Blaser is much better option. Too much bad press about Merkel on the forums although i must admit this Speedster model seems to be very reliable compared to older models. Somewhere in manual you wild find that you should use only Geco, RWS or Norma ammo. This rifle is prime example of German over engineering. Barrel chambers are made according CIP standards which are tighter than American SAAMI. Thats why most of American ammo would have high chance of getting stuck inside the barrel and not been able to exzract spent case properly. If you reload at home you would enter quagmire of trying to find proper seating depth for the bullets as to avoid them getting stuck and having walking around with live round in your barrel. And also if you have some oil inside then it would stuck aswell. Supposedly chamber is not chrome lined. I made my research and opted for old Sauer 202 instead but i barely heard any bad comment about Blaser R 8 excpet envy. I still beleive that Speedster would provide service asked. www.africahunting.com/threads/merkel-helix-review.50506/
@@Republikaner1944 - thank you very much for your insight. I had also considered the same Sauer 202, but since we do not have the same restrictions in the US as in Europe on firearms, I think I’m going to give up on the switch barrel option and just have two rifles.
Yes, that’s correct. You also have to change the magazine obviously. I don’t know whether you can switch to magnum, however I would assume it’s possible as Merkel also sells magnum bolts separately.
Great detailed video. Thanks.
Thanks for a nice review - didn't know about the 3x pump :-)
Excellent review. Thanks you.
Thanks for this review. I would be very interested on how, in detail, you adjust the trigger pull
excellent video, looks like an amazing rifle. do you have them in stock?
Would you recommend the Merkel or the Blaser, if one was going to have several calibers? 7x64 with a 1:8.66” twist and 375 H&H is a must.

@@Republikaner1944 Sloppy tolerances ain't good engineering, son
@@headhunter1945 So SAAMI is what you call sloppy?
@@Republikaner1944 If it causes your ammo to fuck up when used in a gun with tight specs then it has sloppy tolerances.
So just to understand, you can replace any caliber barrel on the same chassis? is this correct?

Nice review. Be nice to see your views on the Strasser RS14. Regards Paul
Sure, we will look in to doing a review on this
Nice video 👍💯
Maybe it’s just me, but I kind of expect a bit more from a “review” than just reciting all of the features. I can get those from their website.
❤️
Thanks!
It looks much better in nice walnut....
