- South Korean tech giant Samsung has permanently ceased production of its high-end Galaxy Note 7 smartphones after reports of devices it had deemed safe catching fire.
The firm had already reduced Galaxy Note 7 production volumes.
Owners are expected to be able to return the phones for a refund or an exchange

They should have tried harder with the design and stuck to what made the Galaxy series different to the iPhone.

Officially from Samsung, it occurred as an error in the manufacturing process meant the anode and cathode of the battery could touch, causing a short circuit which leads to a thermal runaway.
A hardware error within the battery means the protection circuit couldn't do anything to prevent this.

Lucas Spag In this case it isnt the batteries. The everyday pressure that is caused on the phone causes the battery terminals to be pushed too close together, thus causing an explosion. It sucks though but its a design flaw.

I didn't even know this phone existed, until it started blowing up! It looks amazing though. And it's versatility is almost limitless. I still have my Note 1 and 2 and remember there being a 3 and 4. It is possible that Samsung might've rushed the production of this one, resulting in it's very short existence and quick demise. I hope they do release another one... that doesn't explode in your pocket. :(

U're wrong, u wont turn on all of them, for example iP6, iP6s, iP7, beacause theirs batteries stop working if they're discharged for more than 1 month (like all new phone batteries)
I use a S5 Plus G901F over 2 years no problems. Now I have to wait for a note 8.

Yeah, that's never a good idea. I'll settle for a less powerful battery any day, especially knowing that a more powerful one could prove dangerous as we saw with the Note 7. I always take my 20,000 mAh power bank, so I can recharge my phone with that if need be.

Man this is killing me, I was really going to buy Note 7 after all the wuss, waited almost 6 months, been keeping myself update about note 7 from the internet, daily reading articles about it on sammobile, android authority, pocketnow, watching tons and tons of videos on youtube about it before its release. On the day of release I bought popcorns to watch the live broadcAST on youtube, that's how excited I was. Still, remember youtube was pooping on the day note 7 was released. I knew it then this smartphone is a huge success.I was so much excited to get my hands on one. Because the issue that caused the recalls are completely different. iPhone had an incompetent design with aliminium that was way too thin. The S7 simply had a battery that was too large. The size of the battery was to provide a longer battery life than it's competitors but it simply didn't work because they crammed a massive battery into such a small and easy to war up place.

When they find the cause for explosion, they'd probably release a Note 7 with different name, probably not 6, 7, or 8, but letters maybe, very similar, except doesn't explode and some specs upgrade. Maybe in several weeks. Maybe next month.
Zetsuke4 I do think so, I think they say stop because they really stop Note 7, but Note 7 will come back without problem few months later with different name. Note 7 is still good device and perfect without explosion problem.
