Thank you for giving so much love to my Patreon request, mate!🖤🦇🪡 You just reacted to my centre of spiritual fulfillment, to one of my two favourite bands and to the band that influenced my worldview and approach towards life the most ever since I fell in love with them in 2006!🖤🦋 ASP (founded in 1999) and their singer/mastermind Asp are one of the biggest and most popular bands in the German Gothic scene, playing in front of huge crowds at worldwide-known festivals such as M'era Luna and even being celebrated on Metal festivals like Wacken - however, they absolutely deserve much more love and attention on an international level! "Flickenpuppe" is part of their new album "Horrors - A Collection of Gothic Novellas", which is OUT NOW, and I'm beyond happy you got to experience the magical ambience and cinematography of this visual masterpiece right before Halloween...🥰 This highly impressive video full of elaborate scenes and awe-inspiring costumes was actually a monumental effort the band and the team supporting them had to make, but I'm glad it turned out as perfectly eerie as it is! ASP are so much more than a band - if everyone even from overseas would just know about their overwhelming concept albums and extensive album cycles... The stories they are telling and also the social criticism they are expressing on a regular basis are so impactful and life-changing, no matter if you listen to their German or English songs. However, "Flickenpuppe" is a short story that approaches topics such as control and submission, but I'm sure the imagery speaks for itself. I'm just going to write down a translation of the first verse, because the doll's perspective makes the meaning even more obvious. We are going to continue on this journey, that's for sure!🖤✨️🪡 "Once I was inanimate cloth a toy, carelessly thrown away. I neither felt nor hoped anything. The head was hanging low, almost torn off. But then you came and picked me up and looked at me for very long. You whispered: "Go, dolly, go!" And I suddenly began to live."
ASP have been a staple at our radio station for years, many djs are fans. :D I have seen them at festivals several times already. :D I think they are a very german phenomenon.
I have to be honest, spooky things and horror aren't something I do well with. I'm much too easily scared. That said, I just listened to the music and I loved both that, and the singer, whose voice was beautiful and different.
Ragdoll.. Pretty creePy 😂 I really like the singer's voice though. And most of the music was good as well. Happy Spooktober To all you ghouls witches and goblins out there. I'm not much into spooky and horror, I'll do them when we had kids running around. My german still isn't good enough to hear thiso I'll have to find the translation. Thanks for bringing it cosmic❤
More ASP please! ...and while we are at it (German Goth Rock, I mean), try some Mono Inc. "Children of the Dark" or "Louder Than Hell", both recent live vids are of great quality. ...and to my fellow Schwarzkittels: somehow I think he might even enjoy more "advanced" stuff like Samsas Traum or E.W.I.G. :)
Ohh ASP. Have been getting into them since seeing them at M'era Luna last year Not all their MV s are as gory as this one 😂 Songs I love from them inlude Ich will brennen and Wechselbalg ETA: also Ich bin ein wahrer Satan and Denn ich bin der Meister.
"take a band, took one of its worst songs - make a reaction vid out of it" - all of band fans think its super dumb and shows how yt works: one makes a vid of song1. next hops on song 1. and the next. and the next. and so on. its so sad.
I absolutely love, that you reviewed ASP.
He is the most talented story teller in german music.
It was such a good time!
