Can you give me some much needed advice on how to keep my pecans from disappearing over night to unknown pests? I have alot of trees and something got 100% of the nuts just BEFORE they finish splitting enough to knock out of the trees. It's happened again but there was a very bad drought so I know they needed them badly. What can I do? I am thinking of hanging pie tins from the best trees just before I think they will start splitting ? Thank You in advance.

I’ll do my best. Obviously the wildlife is attacking them so you can do the scare tactic such as hanging a few sonic mole chasers from Harbor Freight. They go off at sudden times. I heard there are motion detectors that also make prey bird sounds or turn on a sprinkler.
Secondly, besides putting a net up which would be unrealistic you need to spray the trunk and branches where they are coming with a hot & garlic spray. Just boil garlic powder (fresh is strongest) with various peppers or powders. Remember they cannot handle that. Lastly you need a dogs urine and wrap sticky side out on the trunk in several spots that has been sprayed with this. If this is pulled off as they get stuck then you can assume a mammal such as raccoons, etc. then make climbing the tree a hassle with the duct tape and a sprinkler in motion detector. You are so lucky to have pecan trees, all the ones I went to harvest this year didn’t produce much. Let me know Sabrina

Actually I grow several in containers. Just do not overwater once it gets adjusted. Let me know how it goes Sabrina
