I love the ocean, few years ago I moved closer to a sea and I very often go for a walk along the beach. It helps me to ground, wash off my anxieties, while i walk barefoot in the water. Just looking out to the vast ocean is so calming and the changing colours are mesmerising. So for me ocean means freedom, grounding, encouraging creativity, connectivity with the nature and all sea creatures... I love the shawl, I am definitely making one. The new colour you are showing today is so beautiful too! Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻💙
Good day! My mother was born on the island of enchantment and like mother like daughter I love the island vibes. Walking along a shore calms the soul in an almost spiritual way. Thank you for sharing and have a lovely weekend!
Thank you so much for this beautiful pattern 🙏 I used to live in Washington state and loved standing by the water and watching the sunset. The sea always made me feel such peace and tranquility no matter what was going on in my life. I'm grateful to be here today and looking forward to making this shawl 🌊🌅
I’ve only been to the ocean once. I will never forget that experience. I got to share it with my husband and grandchildren. This shawl reminds me of the power of those waves. I was amazed, and humbled. Your beautiful yarn shows such strength and beauty all at once. A delicate balance, perfectly captured.
Ooh, those hideaway hues are gorgeous ❤ I love how changeable the sea is, from calm glassy water to crashing waves, always different. Some of my favourite memories through my life are related to the sea, from playing in the sand with my brothers as a child, or sea fishing as a younger woman with friends. Very special memories. Still connected to the sea, walking along the coastline is now my favourite way to get some fresh air and stretch my legs.😊
I LOVE the sea. Standing on the beach as the wind blows all of my troubles away and the constant crashing of the waves calms my heart and soul... truly a mesmerizing experience! ❤🌊 That's why someday I want to live within (a few hours) driving distance to the ocean ☺🌼
I love everything about the sea, both the salty freshness of the ocean and fresh waters of the Great Lakes. The sounds of the waves coming to shore remind me of the tranquility as well as the strength of nature.
I love the peaceful calm feeling I get while walking along the edge of the water, feeling the warm sand & cooling water, along with the smell of salt & sound of the waves coming & going. All this reminds me of all your tutorials!!! Thanks for the wonderful tutorials & calming voice!!!
That yarn is simply gorgeous!!! The sea and the sound of its waves calms me. The way the water is always moving is like life…. It is a continuous flow of beauty.
The sea is very healing to me, when my son was little he was very sick and I lived by the sea. After I would put him to sleep I would listen to the crashing waves and remind myself that God is in charge and that He has the strength stronger than the sea. My son is 28 now and he surprised all the doctors who said he would not live to 5. God is our strength and the sea reminds me of Gods strength.
You always have the perfect intro!! The shawl is beautiful. It is simple but at the same time elegant! Feeling of “CALM” is what I get when I walk on the sand or just at the boardwalk. I am grateful for living a few blocks from the ocean and walking at the end of my busy day gives me that sense of calmness! Thank you for the pattern and your tutorial.
As soon as I saw this pattern, I ran over to EFA and purchased my yarn for this shawl, Best Day Ever. I am so excited. Even though the deep water of the ocean terrifies me, I love to watch the waves lap the sand on the beach. One of my favorite things to do here in Texas is camping on the beach. The sound of the waves at night is the best, most relaxing, drug free sleep remedy I've ever found.
Such a beautiful shawl, you get a totally different effect with the yarns, single colour or multi colour. The sounds of the waves crashing gives me calmness and respect for nature and reminds me how vast our earth is and how bountiful it is.
I always loved watching the waves crashing onto the shore and then retreating, and I love the sound they make. It feels rhythmic and calming, like knitting and crocheting. 🙂
Hi Chandi. Beautiful pattern by Janica Carter. The sea has always had such special meaning for me. My husband would take me down to Cape Cod or Maine or Florida all the time. We’d go for anniversaries and getaways and with our family. He would take me around to all the specialty shops especially the local yarn shops and then we would always go to the sea. I love the National Seashore. It’s breathtaking and majestic. I find my peace there. Sadly he can’t take me ever again, but I will get there. Thank you for another beautiful pattern.❤
Chandi, you are a kindred spirit. Beauty and wonder at every step, even in the mundane and decay. As for the sea, it awes me and calms me and scares me and mesmerizes me. We just had Helene pass by our shore and our barrier islands and downtown were devastated by the surge of the sea. We are small by comparison and would do well to respect the natural force that makes up the majority of our planet and affects weather. So much awe.
