Man, this looks like so much fun! I'll be moving to the big city soon (I'm from Denmark). Today I have been watching your bonsai soil video and this video as inspiration for my new adventure. I will for sure see if there's any Bonsai clubs in Copenhagen! Keep up this amazing work, Nigel. I know how much inspiration and positive energy you are spreading.
for heavey gauge wire you can straighten it perfectly by sticking one end in a cordless drill and the other end in a vice. pull tight and spin the drill a bit. the wire will be almost perfect. i actually learned that at sheet metal school for other reasons but it works perfectly for bonsai applications.
sir will you please make a video about applying moss to the bonsai....specially the one's you used in the ficus over a temple video (mind blowingly awesome tree that one you've got though:) )....please ...thank you :)
Hello Nigel , I've been following your account for a while now, and I'd like to congratulate you for your work and your eagerness to share with us all your knowledge concerning to the Bonsai art. I've started a couple mulberry bonsai trees at home from seed, which were collected from the very mulberry tree of the Frida Khalo's house in Mexico city. I'd really like to do a good job on them, but I've got several questions to which I still haven´t found a proper answer on any other source. Is there any way I could contact you to inquire about these specifics? My mom and I would be so happy to accomplish some beautiful bonsai trees. Finally I'd like to thank you for introducing me to this amazing world. Cheers!
Thank you, I like your nice long name! Nice to hear that you have found a hobby that you really enjoy, I'm so glad I found bonsai too! You can email me at.... thekwbonsaisociety@gmail.com Mulberry trees make great bonsai!
For larger gauge just cut a slightly longer piece of wire than needed and grab it at the end, using it as a lever. His demo branch had no sub branches - can you imagine how awkward using pliers would be when it had a full set of secondary branches in the way?
Dear Mr. Saunders, Greetings! I am a big fan from India. Just wondering, I have never seen any tutorials you have done on wiring. Is it something you personally choose not to do with your trees?
Trees in the ground can thicken up really fast once the roots take hold. The tree will grow around the wire very quickly and could cause severe visual damage. If you keep an eye on the tree and unwire at the correct time, you can train the tree in the ground with no problems. Generally if you are going to wire a tree, a large training pot may be a better solution that the ground. A tree in the ground can grow like crazy and it may be hard to see the wire until it is too late.
man the group of guys you have are awesome all pretty cool have a friendly attitude my bonsai Club everybody's kind of stuck-up it's kind of all about who has the best tree not helping each other out
I thought I was the only one who tried to reuse most of his wiring. What a great idea he gave us!

Thank Dave, I'll pass that on to the club, also very green!
does Mr. Hong also have a channel?sir Nigel both of you are good combination you're great.
Hong and Connor run the club's Facebook page. I don't believe they have a RUclips channel, but I'm hoping they start one too!
I usually remove small wire with flyfishing tools.. works like a charm, i recommend that!
Very informative, I am about to wire my first bonsai and this is very helpful, i love it.
Good luck Maarten and I hope all goes well.

I think Hong was demonstrating wiring that doesn't touch the fine branches, but guides then into position.
Wow...thank you for sharing this video.
I hope you have new updates in your bonsai i really like your works.
+Godwin Desierto More updates will be coming!
The chinese elm forest is gorgeous :D
How old is this forest ? 20-30 ?
+Admslayer Hong answers...."it is about 3 yrs. old but the individual trees are different."

Yes, I don't do much wiring, mostly clip and grow, here is a video on this....

Great video
+Nigel Saunders is it possible or even a good idea to wire a tree and also put it back into the ground at the same time to thicken its trunk?
Trees in the ground can thicken up really fast once the roots take hold. The tree will grow around the wire very quickly and could cause severe visual damage. If you keep an eye on the tree and unwire at the correct time, you can train the tree in the ground with no problems. Why can't u wire the branches...?

Many people are like that, more of a competition about getting the best tree than anything else. I think I'm lucky with our club.
Very much so they all seem to be a really good group of people I'm going to keep looking till I find a club like that myself or just start one
I like your attitude!
Hey Nigel, Do you know or anyone what is the name of the tree the Womans working on 17:30???
Thanks.
Looks like a Chinese Elm.
The tree that the red head girl was working on, was that an American elm?
That is a Dwarf Seiju Elm
