Brass Band because you wanted to spend time like this, right? When I watch their videos, I think of the sweat and tears they shed behind their wonderful performance, and the ninjas chop onions beside me. This is a notice from an outsider fan. I'm glad if you can use it as a reference.
After checking, I noticed that the school system has changed on April 1, 2022. Classes are held only on weekdays, and Saturdays and Sundays are closed. Classes on Saturday were assigned to weekdays. Club activities on weekends are the same as on Sundays, and Saturdays are assumed to be leisurely activities from 9:00 to 19:00.

Yours admirable girls and boys from Kyoto Tachibana shs. You have given me so many wonderful hours since March 2021 that I can no longer count them. One evening in March 2021, I was sitting in front of my PC and watching music videos. I think I was watching music from some European marching band when youtube suddenly suggested a video of Kyoto Tachibana shs. And it was exactly this video from 2016, in which you played in the parade in Yamashina in blue costumes. From the first second I was electrified and fascinated. This was the first time I saw such precise and beautifully played music, with the synchronized movements. At first I thought it was a well-done computer animation. No. It was and is Kyoto Tachibana shs. Since then I have been listening to KT every day for at least three hours every day. I need this. It's like an addiction, like a drug. because it's so beautiful. And I can watch a lot of videos over and over again and it makes me happy to see you and hear you play. Everything I could find about KT on the internet I read and read and hear every day. And the story of how KT came about, how the training is carried out, who the teachers and trainers were and are - it's all so interesting. Every note, every movement learned and rehearsed, from head to toe - everything fits. There is nothing like it in Europe. If I were younger I would move to Kyoto and learn the Japanese language and find a job just so I could see Kyoto Tachibana live every year. But there is the Internet and that is good, also for Europeans who would like to and are able to hear excellent music from young people from Japan. I would like to give a tip to people who want to experience the music and the parades and events and marches of von KT very intensively, because that's how I do it: Sit very close to your smart TV with stereo headphones. Over-ear headphones are ideal. The headphones should be wired, because with bluetooth there are always minimal delays and differences between music and movement. For example, my TV is 55 inches and I'm about five feet in front of the TV. Then search for the KT videos that you would like to see on youtube. The stereo headphones give you the impression that you are there as a spectator at the event and hear the instruments as the audience heard them at the live event. And due to the proximity to a large TV, you can also see the music students in the back rows, e.g. at the Pasadena Bandfest in the stadium. The synchronicity of the movements of hundreds of students is a great experience in front of a big screen TV. When the individual musical instrument players march past on a march through the street, you hear exactly these instruments as they pass them as if you were there live. It's great fun. Try it. And a big thank you also goes to the many videographers who keep filming these wonderful events and uploading them to the Internet. Thank you, it's a lot of work too. I wish Kyoto Tachibana shs, all students and all teachers the very best for all time. You are role models for the youth and all schools in the world. You can be proud of yourselfes. Greetings from Bavaria in Germany Peter
Kyoto Tachibana will be suggested in every video of any marching band because they are simply one of the best and most watched on youtube. They are great !!

I will not say which section and certainly not which player, so I challenge you to find it. It was so brief it can be forgiven, but the standards of Tachibana players are so high it proves that they were taught very well even from infancy. If I could live my life again, I would be honoured and privileged to be brought up as one of them.
i suspect the training... There is NO WAY a standard training could replicate this
:)
You just had to make something cool into a weird gender thing
@@tronkles3633 Can you explain just what you mean please? As far as I was concerned all I said was courteous.
playing the xylophone... while marching and dancing.
damn... i already have a hard time, hitting the right tone plates standing still
That is the exact same thought I had lol, High Skill indeed :-D
And they keep smiling!
I can relate even I’m a lyrist, I can’t still hit the correct plate even running because we were performing on a stadium
incredible work...real skill and having fun

