To make your nail polish last longer, wrap the tip with the nail polish and the top coat. It helps seal it in so it doesn't start chipping as easily. My go to top coat is Holo Taco Super Glossy Taco. Dries so quickly and lasts.
Talking to the stray cat is a good idea so he'll know you and get used to you.
For your wifi network you probably could have just changed the new router's SSID and password to the same as the old one to avoid adding it to all the devices.
