- Officials at the California Science Center in Exposition Park are close to completing a dream launched 30 years ago as they prepare to lift the space shuttle Endeavour from its current horizontal position into a vertical ready-for-launch position Monday night. Rachel Menitoff reports for KTLA 5 News at 10, Jan. 29, 2024.

Endeavour was the second last shuttle to orbit the earth. Last shuttle was Atlantis on STS-135.
Neither orbited
@@toordog1753there were 58 collective orbital flights between the two of them.

It's the Fake News - They don't have a clue what they're talking about or reporting on.
Endeavour was STS-134. The last Space Shuttle to orbit the earth was STS-135, Atlantis. It retired in 2011 not 2012. Surprised the news team did not verify facts before airing.
They almost never do. 😑
I wonder if they meant the last space shuttle that was built to orbit.
@@AlphaGametauri Still 2 errors which should have been caught before going live. News organizations used to verify work, The mistakes they made were easy to verify by going to the NASA site. When Wikipedia is more accurate than your news team, there is a problem.
Space shuttle was so effing awesome.
Fun Fact. Discovery is displayed in its landing position. Atlantis is displayed in its flight position with cargo bay doors open, and now Endeavour is going to be displayed in its launch position. I have seen Atlantis many times, but will fly out just to see Endeavour when the display is ready.
When this museum opens there's going to be massive crowds for months.
This is a good idea to display the shuttle. I really want to see it when it’s done.
An amazing achievement in science and technology! Well worth a visit once its complete!
I have been there a couple of times and it’s always exciting to see it.
Endeavour is OV-105, the last orbiter built
False

? Endeavour was finished in 1990 and first flew in 1992 in order to replace Challenger.
Built from structural spares produced during the construction of Discovery and Atlantis.

Excited to see the final project all put together.
Love that the thumbnail is of Atlantis and not Endeavour.
I remember watching the launch for Endeavours maiden flight. Seems a long time ago.
Thanks for your reply.
I find it strange that the British were not involved with the Shuttle program but the Shuttle was named for a historic ship that arrived at a New Zealand shore.
If the ship had arrived at an American shore, than I could understand a connection with regards to the current spelling of the name.
awesome stuff
The Space shuttle was the last ingeniousity of Werner v. Braun.
There would be no space travel without the German scientists.
Endeavor will be displayed in launch positions. Atlantis is displayed in orbiting position and Discovery is displayed in landing position.
RIP Challenger and Columbia Crews💫✨
So exciting!!! Can't wait to return to LA to see this.
I seen it in 2020 or 2021 it’s sad to see it go but at least it will be back soon :)
This might be 1st time for this space shuttle be assembled outside of nasa but space shuttle enterprise was stacked in Vandenberg in 1980s when the space shuttles were to be launched there in 1980s for DOD missions only..enterprise was just a demo shuttle to see if Vandenberg facilities were perfect fit..unfortunately the exhaust vents were considered dangerous..after challenger accident Vandenberg was quickly mothballed launching space shuttles..enterprise never was made space flight ready.
1:24 it says atlantis not Endeavour? Correct me if I’m wrong
Union Carpenters getting it done! 💪🏽👷🏽♂️🇺🇲🪚🔨
I remember skipping school to watch the very first shuttle launch on live TV. I was 14 at the time. 😅 Ever since, I wanted to be an astronaut.
Omg I’ve been under the end ever
Sent it back to NASA in houston❤❤. Houston we have a problem
2:44 imma just leave this here for future refrence
Final destination again.
I wish Space Shuttles launch again😢
Its known that 80% of this was faked.

OV-104 Atlantis was the final & last STS orbital mission.
Who ever wrote this piece needed to do one little search “Was Endeavour the last shuttle to fly?” Lol other than that great coverage.
My dad and I have the same color circle like yours.
2011, not 2012.
I've seen so many failures with those types of cranes. Hope the crane company has amazing insurance.
Atlantis was the last shuttle to orbit the earth.
I guess this news channel never herd of Wikipedia. Atlanta was the last shuttle flight. But they will never correct themselves.
Atlantis on STS-135
Endeavour or Atlantis?
Atlantis was the last to orbit earth and your thumbnail shows Atlantis not Endeavour and now you know why people dont trust MSM.Get your facts right or leave it.
LOL the lift-off/landing archive from Russia Today (Kremlin)channel...🤣🤣
Too bad the shuttle program was a failure. It was just too far ahead of the technology available to make it safe.
Remarkable HST & STS Program enabled our universe to physically understand itself & completed construction of ISS.
Very impressive. But Cali has earthquakes is this exhibit earthquake proof? If not there's no way I'd want to be anywhere near or in that building when a huge earthquake hits, just saying...

Wrong shuttle on the thumbnail.
lol its was Atlantis to last orbit the earth
Yea um there is another full set with boosters and external tank the only thing that is not been to space is the shuttle itself (it’s the simulator used for training) and not in launch mode but I know one thing that all other space museums don’t have that mine does SPACE CAMP located in the rocket city of Alabama Huntsville, Alabama
Hey! I've seen that movie!
@@gwaeron8630 it’s not a movie Huntsville, Alabama has the only space camp
@@bigalsimmons1 Actually it's both a movie (1986) and an actual facility!
Why is Endeavour spelled in old English and not spelled in modern English, eg. Endeavor.
After all, this Shuttle is an American product and its name should reflect the modern spelling of the word as that is the standard way of spelling since it has been adopted by our nation of America.
One of the attributes of progress is to spend less time doing something, so having one less letter to tap on the keyboard saves time.
There are many other words in the old English language that would be applicable such as colour, flavour, programme etc. ( color, flavor, program )
The English language is an evolving language with new words being introduced, so hopefully the modern way of spelling some old words will change throughout the world.
Because it is named after the HMS Endeavour, an old vessel that was the first ship to ever reach New Zealand. Since its named after a vessel it wouldn’t make sense to change the spelling. All 5 orbiters were named after exploration vessels.
Thanks for your reply.
I find it strange that the British were not involved with the Shuttle program, yet one of the Shuttles was named after a historic British ship belonging to a foreign island nation.
If the historic ship had arrived on an American shore instead of a New Zealand shore, then I can understand a connection with the spelling of the current name. @@Amrepdude499

The SSME aren't real. The real ones were kept.
No, there’s real ones attached. They’re just retired engines that are no longer safe to use for spaceflight.
The ones that are currently being used will be used for the new space launch system or SLS rocket.
Unfortunately for them we now know the truth about the space program...
What's that
Where's Columbia?
Where's Challenger?