I think what I like the most is their genuine smiles.... they don't look faked,.... they look like they are on top of the world. A job well done!
And I fing the dancing and the musik too😁
Are they though. Some of them are probs forced into it, but I dont know.
That's what we call a good faking. Japan is one of those countries.
They sound so damn well!
Great foods, great people.
Poetry in motion. It's just as pleasing to the eyes as the ears.
With the quality of the playing, the marching, and the choreography, this band seems to deserve the title Greatest H.S. Marching Band.
These videos are so addictive I've been watching these videos so much I've got their music stuck in in my head
そうです。私の様な爺さんでも、この子達の魅力から抜け出せません。(^^♪
Actually many of their musical pieces are performed better than the originals. " The Incredible Theme " for one.
🤣🤣🤣... toda la razón...
Me too,I can't get enough of these videos 🙏
NOTICE THE ATTENTION THAT HAS BEEN DEVOTED TO THE ACTUAL MUSIC .. GREAT PLAYING SKILLS ...
Absolutely John I wonder how many know how difficult it is the jump around like that while playing an instrument let along remember the dance routines.
They Look amazing, Sound Amazing, and the Choreography was amazing too ! Probably THE Best marching band I Ever saw A BIG well done ! keep up the good work !
music is great... choreography is basic, i know high school bands that do way more advanced choreography. They can play well with level changes though
Watch Tachibana Kyoto (Don't know if it's correct) it's great too.
@@omjiendo578 this video Is Kyoto Tachibana :)
Tachibana is quite good in the sense they can do that with concert horns and makes sense as those sound better than marching equivalents. Probably one of the best parade bands out there but i wouldn't say the best marching ensemble out there. Though "best" is relative
Highly recommend checking out these, just some drum corp moments.

Not only do they play brilliantly but their choreography is superb. You must have great teachers. Kids you are Fab. "Frae Auld Scotia. I salute you."
they do all this on their own they spend a 1,000 hours a year on their routines and that is why are so good'
also the seniors do all the choreo i think
@@Ash.Music.Covers Actually a group 5 of band members representing different parts of the band work out the steps and then teach the other band members.

In all my 72 years, I have NEVER seen a marching band of young people as good as these kids! The combination of dance steps, the music executed flawlessly plus the cheerful smiles of everyone. I have never seen a band of young people equal to these Japanese students!
You can check "Toho band" or "Komatsu kogyo" or "Waseda setsuryo"...there're some bands of japanese student like them in Japan. But.. Tachibana is my favorite band for me.
Enjoy their music !!
Right there with you Jack! They are a pleasure to watch. I can only imagine how many hours they practice.

I was very much amazing to this young talented ladies so beautiful orchestrated thier musical instruments i love watching them thank you so much.
You will not find anywhere more disciplined and talented school students with smiley faces. It takes a lot of hard work to train and practice this. Even little kids standing by in streets are so sober and well behaved. Something very special about Japanese culture.

I am amazed with marching and dancing while playing instruments at the same time the quality of music they produced.
É maravilhoso ver essa banda se apresentar. Parabéns a todos
That's one of the best marching bands I've seen in a very long time and I'm 75 great going .
I’ve basically spent this weekend watching the band’s performances. They make me happy, which is rare.
I hope the world can see and hear the Kyoto Tachibana SHS band at the 2020 Olympics opening and closing ceremonies. Japan can be very proud of their awesome high school band.
Just noticed that most are young ladies. That wasn’t the case when I played trombone in high school!! I don’t think I had the cardio ability these girls have though let alone the talent and dedication. Hats off to all !!👘💋
I've read that most young men in Japan prefer go into sports in high school as opposed to band.
el tee wtf. But band IS a sport!
It’s because Japan finds band more of a girl thing then rather what a guy would like to do
Band is like for a girl thing there and soccer, football, baseball, basketball, etc. etc. is more of a “manly” thing for them
@@kailaine3974 I'm not going to argue what's a sport or not. Chess, video games, and the like can fall into that category. However, band is clearly different than your "normal sports" such as swimming, soccer, baseball, etc.
Yuichiro™ Nightcore yes that’s true. That was a bit of a joke we have in my marching band, and you do have to admit it’s actually quite physically strenuous.
These students are amazing & represent their school & Japan positively . Japanese precision & dedication always amazes me.
The most craziest part, is how they are literally waving their instruments around, and yet STILL with the entire band! I can’t even stay with my band even sitting down!!!
If you have not seen them perform in a large space, you can't judge just how good they are. The foot work is perfection.
I’ve heard this band before and once again outstanding talent, I’m from the US and they make my band hide behind them. They can put anyone to shame.

