- I just made the worst purchase of the year. I bought a Hasbro Selfie Series figure and it looks nothing like me! If you are thinking about buying one of these selfie series figures, think again.

I ordered two for myself and one each for my two kids. All came back with a significantly darker skin tone, even if we selected the second to the lightest tone. All of us DO look like Robert Downey Jr. in Tropic Thunder. I emailed their customer care today as all 4 orders total about $200.00. I told them that if they can't resolve the matter, that I'll simply file a chargeback with my credit card company for a product that's significantly different from what's advertised. Waiting for their resolution.

While I've seen some really good ones and some really really bad ones, I'm confused why everyone had such high expectations. It's a Hasbro figure. They retail at $25-$35 and the actor head sculpts, that are professionally 3d modeled, are 50/50 as it is. This cost roughly a 4th of what you'd pay someone on insta or facebook to make a custom 1/12 scale head of yourself, and its a 4th of the quality. Unfortunately this felt like it was meant for the less hardcore collectors. For people that would never think to pay someone $250 to make a custom head of themselves. Not to mention that because of the number of figures they would have to pump out in essentially 3-4 weeks time, it feels mass produced. You aren't getting an individual experience. I was one of the lucky ones who's figure turned out decent, but I also had very very low expectations because its a $25 figure line. I've shown some collector friends and the more casual ones freak out and think its amazing, while the more hardcore ones are like "its not bad". I do feel like they need to figure out the skin tone situation because it is way off on most of the people who aren't white. Though I did see this ginger fella whos a little more rosey and his figure looked like it got into his moms makeup drawer haha Hopefully they reprint you one with the correct skin tone at the least. Maybe you can sand down the hair and get a hat. I added glasses to mine and it was a huge improvement.

The app and the Sefie series are not yet available in Germany. And somehow I'm just a little bit happy about it. I would have been one of the first to create and order a character and I would probably be just as disappointed as you are. I for example have a very distinctive nose and it would be a real shame if it hadn't been modeled properly.
I think Hasbro needs to improve some things to create more detailed facial scans like you said.

I think they made this app super simple so that anybody could use it easily. But it does sacrifice a lot of details that video games actually will give you. After I created my figure I wasn't happy with the results so I didn't purchase it. But I did take a screenshot of it so I have a NFT version 😁

You keep talking about the skin tone but you were the one who chooses the skin tone. You should have chosen the lighter one. You also chose the options for the rest of the face, so if you don't like it then that's on you. Mine came out pretty good.
Then you must look like one of the random figures they have lying around. I show in the video what I selected and how it came out. Good for you that yours came in the way you liked it. Mine didn't.

Cheap scam to make a lot of money. I think, they had around +60 face/head molds, and when the customer's photo is uploaded, it'll (the program) pick one of those +60 molds, that looks most similair to your face, too bad yours looks more like an Idian (not the Native American one of course lol) person...
Yea its way off. I was thinking maybe I can use it as a start. Repaint it and fix the hair. I might be able to get a better likeness.