I’ve been looking for a half circle style crochet shawl this week - perfect timing! The hugeness of the sea gives me perspective. Regardless of what is happening in my life, the waves continue rolling, the sea goes to the horizon and tomorrow it will still be the same. It helps me realise that whatever is happening in my life will pass too if I continue to be steadfast and keep rolling. Thank you for your inspirational creations 🧶
The sea to me is my grounding place, when life is hard its a place to forget. The vastness and what can be out there, the smells and the sounds put me into such a peaceful safe place. It is my peace ❤
I love the sight, sounds and smell of the sea. Hearing the repetitive crashing of the waves gives me inner peace. I once happened to cross the sea between two islands (about 30km) in the Pacific Ocean in a 10 feet fibreglass boat with a 40 PS outboard motor during a cyclone - I was terrified and seasick (definitely not my most intelligent decision), but still the raw power and beauty of the huge waves all around me was majestic and amazing…
I love the sea / ocean: the warm sand giving way under foot, the wind, the seagulls calling overhead, the sound of the waves crashing, the smell of the ocean life, and the memories of the countless beach trips with family that have all gone. Janica did it again. What a stunning piece to complement that gorgeous yarn! 👏👏
💚💙💜Lovely shawl, and the yarn is so beautiful. I live by the sea and it is so calming and healing to just sit and watch the waves and the sounds, smells, and colors of the sky and the water at different times of the year and day/night.
Hi Chandi I have been in love with your videos and reminder text to love our selfs, the people around us and to take time to respect, and take in the world around us Thank You so much it has helped in the resent loss of my father and to remember to slow down and reflect. As for the ocean and all its wonders and beauty, I’m fortunate enough to live on the Oregon coast and have been drawn to the sounds and visual wonders since I was a child. I take drives to just see it and hear it calling to me with the soothing crashes and the ebb and flow of the surf and when fishing it the sway and rock is just so soothing.
I love the ocean...everything about it. When I stand at the edge of the water I think about how small I am in comparison and how it supports so much life. The colors of the water, the salty air (seriously, if someone could bottle that scent I'd be all over it!), the breeze, the sound of the waves crashing. The ocean is Mother Nature at her absolute best. 🌊
Rolling waves of change & the whisper splash of possibilities, scents of memories, sliding pools with a nostalgic muse that drapes our soul in relaxation. Liquid, fluid life!
As a teenager I remember staying at a friend's cottage on Lake Erie and sound of the water was calming . I sleep peacefully. The shawl undulates just like the waves Love it!
Your All Good Things Fingering Yarn colors are gorgeous, and present so many possibilities! I was fortunate to experience the Ocean standing with my Husband, on our Honeymoon in 1995, on Fort Walton Beach on the Florida Panhandle in April. The evening skies were soft to deeper pastel shades of cream to pinkish oranges, to blues and purples. The waves were low and steady moving in toward the shore. The temperature was in the low 70’s with a nice breeze in the air. It was like standing in a painting, looking out over the grand vista of the ocean, and feeling like I was part of it! God is so good. ♥️🙏🏻 You, Tim, and your staff are so good, as well! Thank you for all you do!
The ocean is so soothing when a storm is not present. Beautiful handi work from God. You are so special we are blessed to have you teach us and help us gain confidence in our skills
I love watching the movement of water. When I look out over the ocean, I see a symphony of movement. It has become one of my places I recharge when life gets too draining. I am a math nerd and love Pi shawl. I haven’t done a crochet one and am definitely adding this to the queue. I am totally in love with the Grateful Fitter It All colorway. Have a fantabulous day.
The sea is calming and healing, but can be fierce at times. I love all the new colors. I usually make gifts for everyone. This one I’m making for myself for a change. It’s beautiful and I love the color you used.
I retired to Puget Sound from the Mid Atlantic almost 10 years ago and am lucky to live in a neighborhood on the water. I think Puget Sound is one of the most beautiful places in our amazing country. loving that this is inspired by this region.. the Sound is absolutely inspirational!
This shawl is delightful. I've been to Puget Sound and recall feeling mesmorized. Also. during a college study semester I enjoyed a rowboat trip on the Caribbean. Forty years later I still remember the still blue sky and water of God's creation. I'm still in AWE! The new yarn-oooh! Great teaching! Continued blessings!
I love the sound of the waves and the smell of the salt water. When I come home from the beach I smell like salt, sunshine and sunscreen and have the best most relaxed sleep ever!
