  • Here is James Pond Codename: Robocod on PS2.
This is a remake of the classic amiga platformer, James Pond II: Codename Robocod (Yes I know it got ported to 50 billion 16-bit consoles). This version has a complete different set of levels to the 16-bit versions. This remake is also available on GBA, DS, PS1, and PSN. Here I am playing the PS2 version in pcsx2 emulator.
In these remake versions to unlock the bonus level you must collect all 3 bells in each level. However I don't think they really add any progress to the game other than a bigger score that i'm aware of, and I won't be focusing on these in every level otherwise the videos will be too long.
Overall pretty fun game. However I do prefer the original 16-bit versions levels. The levels here whilst not bad, are more liniear as there isn't those cool secret and hidden areas inside each level. Though they are still pretty fun I just wish they didn't remove those from the game, they were one of the things that made the original great in my opinion. But other than this it's still a decent platformer which will last a few hours or so. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of platformers. Though I can't say I'd recommend it over the 16-bit versions.
Oh one thing i forgot to mention is the remake versions all have saves. This is one great advantage I think, it was something the 16-bit versions needed badly.
