Speaking from my own experiences, flooding is no big deal if you live in an apartment and West End is not among the worst affected. You need to compare the pros and cons when you can't make up your mind about where to settle down: West End, New Farm,etc. I know all those areas very well and it didn't take me long to get my pick. This is why: West End boasts many things which make your life happier and more colorful. Unfortunately, you can't find them in other areas. Among other things, just think of a leisurely walk from a riverside apartment bldg to the scenic South Bank, which is only a stone's throw away. There are plenty of activities for you to enjoy and you could always take a free boat to a number of attractions along the Brisbane River. To top it all, all festive activities such as laser light shows or firework displays are held there....Too many to enumerate! You have to live there to enjoy them all.