Hi Chandi The sea gives me the feeling of calmness with it’s majestic vastness especially during the morning or evening sunsets … so appreciate you and your amazing gift of your love of the craft of knitting & crocheting 🤗
Good morning Chandi! What a beautiful shawl. Thank you so much for the pattern today. I might just start mine today 👍💗. The sea is so amazing to be by and you can feel the power as each wave crashes before the shore and then rolls quietly onto the beach. I have video taped this while there so that I can take that power and the feelings it brings me home. It is mesmerizing and soothing. Love it! Have a wonderful day! 🌊💗💗
Such a beautiful shawl! Love how it ripples like the waves of the water. I'm not close to a sea, but live near many lakes as I"m in southwest Ontario. The beach is my go to for restful, calming time at the end of a hectic week. There's nothing better than sitting and watching the waves roll in and hearing them crash against the shore. I love your story of how you get inspired for your colourways! Have a wonderful weekend, Chandi, I'm off to the beach ❤
Beautiful shawl, it is amazing how the different colorways make totally different looking pieces. My feelings about the sea is that I find it rejuvenating, a quick healing from the soothing sounds. I especially love how mysterious the sea can be. Oh my, getting lost in my thoughts. Thanks again!
The Ocean ……I live on the West Coast, and have most of my life. Twice I have moved inland, and twice I ran back home. Her awesome power. Her majesty. I NEED to be near the ocean. I can’t imagine ever living more than an hour and a half from her. As always, think you for all of these gorgeous patterns you give us! Your yarn was the first hand-dyed yarn I bought; and remains my favorite. Thank you so much!
I love the sea it's beautiful and full of life. It's beautiful when it's calm and when it's angry. It restores my soul to watch the waves come in and caress the shore.
Congratulations! Your comment was chosen to win the full set of All Good Things Fingering yarn. Please send us a message using our contact form at www.expressionfiberarts.com/contact-us/ and let us know where you would like us to ship your yarn. Thanks so much, and have a wonderful day!
Again another beautiful shawl! One of my all time favorite things is to sit on the beach and just listen to the sounds. Waves on the beach , the laughter of children playing and the seagulls flying overhead. It's so relaxing for me. ❤
I have loved the sea since I was a little girl. We'd go with my grandparents and spend the week listening to the waves as they would lull you to sleep at night. Spent many summer vacations this way.
Love the fishnet look of this shawl with the beautiful edge finish ❤ and I absolutely love the ocean. The sound of the crashing waves brings me peace and much joy.
So pretty! I love the open lacy look of this shawl. The sea reminds me of all the feelings of falling in love. My hubby and I met in Pensacola, FL, and the trips to the beach we had while we lived there were so fun, exciting, full of love. The wind, the moisture, the saltiness - all bring back so many memories - dates, expecting a baby, and then bringing baby to the beach. 🥰💕
I was introduced to the ocean at the ripe old age of 55 by my daughter as she was living in SF at the time. I was immediately drawn in and sat on the beach for hours just breathing. It is now my internal happy place anytime I need to unwind, regroup or just be calm.
Every summer holiday I ever spent was at the seaside. The memories are as immense as the oceans themselves and involve all the senses. The smell and taste of salty air, the sounds of the waves and gulls, the feeling of sand both wet and dry and the ever changing colours of sky and sea 😊 Food for my soul with every recollection
I grew up in the Santa Barbara area, and now live in the mountains of Arizona. I truly miss the coast and the coast's influence to the weather! The sea is a wonderous beauty to me -- the foggy mysteries, the new wonders as the tides roll in, and the excitement of where the sea may take me on a trip. I have always loved the beauty of the ocean (I even once painted my bedroom a cobalt blue reminding me of my trip on the Mediterranean), and God's paintings of Sunrises and Sunsets on the beach and over the waters are always fabulous!
I love the beautiful different shades of blue of the water of the sea and how it matches the blue sky. I enjoy sitting down and watch the waves come down.
I love the sea, it means memories of fun times on family holidays as a child, walking along the shore hand in hand with my husband as an adult and solace and strength when facing difficult times throughout 🌊🌊
I love relaxing on the beach letting the sound of the waves lull all my cares away. I love this pattern and will be making this shawl as a gift. Your content has allowed me to really enhance my skills. Thank you!
I love the sea, the sound of the waves and the clean smell of the air. The cold Pacific ocean is only an 1-1/2 hours away, so while I cannot see it every day, I go when ever I need to refresh and reset myself. I love the look of this shawl and cannot wait to make it, it is going on my projects to do list.
The ocean reminds me of how small I am in the bigger scheme of things, but makes me feel alive and so thankful to be alive as I listen and watch the waves😊 lovely pattern and the yarn is beautiful!
