Eric' in my opinion you have done a fine realistic job. Though you mention on several occashions you are still working on the skill of making them look "truly weathered. You'll get there i know. Your modest honesty and knowledge make you YT channel the most intresting of any thing i watch for entertainment. Keep up the good work!
Excellent weathering tips, your rolling stock looks good, not overly weathered and trashed, well thought out. Yes here in NJ on a CSX/NS line, you see engines and cars a bit beat up and dirty while others look almost like new. See plenty of graffitti too esp. on boxcars, the prefered canvas for RR spray-can artists. Good video, thank you.
I declare you an expert! so there! Seriously though, your work is amazing and I glad I found your channel I was falling as sleep before I saw your video( that's because I take some pain medication) but your delivery of the stuff you know got my attention and I'm happy I stuck to watch it I enjoy every second of it. And now you have a new subcriber. Thanks for sharing!
Love the Conrail. The Conrail locos could look that way if it was still around. Conrail's locos where sometimes pretty dirty. The Seaboard to. Alco put out a lot of smoke. Every pic of an Alco Ive seen, its pretty dirt
No, I don't. Some people do, but I don't because the clear coat can alter the look of the weathering. I'm just careful when handling those cars/engines and I do touch up work if needed.
Absolutely positive. Testors released a statement earlier in the week. Good ole Corporate America....financial reasons, or should I say Corporate greed. Stock up on what you can find now and hope someone else picks up the line in the near future.
I contacted Testors and they confirmed that this is true. They will continue to sell those brands, however, until they run out of raw materials. Also, they told me that they have a new line called "CreateFX" which may likely pick up many of the colors that Floquil and PollyScale used. So that's something at least.
Are you sure? The Testors website still has both Floquil RR Enamels and Polly Scale RR Acrylics for sale. I saw that email that's been circulating around on the internet since last week. For all we know that could be a hoax email, so I'll wait until I hear that directly from Testors. If it's true, yes that does suck.
You said your favorite method is airbrush but what about people that don't have any money laying around? Could you use those spray cans that you used to weather the stainless steel support beams on your bridge? Or is that too complicated to use?
Eric, great video as always! Quick question, are you applying a protective matte clear coat or dull coat to your weathering job once you have reached a point where you are happy? Thanks.
OH MY GOD HE SHAVED!!!!!! IS HE GONNA GROW IT BACK????!!!!!!!!! THIS IS THE WORST THING THATS HAPPENED EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just found a MTH Pan am box car to weather myself!! Thanks for the great video!!!

We now need the grafitti
Good stuff. Thanks for taking the time.
Great job Eric, always enjoy your videos.

Excellent info! I'm considering weathering a couple of cars and wasn't sure of my choices. Thanks Eric!

I will tell you what, That BN hopper looks very real, kinda like what you would see in the mid 1990s and still today!
It really depends on what I want to weather, I'd like to get an airbrush and do it that way because it seems much better than powder weathering.
Not sure. Probably some technical issue at RUclips. Try again later.

ericstrains same I think clear coat wrecks the look , I also use airbrush for weathering , looks great.
Personally I like to put a blob of paint on the car, spread it around and dab it with a paper towel to give it texture
Thanks!

Eric, if that Panam ever is for sale, I would love to purchase it.
Ha, yeah not likely. I love those things.

Who are you and what have you done to Eric? :-)

Are you planning to weather all your trains?
Sucks that Testors discontinued Polyscale and Floquil RR Colors!
That question is answered, at about the 22:00 minute mark. Short answer is no.
Why is it saying "this video is currently un-avalible"?
Several of the hobby magazines are reporting the same now...it doesn't seem to be an April Fool's joke lol
Ok, its working now
Where's the beard? You look so different. Great video.
I personally prefer not to weather my trains I find that look kind of depressing in my opinion
Hey eric single why don't you go to NYC
cool
OH MY GOD HE SHAVED!!!!!! IS HE GONNA GROW IT BACK????!!!!!!!!!