This is proof and thank you RUclips for revealing yet another amazing human feat, mostly high school female STUDENTS, that have proven through sheer commitment, creativity, fun and pride of ethnicity, the Kyoto Tachibani Student HS Band should be invited and traveling around the world spreading the sheer joy and amazement of what these young students have accomplished... I can’t stop watching their videos, because they just make me smile...I’m gonna have to pick up on the Tachibani shuffle...their coordinated foot work and playing the instruments are amazing ...I would love to support them, who’s selling the school t-shirts, everyone watching their videos should buy one and spread their joy... this is their way of getting funds to travel and spreading this amazing band spirit...
My favorite world class group band SHS TACHIBANA, I really enjoyed watching them when they performed, I love SHS TACHIBANA!
...the cute girls don't hurt, either....😉
I want to study there but my parents don't allow it and I have to problem speaking Japanese too
this is the best marching band ever...the song choices and the march routines are both superb.

Very nice. Precision marching and sound. GO Kyoto Tachibana BAND!
@4:37 their rendition of "The Locomotion" is truly amazing; that trombone w/moving.
I've seen several of their other clips on YT; I miss they're not in their usual orange.
These kids are AMAZING!!
Please come back to America!!............ We love you!!
3:45 that bari sax is almost as big as she is! And she's playing it while dancing around! Ok I'm impressed!
As always, a great video.......stayed with the band, great close up shots as well of the entire group. Thank you again. This is one of the best, glad they got to march first in this celebration.....great sound from low brass up to the high woodwinds.....My favorite as always....funny a parade up and back....but its all good, It's Tachibana !!!!!
The only way to make this better is to install camera cranes en route... 慶次郎前田-san camerawork is first class.
What I liked most in this video was to see the band among sea of people. They provide first-class entertainment and it is always heart-warming to watch them get the appreciation they deserve.
Busy week for the band, today is (or was) also traditional 第35回大江山酒呑童子祭り but with orange uniform! The oni must be so shocked!
Wow!!Thank you for the words of the best compliments!!!
"No."
Then don't tell me that you want the big shiny marching band.
This band brings me to tears. They don't march down the street, they dance. Different moves every eight bars, shifting tempos, including waltzing. While playing in tune. Memorized. Anyone whose jaw isn't firmly on the floor has no clue how much work this is, and how impressive is the presentation.
I will comment on Kyoto Tachibana High School brass band club
Japanese high school is a three-year system.
@@bingo4752 That was a lot of WONDERFUL information! The kids spend more hours than even I thought. It shows! Thank you!

It’s possible they are the actual best. If only there were an olympics event for this to confirm.
I mean marching band is not popular in many countries mainly US
Idk how popular it is in Japan but this band is really good almost no mistakes
I think they play really well because they don’t blast and are very balanced
Being able to play the xylophone while swaying side to side is talent
Play their videos and see they dancing will make you feel happier and willing to give more to the society. That's how I start my working days.
Outstanding. From Daytona Beach Florida, USA
Everybody is great but i always love that girl short hair that is playing the Xylophone. She has such a nice smile 😉
The DM who was leading the band in rose parade 2018 is playing her instrument and dancing !!! Awesome!!!
Many hours of work must have been put in to achieve this wonderful, enjoyable spectacle . They all did their country proud.

I would like to give a tip to people who want to experience the music and the parades and events and marches of von KT very intensively, because that's how I do it:
Sit very close to your smart TV with stereo headphones.
Greetings from Bavaria in Germany
Peter