Wow! What a beautiful shawl design and the inspiration behind it. It's just so poetic! I love the sea! I was born and still live by the Caribbean Sea. Actually, I live at a walking distance from the shore, if I want to do some cardio. 😂. The images you've shown of the sea waters caressing the coast from above are exactly how I feel whenever I go or just drive by. It's this soothing sensation even though I know how powerful the sea 🌊 really is. The sounds, the salty smell that the wind brings, the beauty of it all... the pelicans gliding silently looking for food... the whole experience feels like an embrace from earth. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to see the Caribbean every time I step out and drive to do my errands at any time, day or night. I guess it is the closest thing to live in paradise. 😊
I love the sea. I went to Hawaii 2 times, and each time, it felt like home. A place were I belong. I could live on the beach. My happy place. I miss it so much!
Wow! Thank you for making your videos easy to follow. I am self taught and having someone like you showing me how to make a beautiful shawl has made me really enjoy making them. Thank you for your videos and great tips. ❤❤
I love the salty smell, the rhythmic sound of the waves calmly coming in or crashing against the rocks, the sight of dolphins playing, the feeling of the wet sand disappearing from under my feet as the wave goes back out, the glorious sunsets over the water and so much more!
Ahhh what a gorgeous pattern, yummm. Ahhh the vastness of the sea reminds me about how small I am and how playful I can also be. The waves, the sand, the ebb, the flow...I mean it's all pointing me back to slowness and allowing and play really.
I have never lived by the sea but I love the rhythm of the waves as they come onshore. The colors are beautiful. I find the West Coast to be a bit more grey but the gulf coast is gorgeous. I love the look in this pattern if the multi-color yarn. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us.
I love the sea! Every summer we go to my husband's village for vacation, and me and the kids don't stop getting in and out of the water, swimming, diving, playing for hours and hours!! It's such a calming effect to watch the water reaching the shore in smaller or bigger waves, hearing the soft or loud sound of them and just dreaming of what you can do!
gorgeous yarns and pattern! tysm! my earliest memory of the sea is waiting on the sea shore eagerly for the waves to come wet my feet! once i got used to the waves i’d inch forward until the water was at my knees! and of course, collecting sea shells! seas and oceans calm me down, watching their waves, listening to their sound and wondering where they’ve been - if only they could speak!
Your inspiration for yarn colors is the same as my photography. When asked for guidance, my #1 piece of advice is to slow down, look around, and find the beauty that others miss.
You filled my heart with beauty today! Thank you for bringing beauty to the world. I was born in Seattle, grew up in the woods, and visited the mountains and all the different types of wa ter ways Washington has to offer. I love the ocean, as all life started in the salty waters (even the Minions)(heheheee), I feel at home on the Pacific shore as I envision the sun warms the water and it rises to the sky and then rains down, (I love the rain), and fills the rivers, lakes, and then flows back to the sea. Then I see my life flow like the journey of the raging river, calm as the sullen lakes and I understand that the journey never ends as the water flows back to the sea, back home. This morning as I took my grand puppy outside I sang a song, the Corn Mother brought to the Navajo about beauty while I was think of what pattern you are presenting us today and your words, the shawl, the yarn, just you, showed beauty and I appreciate that. Thank you. This version of "Walk In Beauty" is from Florence Loraine Bayes. "Now I walk in beauty, Beauty is before me, beauty is behind me, above and below, me". Sorry this is so long, but I wanted you to know how happy you've made me when you talked about Seattle. Thank you!!! Love the shawl so much!!! Love and hugs !!!
The sea & it’s endless waves has been mesmerizing me since a very young age! My parents couldn’t get me out of the water on our seaside holidays , even now I can sit and watch the waves endlessly ❤
Beautiful shawl. Love, love, love it, the colors and the shape. Amazing! I love looking at the sea and all its beautiful colors. It is so peaceful and soothing just watching the sea.
Beautiful. Looks fairly easy! I love those colors. I used to crochet A LOT. I had to give it up after I had a stroke. But I think I am well enough to give it a try again. Who doesn’t love the ocean? I am excited!🤗
Ahhh, the sea soothes my soul. I have lived by the sea all my life and cannot imagine living away from her majestic brilliance. I also Love Janica’s patterns and this one doesn’t disappoint. I will definitely be making this one. Hopefully with All good things. ❤
I miss the ocean. We used to vacation on the Oregon coast. Hubby and I would relax and watch and listen while the kids slept in. It was just a feeling of total relaxation.
I have so many wonderful memories of the sea. We'd always go stay at the ocean on the north shore of Oahu when I was young. The smell of the water and the sound of the waves rushing in and out still makes me feel so calm and relaxed. I always loved the way the sun sparkled on the water and made our days there so magic.
