We just bought 4 Christmas Jewel holly bushes to use as a screen they get 10 ft tall 6 to 8 ft wide . We put aluminium black fence in the back of our home we will put them in front of the fence we have a lot of space they get red berries so we really like the green dark leaves as well. I hope we made a wise choice in selecting this shrub we have many birds that will love it. Can't wait to see them grow .
Thanks for video I have limbed up my Nellie Steven holly and the trunks are so cool need to prune again in oct/ nov they line our patio and like how we can see thru trunks.. thanks!
We have 6 Nelly Stevens Hollies in our back yard. I would not think that they could be planted that close to the house! Ours are fast growing and getting huge after being planted 4 years ago. That said, we haven't pruned them. It just seems like one would be having to prune them quite often to keep them small enough to have that close to the house :)
I know what you are going for but I would take the top off so you can see the flag. I have a dogwood at by back patio and have trimmed it so you can see the trunk. Thank you for sharing.
Quick question: you have given me the courage to transform these two Rose of Sharon bushes into tree shapes. How far up would you remove leaves? Any additional limbs you would trim off for better shape? Enjoying your channel. Failing at first topiary on Rosemary, but not surprised. It wasn’t shaped well enough. It’s probably 2 years old and kind of “deformed”. Ha ha. I love that you gardeners recommend other gardeners and are friends, not competitors HortTube, Garden Answer) Oops. Wouldn’t let me post pictures. Enjoy your channel in Burkburnett’s, Texas
I swear at the beginning all Stewart, needed was some horror👻 music(coming towards you)🤭 He should do that during Halloween 🎃😂 As always great pruning content. Looks really good.🤗
I never cut back any plant at random... I make sure I cut at a knob that's looking onto the outside of the plant... Especially when I want to add air & light into the plant vegetation... Maybe, you should consider that...
Vera Wallace - Hey I have a yellow door! Now two of my neighbors have yellow doors. Before that, I had a beautiful red door, but neighbors started painting their doors red.
Hey Linda, we love keeping you company and cheering you on when you’re pruning! It’s very soothing and satisfying for us, too.💕
WOW! So many different shades of green coming together to create a spectacular picture. Well done, again.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. That front yard is everything.
I enjoyed this! I find pruning to be cathartic also. Nice transformation. 👍🐞😊
Sad seeing how beautiful it was before ice storm. I love pruning!!
lol, Linda I love your potted plants. I just added some pebbles to my pots also. I watch all your videos
Linda its beginning to take on an espalier shape which is pretty. I like it.

Hi Linda ,here again ,First ! , love holly although they can be rather prickly to touch 😂.
I thought for sure you would make it a topiary!
You have a beautiful garden 😍

Looks good! I also find it hard to stop pruning.
NELLIE STEVENS HOLLY, fast growing and pleasant to the eye. Good for privacy from your neighbors as well. Thanks for this information. 🙁👍👍. 5-10-21
LOL👵🏻 yes Linda I have had to promise my children I will not climb on ladders anymore!
I thought for sure you were going to turn it into a topiary any second!

You never "top" a tree. Move the flag !
@@karenross3457 You are right but I thought she called it bush.

Evening from the uk
Any news on the Centurion mosquito lamps and if they’re back in stock? I can’t find any info....thanks
Not yet!
I don’t know what type of holy I have but the leaves are very prickly. That hasn’t deterred the deer. They have completely decimated them this year.
Good night 🌙 🙏🙏🙏
Linda I can't see the link for the pruning that you did with your friend to expose the tree trunk like a tree. Can you share the link with me.

That’s a pretty tall and large holly. Nice looking ! How old is it?
Mine already has berries, how do I prune it now 😳
Do you have moles in your garden and if so what do you use to rid them?
I use milky spores to get rid of the grubs. The moles are after the grubs.

Doesn't it stress the plant to prune when it's so hot?
If I were doing drastic pruning maybe. But I’m just tip pruning, this is in the shade, and we just had rain. Plus, These are really tough plants :-)
How does the Holly look today?
Have you ever considered painting your front door a somewhat brighter color?
I think she's into classic stuff. I wish she would paint her front door a nice color that pops against the brown brick and all the greenery.
I agree - I think a really vivid mustard yellow would be 🔥!!
@@thefitzs Really, lol

@@ejohnson3131 I know people paint their doors with bright Vidid colours, but with her I don't see that ,I think that's not her Style
I don’t know why so many people plant these so close to the house
Do you ever get any comments on how many times you say " you guys " in all your videos.🤣
It is so refreshing to watch YOUTube from the UK and not hear"you guys"!
