  • Whats up guys, just a quick video on how you can cool your nano reef tanks with out a chiller. These aquarium fans are pretty affordable at 17 dollars shipped. Coupled with the ink bird controller, you can make your tank temperatures stable year round.

Can I offer you up a different more effective DIY solution. This is a old school hack I’ve used for 20 years and it works great. Get a styrofoam container, about 6 feet of airline tubing and a toms aqua lifter. All together will cost you about $30. Some you might have laying around. Anyways hook up the tubing to the aqua lifter so it pulls and returns water to you tank and coil a few feet in container. Notch out a little room so you can still close the lid for the tubbing. Dump in ice on top of the airline tubing and close the lid. The aqua lifter will slowly return 3.5 gph of cold water in your tank for the entire day. If it’s working to good reduce the coil of airline tubing in the container.

Great fan, great content I hope it works out for you. I don't run a chiller because is too expensive but I run my ac to keep my tank cool. But I love your idea. Thanks

Dude - take you temp down 2 degrees (or 1C) - In summer I take mine down from 25 to 24C - then if it gets hot I have an extra bit leeway. I only throw a couple of waters in the freezer and put em in the sump - besides that no fan (but I have a well insulated apartment. Good stuff with the fan ;)

I know 2 guys who bought an inkbird. Both reported they did not work correctly after 6 months. Which makes sense as they are made in China

They have been fine for me. Most of the time it’s the probe that needs replacing.

You don't need such a big fan tho :P I got a smaller version of it and it works like crazy... 3 degrees lower

I honestly did not know it was this big. They have even bigger versions that are 4 or even 6 fans long

I love your fish can you recommend some fish or invert good to eat algae because I have to clean my glass tank everyday and you know how pain is it. What hesitated me is introduce new fish in the tank with itch 🤦‍♀️ and I hate to treat itch that’s the most long process ever. Anyway please give me some good advice for remove diatom on the sand bed and hair algae on glass window. My nitrate is swinging between 5- 25ppm 😆😬

Lawn mower blenny and yellow tang clear hair algae well. For diatoms on sand look into your flow for that section

Thanks 😊 btw when you buy new anemone i saw you only acclimated them but not dip it , is it necessary to dip like coral or not ? Before watching on RUclips I’m scare to have anemone but Afte look at your tank I think I should give it a try. If my tank just finish the cycle is it ok for anemone to join in ??