It is a lovely shawl. I do like the airiness of it. The single color is the way to would do it. I have done other of your patterns. The items always work out so beautifully. Thanks for the inspiration and your imagination through your tutorial. I also love the Puget Sound area. I haven’t see it since 1981. Lovely memory
I love the ocean, it is so different in every location, Hawaii's Ocean is so different than the California Coastal Ocean & every beach is different as well. So relaxing and exploring in and around is very enjoyable, remarkable sunsets,. The Ocean is it's own world💜
I love the ocean, few years ago I moved closer to a sea and I very often go for a walk along the beach. It helps me to ground, wash off my anxieties, while i walk barefoot in the water. So excited about this shawl pattern! I love all things Elizabeth Zimmerman, and this is a beautiful homage to a wonderful woman. ❤❤❤

Whether restless or calm, I enjoy watching the sea cap and roll to the shore. It gives me a peaceful feeling.
The ocean feels like freedom and oportunity. I love this pattern. Thank you.
The intro instantly took me to my childhood favorite beach, Sandy Point Beach! Great family times! Love the beautiful yarns.
A fabulous spot to just BE…on the beach listening, smelling the salty air, feeling mesmerized by the rhythmic crashing of the waves
The smell and taste of salty air, the sounds of the waves and gulls, the feeling of sand both wet and dry and the ever changing colours of sky and sea 😊
Food for my soul with every recollection
The sea flowing in and out is mesmerizing. It's so easy to relax and let it calm me.
I love relaxing on the beach letting the sound of the waves lull all my cares away. I love this pattern and will be making this shawl as a gift. Your content has allowed me to really enhance my skills. Thank you!
These yarns are exquisite. I’ve always been drawn to the sea for the sounds and the feeling of calm I achieve sitting there soaking it in.
I love the rhythm of the sea and the ability for that rhythm to transform sharp edges into smooth, clean softness.
💙💙💙
I love the sea, the sound of the waves and the clean smell of the air. The cold Pacific ocean is only an 1-1/2 hours away, so while I cannot see it every day, I go when ever I need to refresh and reset myself. I love the look of this shawl and cannot wait to make it, it is going on my projects to do list.
The smell, the sound and the vastness of the ocean let me relax, calm down and liberate from the everyday stress.
Your yarn is like crocheting with butter and so pleasurable to work with
Thank you for all you do for us in crochet world
The ocean reminds me of how small I am in the bigger scheme of things, but makes me feel alive and so thankful to be alive as I listen and watch the waves😊 lovely pattern and the yarn is beautiful!
That sounds so lovely! 💙
I love all the wonderful memories I have made on beach vacations with my family.
I love the soothing sounds of the waves as they slide up & down on the sandy beach or the boom of surf beating on a rocky shore.
I've never been to the sea or an ocean, but one day, I'd like to. I love pictures and paintings of the surf on the sand. They're so peaceful!
gorgeous yarns and pattern! tysm!
my earliest memory of the sea is waiting on the sea shore eagerly for the waves to come wet my feet! once i got used to the waves i’d inch forward until the water was at my knees! and of course, collecting sea shells!
seas and oceans calm me down, watching their waves, listening to their sound and wondering where they’ve been - if only they could speak!
Your inspiration for yarn colors is the same as my photography. When asked for guidance, my #1 piece of advice is to slow down, look around, and find the beauty that others miss.
The sea and ocean and lakes are all so peaceful. My husband and I love all of them and often try to get waterside when we get a chance for vacation.
"Now I walk in beauty,
Beauty is before me, beauty is behind me, above and below, me".
I love the serene peace the ocean brings and the sense of mystery of what was and what is to come
Ahhh, the sea soothes my soul. I have lived by the sea all my life and cannot imagine living away from her majestic brilliance. I also Love Janica’s patterns and this one doesn’t disappoint. I will definitely be making this one. Hopefully with All good things. ❤
The colours of the sea, from the deep blues to the green turquoise give me absolute joy.
the sea reminds me of childhood vacation with my family...sun, joy and no thoughts❤
I love how the sea laps at my feet and the sound of the waves are so soothing.
When I want to go on a relaxing vacation, I always head for the sea. It always relaxes me and calms my soul. 🐚
The Ocean is it's own world💜
Being at the beach is so calming. The sound of the waves, the movement of the water and the smell all combined relieves stress. 😊
The repetition of the waves and the tides at the ocean is my favorite way to regulate and restore my spirit and body.
I grew up in Southern California, and the sea was a big part of my youth. What a beautiful shawl. ❤
I grew up on the Pacific Coast. There is nothing so soothing than the sound of the waves crashing against the sand and walls of the land.
