Louise Varming Rothe-Vocalist, specialising in jazz

Louise has been very closely engaged with the historic Strait Street jazz scene active in Valletta in the 1950s-1960s. She has arranged classic numbers originating from a number of Maltese jazz greats, such as Lee Spiteri and Jose Curmi Puse'.
Steve Buttigieg-classical pianist
tutor: Mro Michael Laus
Steve is very active in Gozo's musical scene. His performance, with works by J.S. Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Fréderic Chopin, and Claude Debussy, showcased his range as a pianist.
Mariette Borg-classical soprano
Tutor: Claire Massa
Accompanist: Elaine Mercieca, piano
Mariette's performance programme was titled 'Beneath Night's Veil', bringing together works with heightened drama and often nocturnal themes. Ranging from the agitation of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro to the pathos of Puccini's La Bohéme and the drama of songs by Richard Strauss and Clara Schumann, Mariette's performance concluded with a Maltese song by Alexander Vella Gregory, 'Innu ta' Filghaxija'.

Michela's performance combined works from the classical to the (moderately) modern: Gaetano Donizetti's Clarinet Concertino, Robert Schumann's Fantasiestücke, op. 73, Darius Mihaud's Duo Concertante, op. 351, Charles Villiers Stanford's Three Intermezzi, op. 13, and Leonard Bernstein's Sonata for Clarinet and Piano.
