I just you, Etta May ! You sure do tell it like it is. 😂 In my parents' house, when I was growing up, gentle parenting was if you were able to sit down after having your butt spanked! LOL, I knew that when my whole name was called, my Momma started counting to three, I got " The Look", my Momma bit her finger and stomped her foot, or she wouldn't look at me and just answered very coldly " Okay. Now go to your room and I'll be there in a minute. " I knew all of those were warnings for me to run and not look back. I would climb out my bedroom window with my Daddy's help, and only he knew where I was staying until my Momma calmed down and forgot why she was mad at me. If I couldn't get out my window, my Daddy would distract my Momma so that I could slip out the door. My Daddy wasn't big on discipline. He believed in talking to me and explaining why he was disappointed in my actions. He thought that my Momma went overboard with discipline, and he'd tell her to leave me alone and let me be a kid and have fun and not walk around scared that I was going to make her mad all the time because he wasn't going to have me raised like that, living in fear like she was. I was a good kid. I was just mischievous, rebellious, and a free spirit like my Daddy. I was also very outspoken, and I still am. LOL My Momma one day left me on the floor in the middle of an aile because I was throwing a fit because she wouldn't buy me something and I was about three. She walked off and then hid where she could see me and go running to me if she had to. She said that as soon as I noticed that she wasn't there, I quit throwing a fit and I started yelling for her and crying and she came up to me and asked if I was ready to behave? All this time out was time spent in my room planning my escape and carrying it out.Kids today wouldn't know what to do back then with parents who were parents first and your best friend later.
I mom used to say where you act up at that's where you got tore up at. She spank our behind and dared anybody to say anything. Timeout, what the hello kitty is that.
